@unNaturhal not like there is, There is.

@unNaturhal Why did you include geometry package? Maybe it's easier to go from there.

@DavidCarlisle Oh.. perfect, understood :) (the advice to press h each time I get an error is really useful thanks :))
@percusse Because is in the code that I copied from tikz example..

@unNaturhal OK then remove it because it's for changing the page size and whatnot.
Probably the result was nicer when the page is landscape. But your class suftesi already arranges page size headers etc. for you.

But now.. The error is solved, but it says that it cannot found tikz-er2.sty file.. but until yesterday I compiled the example without errors and it was able to found the file ._.
@percusse I got it :)
@percusse Yes.. I prefer that my thesis has a portrait looks..

@unNaturhal Where did you get tikz-er2 originally? I can't see it on the page.

6:05 PM
@percusse I googled it and downloaded from a post (seems of the author) in a forum

@percusse Yes, right there :)

@unNaturhal So this passes the test.
\documentclass[article, parskip=full, liststyle=indented]{suftesi}

\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}
\usepackage{amsmath}
\usepackage{amssymb}
\usepackage{tikz-er2}
\usepackage{hyperref}
\begin{document}
A
\end{document}
but it says it doesn't know article and parskip=full so they can go away too,
Also it says
\PackageWarning{FixLtXHyph}{This package must be loaded after babel
    or polyglossia}%
so probably you should start from the manual of suftesi

Ehm.. wait.. the error i get back is another..
! LaTeX Error: File `tikz-er2.sty' not found.

Type X to quit or <RETURN> to proceed,
or enter new name. (Default extension: sty)

Enter file name:

From the manual....
*The class loads the following packages:* `beramono, calc, caption, color, enumitem,
emptypage, epigraph, fancyhdr, fontenc, geometry, ifluatex, ifxetex, iwona,
mathpazo, microtype, mparhack, multicol, textcase, titlesec, titletoc`

6:13 PM
But I have added the file.. and 'till yesterday everything worked..

Put it next to your file. It should work
Or you just extract the useful parts from the style file because it's just a collection of tikz styles. Here is the package that can be included in the preamble:
\usepackage{tikz}
\usepackage[normalem]{ulem} % for the dashed underline
\usetikzlibrary{shapes.geometric}
\usetikzlibrary{arrows}
\usetikzlibrary{fit}

\tikzstyle{every entity} = []
\tikzstyle{every weak entity} = []
\tikzstyle{every attribute} = []
\tikzstyle{every relationship} = []
\tikzstyle{every link} = []
\tikzstyle{every isa} = []

\tikzstyle{link} = [>=triangle 60, draw, thick, every link]

\tikzstyle{total} = [link, double, double distance=3pt]

\tikzstyle{entity} = [rectangle, draw, black, very thick,
But I think this is not fair for the author of the package.
oops gotta run....

@percusse It's not a problem to add the .sty file in the same directory of my .tex :)
Another error ._.

That's a hyperref command

@unNaturhal Add hyperref (although it shouldn't happen). Returning to landscape: it's an option for printing on paper oriented with the largest side as the basis, which is really not good for your paper. Leave this to the class. There is no tikz-er2 package in TeX Live, so it's impossible to load it. There is no parskip option in suftesi, which is aimed to producing good quality documents (and setting a parskip is a mark of low quality, usually).
If you don't use chapters, pass the option documentstructure=article, not article alone

@egreg I got it and everything seem to work :) I also remover parskip=full, it was an option taken from a tutorial and forget to remove
@egreg I'm using chapters (also \chapterintro)

7:22 PM
I go to dinner :) Thanks again for the help :)

7:35 PM
I like this song. :)

8:01 PM
@Brent.Longborough Sorry, I'm in a "cold" mood recently, and since the retag was necessary, I decided to remove that one.

