4:55 AM
I stumbled into this room trying to sound so tough. As long as no one complains too loudly, I'm mellower now. Then again:
(Think that one was written by their drummer. "Toccata" means "touch" accoding to the liner notes.)
Most famous toccata, of course:
And my favorite ELP cover ever:

5 hours later…
Yawww!
Off the bat, that first one tickles my sense of left-or-right to right-or-left drawing-or-writing.
And the second one made me go unpack my piano from cold storage!

10:53 AM
I listened to this one a while ago, but I don't remember if it's good or not. What do you think, @humn?

I am an easy audience and have little credibility. . . . .but asked for detailed analysis? I'm all ears.... re-listening in that vein.
Now laughing too hard to be objective. Think I get it.
It's life, Jim, but not as we know it.
My computer just melted looking for that follow-up reference... If you can find a back door to "Bar Trek" (by Thomas Gauthier?) live it up.
All I have is on cassette, the medium I love to hate.
"Snott here, sir"
"What's not there?"
"Captain Snott"
"Regardless, how far before we reach planet al-anon?"
"6 light beers, sir"
.... humor badly relayed by a recovering alcoholic ... Music! ...

Soothing, thank you
Do you have a voice, Mithrandir? You have an ear.
Or are these your recordings?!?!?!??!?

LOL.

I try to traipse through language, but that was sincere.

@humn I tried. But I still haven't fully regained it after hitting puberty.

Think I know what you mean. Luckily I didn't discover my voice until much later.
Regardless, enjoy hearing all you share. You really do have an ear.
I play with someone who is officially deaf.

11:17 AM
@humn Thanks ^_^
@humn wow! That's awesome! How does that work?

She has a memory. And a bassoon!
And she still feels the extremes of sound.

You're inspiring.
(Don't take that too seriously, remember, I'm an easy audience)
(but also sincere)

(still splasihing in the the "who am I just like you" piece. great lyrics)
How I love the combination of language and notes!
Either alone, too, but when together!
@Mithrandir , that one really reached me. Never know, does one.

I'm two songs behind by now, but even Van Beethoven was as much as deaf for the last few throws.
One of these days scientists will discover hidden human talents. One will turn out to be music.
(Catching up.) "Cry sweet tears of joy," as if that needs to be repeated.
Every day I wake up with working eyes and ears, I shed a tear and try to muffle reality.
And every day I wake with electricity and untorn speakers, the neighbrs want to call the authorities.

I guess I'll have to try to work out your speakers more ;)

11:48 AM
This is the best radio station! (And you haven't lived until your speakers have torn. It just ain't fair. By now my eardrums should have gotten there first.)
My speakers and I thank you for a mellow swing, Mithrandir.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that that was actually in the same key as the sheet music, so I accompanied it on my new old keyboard ^_^

You go!

(Gigglearama, I just noticed how you turned that phrase.)
I had some pieces lined up too but my speakers and ears won't let me remember.
Did you say that you're not so crazy about Queen, Mithrandir?
... misattribution, now that I check back ... sorry ...
I'm looking for a Queen scrap, on any street. Or Chicago. Care to pick a poison?

(I have never listened to that)
(just a disclaimer)

@humn not bad (it's not the style I usually listen to, but still not bad).

Et tu! (Oh that looks harsh, but had you heard the tone in my voice, it was sweet)

(plays keyboard)

Tell! Along with YouTunes? Something invented? or, laughingly, keyboard as in asdfg?
... meanwhile ... gotta love Borodin (and I'm also 1/4 Mongolese):

12:19 PM
Just faking some music from the sheet music that I have

... internet interlace! ... keep faking it!
... super nosey to know, though, what sheet music?
(Full disclosure, the Mongol(ese?) branch is undocumented.)

I play the chords and improvise. Quite literally faking it.

3 rhythms rule, and that's a beautiful piece. Go at it.
I would mark it up with swells.

Nice interpretation! Not my instant take from the sheet but I love to learn.
(I'm also an irascible rehearsalist. Never the same twice in a row.)
That was sumptuous.
Possible repeat while I make breakfast:

12:40 PM

On guitar? (bouncing between kitchen and keyboard)

No, on the keyboard. I'm just faking it :P

Right. Let those fingers fly!
Have you tried playing with eyes closed? Yet? Quite a learning experience, and quite easier than imagined.

Yes, I shocked my teacher by playing with eyes closed after he mentioned it once :P

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Music! Next best thing to language, better than most.

