9:01 PM
Here is what I meant by Reason by the way :P

@percusse You created that image in TikZ, right?

leo
what is the LaTeX equivalent for \em?

@Gnintendo I wish. It's a recording software from Propellerhead called Reason. I used to sleep over that thing when I was young.
You can create your own stack and if you press TAB key you can also alter the cabling. Ridicilous amount of detail.

hehe

example here youtu.be/xjDv7jsOFUI Watch it around 8:50

9:09 PM
@leo \emph{this} the standard classes define \em as well for compatibility

leo
@DavidCarlisle so there is nothing like the \bfseries to \bf or \sffamily to \sf, etc?

@leo no in fact my comment that " \em for compatibilty " wasn't really true either. \textbf is defined in terms of \bfseries \DeclareTextFontCommand{\textbf}{\bfseries} but \emph is defined in terms of \em \DeclareTextFontCommand{\emph}{\em} so \em is in fact the more basic latex command of the two.

leo
@DavidCarlisle ok

@leo always have latex.ltx in your emacs buffer, it makes it much easier to answer this kind of question:-)

leo
9:19 PM
I see. Thanks :)

@PauloCereda Claudio worked on version 1.1 when preparing 1.2 instead of 1.1a :( Fixed

@egreg Oh! You are fast. :)

leo
@percusse why there is no connections between columns?

@leo You refer to the reason image?

leo
@percusse yep
I'm curious

9:33 PM
@leo They are two different screenshots put next to each other.
Usually you have to scroll down to see the rest of the rack.

9:46 PM
@PauloCereda I was quite unhappy after the match, and even more after seeing that. :(

@egreg but at least you have a co-author to blame

@DavidCarlisle You might add a mock coauthor.

@egreg I think I'll put ..and @egreg as author on any future packages, then I could blame you. (Or get you to fix the coding)

10:23 PM
@egreg Well, at least we didn't lose. :)

leo
10:49 PM
is it arydshln compatible with tabularx?

@leo Hi Leo! Are you really really sure you need arydshln?

leo
@egreg no

@leo I think to have used it once for an answer here. :)

leo
I have just noted that it exist and can be useful to me right now

@egreg I've never heard of it before. :)

A: Objects that are bigger than others inside a matrix

egregHere's a solution without TikZ \documentclass{article} \usepackage{amssymb,array,arydshln} \begin{document} $\renewcommand{\arraystretch}{1.2} \left(\begin{array}{@{}c;{3pt/1.5pt}c@{}} \mathit{GL}(2,\mathbb{R}) & \begin{array}{@{}c@{}}*\\{}*\end{array}\\ \hdashline[3pt/1.5pt] \begin{a...

leo
@egreg are those matrix of groups? :)

@leo No, it denotes a set of matrices. But, as I said in the answer, solid lines seem better.

leo
@egreg yes, indeed at least to me seems better. The matrix itself seems weird. For what do you want a matrix of groups, or a matrix of sets even. If it denotes a sets it's fine then

@leo I guess it denotes the set of 3x3 matrices such that the upper left 2x2 submatrix is in GL(2,R).
Today I started my course with matrices. (And talking about Gauss and his computation of the orbit of Ceres)

11:09 PM
ooh gitorious.org is very cool!

11:21 PM
@PauloCereda beginning of the end (before it gets corrupted) :)

@percusse :)

Why the urge for domination of the world, I'll never understand

Would it be plausible to typeset xkcd-style equations?

@percusse I usually tend to explode things and invoke chaos unintentionally, I was thinking of focusing my reverse Midas-touch in something more destructive. :)

@PauloCereda I have that gift for robots. They start to smoke when I'm around

11:27 PM
@percusse ooh negation field! phdcomics.com/comics/archive/phd020707s.gif :)

@PauloCereda Exactly.
Speaking of which now I switched to TU/e and I'm remotely involved with these guys.
which means I'm in that department but working with other robots.

@percusse Awesome! :) Though I think the goalie-bot is a sad bot. :)

@PauloCereda 2:20 is my favorite goal throuhgout the whole tournament.

@percusse :set brazilian-mode on :)

@PauloCereda Yep there is also a zuzu button :)

11:33 PM
Hi @PauloCereda and @percusse. Good evening to you.

@HarishKumar Hi there!

@percusse Cruyff mode. :)

@percusse Hi How is the thesis going? I want to spoil your peace ;)

@HarishKumar Hi Harish! How are you? :)
Nice ducks. :)

@PauloCereda Hi there, I am fine. How about you?

11:35 PM
@HarishKumar Well fighting with a robot that occasionally decides to beat me .
If I can get the proper plots I'm done.

@HarishKumar Getting better. :) Not 100% though. :)

Bought a new LED TV yesterday Watching movies the full day!

@percusse: we need to find a nice song to be the soundtrack of the arara 3.x video. :)
@HarishKumar Yay! :)

@percusse Plots! and for percusse. They can't beat the master!
@PauloCereda Wish you get 100% well soon :)

@HarishKumar I have some problems with the filecontents part :p

11:38 PM
@percusse Matlab nightmare? :)

@PauloCereda Precisely.

@percusse Can't believe it? That shouldn't be the problem IMO.

@HarishKumar I mean the data is missing.
@PauloCereda what will you put into the video?

@percusse Matlab ? Oh! Hahaha. Now I got it.

@percusse I never played with Matlab, just a little with Octave, the poor cousin. :P
@percusse I'm not sure. :) Maybe some highlights of the new version. :)
@HarishKumar Thanks. :)

11:41 PM
@PauloCereda MATLAB is the antagonist, Mathematica is the murderer that you only get to see in the end. Maple is the guy who gets killed in the first 5 minutes. Octave is the girl to be saved.

@percusse LOL I must print this and give it to a friend. :)

@PauloCereda Then I should find something for Sage and other B-movie stars :P

@percusse And Scilab and Maxima are those mariachi playing Mexican songs in the background. :)
@percusse LOL

Ah you're too fast

11:47 PM
@PauloCereda I think any Charlie Parker song would be proper for the bird theme
Carvin' The Bird for example :)
I have a 2:49 version

@percusse ooh nice!

I think they've lost it
