From now on when people send me screenshots of their editor I'll send them screenshots of the documentation.

@DavidCarlisle Back to PL4 today?
@DavidCarlisle, @UlrikeFischer Did either of you have a chance to check my expl3 code with other input encodings? If it looks OK, I should do a release

@JosephWright yes
@JosephWright I made a latin1 input that looked good

@DavidCarlisle OK, so it probably works :)

@JosephWright I didn't check input encodings but various examples I found on the list. Does the new code still recognize the \@uclclist list?

@DavidCarlisle bantham :(

@JosephWright @@h

@JosephWright ok. That explains why one example still worked ;-)
@DavidCarlisle one of the questions complaining about a missing item, had lots of \afterpage containing various long combinations of landscape, newgeometry, table, tabularray-longtables and then broke (probably, I didn't download and run the document) because of lists near the page break. So not your fault!

@UlrikeFischer anything that happens in any document using \afterpage is not my fault

7:49 AM
@DavidCarlisle sent to CTAN. Note that I will be on vacation 2-24 July. And thus will not respond to my normal email. (someone mentioned an email regarding memoir that I haven't seen anything about)

@daleif have a good break, possibly there will be some memoir issues around \stockwidth at point, but they can wait:-) (@JosephWright)

@DavidCarlisle ooh
@DavidCarlisle can I take a vacation?

8:16 AM
@DavidCarlisle well, if we have rain, I'll probably look at some subversion vs git stuff. Still haven't quite figured out how to transfer parts of a private svn repro to a git repro.

@PauloCereda no point booking a vacation, it'll soon be dinner time

@DavidCarlisle oh no

@PauloCereda oh! A white-water ride for ducks :)

@PauloCereda overpowered japanese-style WC? (/me ducks)

8:28 AM
@Rmano oh no

@JosephWright I was planning on making one with a more exotic input encoding, where the slots don't match unicode, but ran out of time yesterday as was driving mostly. Will probably make some 2e tests as part of a revised PR, can make similar l3 tests afterwards if that seems needed

@DavidCarlisle Cool thanks

Does a "more exotic input encoding" have pineapples on it?

@samcarter don't all encodings have that? 🍍🍕🍍🍕🍍🍕🍍🍕

@DavidCarlisle oh no :)

9:18 AM
@samcarter Run out of packages of the day ... (from Another Place)

@JosephWright Yes :) The one year list is now complete github.com/samcarter/PackageOfTheDay (I will continue in less regular intervals, maybe widen the scape a bit to include other useful tools...)
I have to say this was a fun little project - I got to know so many new packages

2 hours later…
@PauloCereda oh, that's funny! And all the sound effects :)

@samcarter indeed! :)

@PauloCereda well yes I guess you just pinged me for the name but it was a real concern when I was trialling latexcgi on aws free trial for a year, they have your credit card details and if you accidentally touch any of a thousand checkbox on any of the dashboard pages, they start charging unlimited amounts against your card.

11:16 AM
@DavidCarlisle I had a vague remembrance of your server hosted in AWS, hence I thought you'd be interested in these [shocking] news. :)

@PauloCereda "penguin": *sidles up to thing and knocks it down. me: huh, I didn't know penguins were cats 😂

@Plergux ooh :)

5 hours later…
4:23 PM
@JosephWright still the plan but have mathml call first so it'll be later this evening...

4:56 PM
ooh Doctor Strange develops a third eye at the end of the multiverse movie thingy

2 hours later…
6:37 PM
@PauloCereda He'll need special spectacles.

7:23 PM
@PauloCereda I hope he doesn't have any allergies with itchy eyes :)

7:40 PM
@daleif It seems the current version of threeparttablex doesn't allow a "empty" note that is equivalent to no note at all. One can just use a \item as a note, but that adds extra space to the end of the table, which is undesirable.
If this isn't clear, I can post example code, or simply ask a question on the site.
Perhaps asking a question would be reasonable in this case.

1 hour later…
8:55 PM
@JosephWright PR made, see what breaks...

9:45 PM
latex-lab broke :(

@DavidCarlisle I think that is harmless, it only shows less \protect, but there is a typo in one of your new files: \TEST{2] <--- faulty bracket instead of }

10:09 PM
@samcarter, @UlrikeFischer, et al -- twitter.com/hanrahanistan/status/1542211903874793475

10:36 PM
@UlrikeFischer yes, how can that happen?
@barbarabeeton have you ever seen me make a typo? ("no" is a good answer at this point)

@DavidCarlisle /.-- Let's rephrase this. I have never watched as you made a typo. I have seen typos in text that you have typed.

@barbarabeeton internet, such an unreliable transport mechanism

@DavidCarlisle -- Well, I'll agree strongly with that.

@FaheemMitha For your threeparttable question, isn't is sufficient to do \renewcommand\insertTableNotes{} inside your empty table command?

@AlanMunn Possibly. I'll give it a try tomorrow. Do you plan to answer the question?

10:51 PM
@FaheemMitha I can if you think that's a solution. Are you planning to actually use the \emptythreeparttable command or is that just for the example? Because that might make a difference in terms of whether an answer will fit your workflow.

@AlanMunn I'm not sure what you mean. To elaborate on the question slightly, I have some Lua code which generated a longtable from data. I'm thinking of adding a note/footnote to the table, which will also be generated from data. But I still want my earlier version, which has no note, to work. So I want a version that will reduce to the earlier version if there is no note. Does that make things any clearer?
The example was just intended to illustrate that the obvious approach, an empty note, doesn't work. And the next best thing, a \item without anything after it, doesn't work perfectly either.
