6:07 AM
drive.google.com/file/d/1H7Hp52xtsDFlXFMQZBnEWK-s_sw4_27r/… can someone help resize images to fit the document please?
ibb.co/NVM5J2d in MS word, it looks good like this so I need same in latex.

1 hour later…
7:27 AM
@VisheshMangla I think any basic instructions on how to insert images in LaTeX will tell you how to place and resize them. You can start there.

7:41 AM
I've just found out what power a gold badge gives: I closed a question at once, ops

@CarLaTeX :)

@JosephWright I must pay more attention on what I close since now on :D

\includegraphics[width=\textwidth,height=\textheight,keepaspectratio]{dashboard.png} works

9:26 AM
@PauloCereda Ohh, I hope @DavidCarlisle won't suggest something in cherry sauce ....

@samcarter oh no

9:46 AM

@DavidCarlisle oh no

10:28 AM
@CarLaTeX yes, now I see nothing of interest on the page anymore since everything is big enough for me to read it on my laptop's screen from across the room! Do they think screen real estate is growing on trees?

@Skillmon The funny thing is that they do this to improve the site for small screens :D

@CarLaTeX oh, you have a gold badge? Congrats!

@CarLaTeX given the badge that you have, you don't need to worry just close any questions that you see.

10:45 AM
@samcarter What really amazes me is that my setup already wastes close to no screen real estate (my menu band is 15px high, my active window has a 1px wide border with no window title bar), still I see nothing there; this really hurts!

@Skillmon I normally favour spacious designs, but these list items with only just a tag on the left and the numbers of scores and votes on the right are really just too extreme, I think. now, parts of the page just consist mainly of space instead of providing information

11:24 AM
Rough translation: For a while, I was practicing hard to fold a crane with a laparoscope. I recommend it because it is a pretty good practice for laparoscopic surgery. Since the video is 10 times faster, it looks faster, but in reality it is operated slowly and carefully. There are teachers who fold thousands of birds, teachers who take less than 3 minutes, and a community where FBs are competing for time and perfection.

12:18 PM
@Skillmon lol
@Skillmon Yes, TikZ
@DavidCarlisle I have just to be a little bit cautious :)

@CarLaTeX Next logical step: picture mode :)

@PauloCereda O

@samcarter <3

12:44 PM
@samcarter I'm pretty sure there are tags in which it is impossible to get a gold badge (mostly because of a lack of questions with that tag)

@Skillmon Not a problem here ;)

@JosephWright I think your profile description text is outdated.

@Skillmon ???

@JosephWright LaTeX3 Project => LaTeX Project, "with the eventual aim of producing LaTeX3" is outdated nowadays as well :)

@Skillmon Should be fixed

1:10 PM
@JosephWright Well, I'm most likely the most knowledgeable person for the tag expkv, but I don't even have a bronze badge... And @DavidCarlisle doesn't have a golden picture badge, yet!

@Skillmon Oh, yes, it's all rather arbitrary

(oh, answer is referring the wrong message, should've been the "Not a problem here :)" one)

@Skillmon ... that's just because he posts all his picture mode answers in a certain other tag :)

1:32 PM
@samcarter A picture mode answer helped me to earn the TikZ gold badge :D

1:42 PM
@CarLaTeX :P

@Skillmon if took me ages to get the chess tag ;-)

@Skillmon I have a bronze arara tag, for some reason. :)

2:22 PM
@Skillmon but I did get a bronze badge for the other day, so I can no doubt tell @yo' and @PauloCereda all about that system.

@DavidCarlisle hm maybe @yo' and I could get a badge at some point. :)

Jan 2 '13 at 16:46, by David Carlisle
@FaheemMitha The new years resolution is to get a tikz gold badge by answering tikz question with tex primitives, picture mode, or if really pushed pstricks, doing quite well so far this year.

yo'
@DavidCarlisle oh certainly. Wanna join the team? :D

@DavidCarlisle I know :)

3:01 PM
More people should use siunitx

@samcarter Nice :)

@JosephWright The exponent 3 ist't italic :-) otoh the l is above the base line.

3:32 PM
@PauloCereda -- Oh, how delightful! I should get out my hashi and try this.

