@PauloCereda Nothing to find there. :P

2 hours later…
Would the following be a reliable test of whether a token that is not an explicit character token of category 1 or 2 or 6 is a control word token: If \detokenize returns one more trailing space than \string, then it is a control word token?

8:38 AM
@DavidCarlisle Oh, I thought it was numerical integration in MathML...

1 hour later…
10:02 AM
@UlrichDiez As far as I can tell, yes. The LaTeX kernel does \edef\reserved@a{\string#1}\edef\reserved@b{\detokenize{#1}} then \ifx\reserved@a\reserved@b to tell if something is a control symbol or control word

@PhelypeOleinik Thanks. :-) The \ifx-comparison takes the \else-branch both for a control-word-token and for an explicit character token of category 6...

@UlrichDiez Yeah, it's not 100% safe if the user is naughty. That code is used for example in \DeclareRobustCommand, so it's reasonable to assume that people expect \DeclareRobustCommand #{} or something like that to fail eventually :)

10:53 AM
@JosephWright So we can close github.com/josephwright/beamer/issues/659 ?

@samcarter Yes

@JosephWright done :) For github.com/josephwright/beamer/issues/772 I'd like to wait in case this mysterious theme is causing some other problems besides this "gray is the new black" business

@samcarter Sure: there could be more to this

@JosephWright about your l3color comment: is the plan to just make sure that black is black or will there be a set of "safe" base colours?

@samcarter The idea would be to fix white, black, red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow
@samcarter At the moment it's more a thought than a solid plan :)

11:08 AM
@JosephWright fixing blue would break the tlc3 as it is changed to use a spotcolor (and to give a different blue) ....

@UlrikeFischer I still think it makes sense ... but at the moment like I said more an idea
@UlrikeFischer At a LaTeX level that would be spotblue, surely?

@JosephWright Personally my dream would be to have two versions: the normal colours I could change to adjust to the current colour scheme and a safe copy of unchangeable base colours I could use for mixing colours.

@JosephWright well the examples use blue, red, yellow (and the last two then give some shade of gray). And I have seen many examples which redefine red to give a better red. Imho if you want to fix it, you will need new names, e.g. DeviceRGBred.
@samcarter true blue like true cm ;-)

@UlrikeFischer yes :)

1 hour later…
12:17 PM
@samcarter @UlrikeFischer @JosephWright "black is black", "true blue", "true colors" --- yay, 80's music today!
...well, 80's with a lot of asymmetrical uncertainty...

@Rmano feature request for l3colour: play the appropriate song when using these colours :)

12:33 PM
@samcarter @JosephWright had the perfect tile for a keynote (any colour you like) and the perfect background (DSotH, H being hummingbird), but after that he went back to boring default beamer with no theming. Also 4:3!

@Rmano yep :)

@PauloCereda :) that was so beautiful!

@samcarter until slide 2 :)

@PauloCereda :P

12:48 PM
@DavidCarlisle So, I asked Hans about setting the spacings, and he answered "Hi Plain TeX User...". :) But he also added support for it, so in the latest bin this works:
\starttext

\def\test#1#2%
   {\begingroup
    #1\relax
    #2\relax
    \writestatus{t1}{\the\mathatomglue\mathbinarycode\mathordinarycode\textstyle  }
    \writestatus{s1}{\the\mathatomglue\mathordinarycode\mathbinarycode\scriptstyle}
    \writestatus{t2}{\space\space\the\binordspacing\textstyle  }
    \writestatus{s2}{\space\space\the\ordbinspacing\scriptstyle}
    $k-1 <> 2^{k-1}$
    \vskip-.9\lineheight
    \endgroup}

\test{}{}

\test{\binordspacing\scriptstyle\binordspacing\textstyle}
      {\ordbinspacing\scriptstyle\ordbinspacing\textstyle}

1:06 PM
@mickep I think I need glasses.

@Skillmon hehe, I understand your feeling. :)

1:18 PM
@mickep You could sell this as "beer simulator" -- how a font looks after a couple of beers :)

1:29 PM
@UlrikeFischer That is also a possible

1:52 PM
@PauloCereda Savage

@mickep thanks

1 hour later…
2:58 PM
@PhelypeOleinik ooh

4 hours later…
7:11 PM
Brace yourselves: GitHub now offers math support in Markdown via MathJax.

7:22 PM
@PauloCereda Ohh

2 hours later…
9:25 PM
@PauloCereda ^^

9:43 PM
@DavidCarlisle Pretty crappy rendering of the left arrow. :)

9:59 PM
@AlanMunn sadly picture mode \vector not supported