2 hours later…
10:02 PM
@PeterGrill I can't see how an index referring to nothing can be useful
@PeterGrill Why don't you simply create a new file that inputs the .ind file with a suitable prolog?

@egreg ah I just made that comment on site, then come here and see exactly same comment from you:-)

@DavidCarlisle Great minds think alike, :)

10:20 PM
@egreg The index refers only to external files. So, the content is just me splitting pu the file names in the manner I want them indexed.
@egreg So using input{<file>.ind> works great. What do I need to do to get only a single column output?

@PeterGrill not use \twocolumn :-)

@PeterGrill I'm trying to get something from imakeidx to produce the correct setup

@DavidCarlisle :-)

if you are using article class \def\twocolumn[#1]{#1} would work to undo the twocolumn in theindex

Hmmm.. I am trying to pull an egreg -- tried to answer a question while on the train -- not as easy as egreg makes it seem...
@DavidCarlisle Nope... that didn't quite do the trick...

10:25 PM
@PeterGrill I suppose I could test it, looks like it ought to work

@DavidCarlisle Here is what I tried:
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{imakeidx}
\usepackage{hyperref}

 \def\twocolumn[#1]{#1}
%\def\twocolumn#1{#1}

\begin{document}
	\input{test.ind}
\end{document}

@PeterGrill well blame egreg for breaking my suggestion

@DavidCarlisle :-) Yep, it is his package that I am using...

@PeterGrill imakeiidx package uses multicols so \def\multicols#1{} \def\endmulticols{}

@DavidCarlisle Yep that worked... Thanks...

10:30 PM
@PeterGrill \makeatletter\def\imki@columns{1}\makeatletter
@PeterGrill You need to load imakeidx, of course.
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{imakeidx}
\usepackage{hyperref}

\begin{document}
\makeatletter
\def\imki@columns{1}
\makeatother
\input{peterextidx.ind}

\end{document}

@egreg Yep that also works.

@PeterGrill You can also set \indexname to what you wish.

@egreg Good point. Haven't gotten to my real test case so hadn't yet occurred to me..

11:08 PM
MiKTeX doesn't have doc manager

@leo What do you mean? MiKTeX is just a TeX distribution

leo
@egreg it don't have something to browse the manuals of the packages

@leo Oh, you mean something like texdoc?

leo
@egreg yes

Q: How to force MikTeX' texdoc to open package manuals with a PDF reader rather than the DVI viewer?

Garbage CollectorI am working on a machine with MikTeX installed. When I want to open a certain package manual, I type texdoc packagename. However, I don't want to open it with Yap (the DVI viewer in MiKTeX). Acrobat Reader has been installed. How to force MikTeX's texdoc to open package manuals with Acrobat Rea...

11:18 PM
@egreg nice. Thanks
I didn't know how to do to see manuals with MiKTeX at all

11:30 PM
@PeterGrill I don't know you gave the tick to that egreg bloke. I know as it's only because you don't want Joseph to separate us:-)

@DavidCarlisle :-) Well he updated the answer to include the two column change... Plus I still have dreams that someday I'll be able to catch up to you. :-)
@DavidCarlisle Wow, you have been busy I see. About to surpass Joseph and Jake...

@PeterGrill Still in the third row.

@egreg Hey, the third row is quite comfortable!! I should know, have been stuck there for a while now...

@egreg hmph still you're not in first place for this week...

@DavidCarlisle Only two green marks behind. :)
Let me find a question where I can steal one...

11:44 PM
@egreg should have been 4 if @PeterGrill had done the decent thing

@DavidCarlisle Ok now I feel bad. So to help you out I'll point you to an easy 15 points for something that should be a minor fix: Excess vertical space in mdframed ending with display math environment.

@PeterGrill I'd forgotten that one, is the code that's wrong the "last update" in the question?

@DavidCarlisle I believe that I updated the question with your fix and the issue with it. But am almost at my destination so need to get off the train. Will test it again later tonight.

@PeterGrill :-)