3:46 PM
@PauloCereda I didn't even manage that! :)

@Skillmon <3
@barbarabeeton ooh :)

@PauloCereda ooh, a carrot!
@PauloCereda mayhaps I should change to using birds' names for my software. That seems to work better! Do you know by chance a bird that fully expands?

@Skillmon ooh maybe a pelican :)

@PauloCereda so I should rename expkv to pelican :)

@Skillmon it's spelt expkv but pronounced pelican. :)

3:51 PM
@PauloCereda then I can also rename expkv-def as pelican-egg, expkv-opt as pelican-eye and expkv-cs as pelican-wing!
5

@Skillmon ooh build-a-pelican :)

three ducks in Australia :(

@PauloCereda Frankenstein's pelican!

@PauloCereda here's the tutorial: youtube.com/watch?v=4AvxkRPeE4Q

@samcarter ooh

4:36 PM
@samcarter lol

5:04 PM
@Skillmon -- A very strange bird is the pelican. / Its beak holds more than its belly can. (I'd say that's expandable.)

@DavidCarlisle first ball first out must be a world record.

@UlrikeFischer It's ... not good
@DavidCarlisle Indeed: turned on the radio, innings over :(

@UlrikeFischer I guess you haven't played cricket, it's surprising that anyone stays in for long at all, the ball is very hard and they throw it at you very fast

@DavidCarlisle Indeed

yo'
I should not have searched for latex subbottom

5:17 PM
@yo' Now Google knows.

yo'
@StefanKottwitz secrets revealed...

5:33 PM
@Rmano Maybe something for a squirrel: stackoverflow.com/q/70278118/2777074

@samcarter Thanks, will answer... although I think I found a bug :-(...

@Rmano A cute bug like this whatdewhat.com/cute-bugs-nature ?

@Rmano ooh no! (and I didn't know the answer on the spot, so another "ooh no!" :( )

@Skillmon I'd think that using just i>_ as in voltage would have worked, but no... I do not know if it's a bug or just that I thought that I should have implemented it and never did...

@HenriMenke Nearly there ...

5:51 PM
@Rmano is the label placed via a node? If so, maybe one could set things up so that the inner sep is reduced for the i-nodes?

@Skillmon good idea. I'll check it.

@Rmano every node/.style={inner sep=0pt} does the trick (but might have unwanted side effects), not sure which key to use to only affect the current label style.

Yes, I have \ctikzset{bipole current style/.style={inner sep=0pt}} that works
But also I discovered that the "on the fly" setting is buggy... :-(
extra work for the Christmas vacations

@JosephWright ooh

@Rmano bipole current style={inner sep=0pt} in the options of \draw (without \ctikzset) works as well (since that TikZ key is setting the circuitikz style)

6:05 PM
@barbarabeeton check this thread (and messages below): twitter.com/TrudeauRoss/status/1468635806046859266

@Rmano wanna post an answer? :)

@Skillmon done. Although that should be in TeX.SX, to raise the (tiny) probability that I'll have someday a golden badge for circuitikz ;-) (see discussion of this morning here...)

6:25 PM
@PauloCereda -- Oh, that's quite delightful. (And right in line with many MIT pranks. The students are definitely nerds, but please don't accuse them of being illiterate.) We'll have to go visit it sometime when we're in Cambridge.

@JosephWright can I abuse a bit? Why in the following snippet the \micro comes out in math mode? I know it's a problem with charter (removing it fixes the thing), but I have it in a "department-made" class...
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
\RequirePackage{charter} % Serif: Bitstream Charter w/o math support
\usepackage{siunitx}
\begin{document}
 $S_{TP}=\SI{60}{\uV\per\kelvin}$
\end{document}
(The good thing is that happened also in v2, but then I fixed it with math-micro etc that now are deprecated...)

6:44 PM
@DavidCarlisle My husband has - a Little.

@Rmano You'll need to redeclare \micro with a suitable definition

@JosephWright "use arara" :)

@Rmano BTW, it's not math mode: \TS1/bch/m/n/10

@JosephWright Ah, ok. It seemed ;-)
@JosephWright is \DeclareSIPrefix\micro{\ensuremath{\upmu}}{-6} sensible? (loading upgreek)

7:17 PM
@Rmano Sounds good to me

@JosephWright thanks!

