Happy new year everyone! I've been in hospital for ages – though definitely less long than I've been missing from here – and now I'm programming again and noticing that the two laptops I have have significantly different emacs configs, and I need to find which one I like better. They won't be easy to merge, because one is spacemacs, the other one isn't.

@Anaphory I'm sorry you've been hospitalized, I hope you're getting better! Theoretically, you can build up emacs to be just like spacemacs - but maybe using spacemacs layers is the best way to go full featured. I can't use spacemacs because I don't know emacs well enough to solve problems when I come upon them...

@AaronHall Ha, neither do I! Your emacs-fu is still far above mine. But spacemacs felt nice out-of-the-box, doing quite a few things easily, so it's now on 2/3 of my emacsen.