12:49 PM

Right! (still working on breakfast at the moment)
Did you just make that? It's a gas. (That's a compliment too)

No, not this moment, it's in my stash of freehand drawings :P

Did you use it in a puzzle that I missed?
Will you (use it)? Will I (miss it)?
... while the breakfast stews:

Q: Forget the freehand red circles - it's a freehand rebus! - Clue Twenty Eight

Mithrandir<<---First clue <--Previous clue This is an entry in the 26th Fortnightly Topic Challenge. You speak the password. The entire space shudders, and the wall that you were leaning on open, spilling you headfirst into... an art museum? There are all of the pictures from the previous Clues there...

! Thought it rang a bell.

1:07 PM
!!!!!
Someone plagiarized it!

Wow! Minus the picture(s)!
Imitation used to be the sincerest form of flattery.
Now it's the least accurate form of backup.
Now I've had breakfast and am feeling silly:

(excuse me, I'm reporting the site to SE

Got something against mechanical sex?
If so, please don't post it.

What?

... sorry, Mithrandir, nothing you've said encouraged me to go there ...
... breakfast just makes me go there on my own ...

1:21 PM
I was reporting the site that plagiarized the puzzle o_o

yahahahahaha, thank you for dessert, I lost the thread while in the kitchen

(sorry)

(better lost than lamented)

6 hours later…
7:44 PM
Quote from Yo-yo Ma above: "We're here to serve music."
Better than serving humans! Tastes sweeter.

Lucky! (didn't mention that until now)
What came up?

That he was just improvising :)

))))))))))))))))))))))!

We asked him what he had been playing on the keyboard. His response: 'a C and a D and an A and an E'.
And improvising.
After years of practice.

7:50 PM
It took me decades to improve from a note-reading machine to a musicn, on a good day.

(I still have to work on actually being able to read notes. I'm too lazy to put the effort in, but I plan on starting soon.)
Well, I can read it a bit, although it's difficult. It's playing it and reading it that's the hard part.

I like how i imagine your present approach. Again, my dad fiddles thrice a week without reading a note.
Again, I hey-diddle-diddle all the time and think i understand every iota of notation. To each their own.

I essentially play the chords with my right hand and play double octaves as the bass, when I'm just playing for fun. For a few songs I play the chords on the left and melody on the right, but that's only the ones I already know the melody to. And I have fun dancing around the chords on the right when I don't know the melody, too :)

Yeah! Now I'm gonna try that too.
Why are musicians so modest?!?!?!?! I'm not modest because I'm not really a musician. Yet.

I'm not a musician either. So now I know why my ego can get too large at times! :P

8:00 PM
You just proved my point, Mithrandir. Greetings, fellow musician. I come in peace.

Coming in peace is good. Coming in pieces, less so.

One piece at a time?

(now I've got this time for Africa stuck in my head)
For no related reason

(if you don't link one I might, one that might require an insulin shot)

8:05 PM
(whew, close call, thank you. And again, apologies to every diabetic I know and have edited medical articles about.)
Now the backyard cat is chewing on my soccer ball.
And scattering between my happy feet.

That cat likes music, hey?

Kitten on the keyboard!

Thank you again and again for catching the baton, M.

8:17 PM
Completely unrelated but too good to waste:

No problem, except for the fact that it's very late and I should go to bed...

Thank you for waking my day.

@humn (they need to fix their mobile site)

@Mithrandir , those rocket scientists! One of these orbits they'll figure it out.
(I work with them and still they don't learn. At least I do. On a good day.)

(that's another one that I fake on the piano)
(at least, the tune)
(they switched the lyrics for that)

8:25 PM
You just waylaid a necessary computer reload.Stereo doesn't mind.

waka waka :P

Musica! (Those keystrokes took forever, ca
Now the puter is back! Modern technology.
Every tab from the last few days is playing! Cacophony begets euphony.

o_o

Thank you for staying up for that, Mithrandir.

8:39 PM
No problem. I'll probably be awake for a little while longer, but I don't think I can link any more videos without searching for the earbuds.

I had a handful of pieces lined up but they slipped out when my jaw dropped from your offerings.
They'll come back if you will.

🎵🎵🎵🎵

Meanwhile, here's some noise (probable repeat):
And probably repeat explanation: 415 is police code for disturbing the public.
Wish I didn't know so much about police business. Life just goes on.
"Their motto is 'come tread on me.'"
"What I want to know is how does the song go."

2 hours later…

Stuck in the 1970s:
It was their comeback after Dark Side of the Moon