7:43 PM
Oh no, I broke my TeX Live :(

@Skillmon So now it's TeX Dead?
3

@Skillmon Oh no!!

@AlanMunn or TeX Recorded?

@Skillmon :)

I had issues during my last system upgrade, and while I rescued my Linux (pacman is great!) my TeX Live (which was updated by the same script when it failed) misses texlive.infra :(

8:14 PM
And running the install script :)

8:35 PM
@PauloCereda Simply buy e̵v̵e̵r̵y̵t̵h̵i̵n̵g̵ nothing. Ooh, options.

When was etoolbox incorporated into the kernel?

@AlanMunn never, why do you think it is?

@AlanMunn It wasn't

@JosephWright They said it on Telegram.

@UlrikeFischer @JosephWright Oh, ok. A friend posted a command definition using \ifblank without mentioning it, so I wrongly assumed it was now part of the kernel

8:41 PM
The activites page changed again ... seems it becomes gradually less spacious ... i am curious to see the eventual layout

@Rmano Good luck with getting anything migrated on purpose. After years of basically every vote to migrate just ageing away, this week there were suddenly 3 migrations at once on a single day -- very useful ones like posts which the OP had cross-posted on both sites, so one now has two verbatim copies of the same post.... the system is so broken
@PauloCereda ohh
@JasperHabicht you can watch on main meta how they change the status of the \Huge list of bugs :)

@samcarter One, I found: you can't change which tag badge to track currently ... almost as professional as me hacking our company's website while being live ... fascinating!

Does here anyone understand the keyparse package?

8:56 PM
@JasperHabicht :) I don't know why they make such chances for the whole network at once. I wouldn't want to be in the middle of such a storm of bug reports. Why not test on one or two sites first?

@samcarter excactly! this is what I meant with hacking a live website ... no good!

@Skillmon Nope

@Skillmon Wow! So readable :)

@PhelypeOleinik :)

@JasperHabicht With a bit of popcorn it is fun to watch :)

9:00 PM
@samcarter maybe write a script that reloads the bug-tracking page every now and then and you almost have a movie!

@JasperHabicht :P earlier today I saw 3 different employees updating the status tags there. Seems to be all hands on deck :)

2 hours later…
10:44 PM
LaTeX2e <2021-11-15> patch level 1 at texlive.net
@JosephWright someone experimenting with html output No. of html documents returned: 158, No. of html documents returned: 215, ...No. of html documents returned: 191

@DavidCarlisle Goodness
@DavidCarlisle Yay!
@HenriMenke Right, I think it works ...
Or, perhaps, 'They told me they fixed it'
@DavidCarlisle Guess I should sort a dev release (@UlrikeFischer)

@JosephWright fix color in dev first?

@DavidCarlisle I did think about that, yes

I am wondering can someone please help with this question? tex.stackexchange.com/questions/625448/…

@Node.JS You've only just posted it
2

10:54 PM
@DavidCarlisle I want to ask that too, I was a bit busy yesterday, but it should probably be fixed everywhere.

@JosephWright separately we should fix the page color special in dvisvgm.def

@DavidCarlisle ???

@UlrikeFischer where was that report:-) ?

@DavidCarlisle which report?

@UlrikeFischer unless I'm dreaming the bgcolor special should be background (like dvips) but I can't find it now

10:59 PM
@DavidCarlisle oh you are speaking about dvisvgm ;-). That was in question on the main site wasn't it?

@UlrikeFischer I thought so:-)

1
Q: How to specify backgroundcolor with dvisvgm

Uwe ZiegenhagenI am trying to convert a DVI to SVG with some white background. How do I need to specify the color? I have tried to convert the following example using latex (generating the DVI) and dvisvgm (generating the SVG) but the resulting file has no background. \documentclass[dvisvgm]{minimal} \usepackag...

@UlrikeFischer thanks ^^ @JosephWright
@Node.JS you really shouldn't ping people here to answer questions on site, we will see them anyway, and if you want anyone to answer you should provide a test document in your question and describe what output you want (assume the reader does not know what teams is)

11:20 PM
@Node.JS You neither show which layout you use for your notes nor which layout you want to have, but for presentations with notes, I like to use iihm.imag.fr/blanch/software/osx-presentation -- this has a lot of nice extra features for the presenters view
