@Vanny Hi Vanny! Feel free to open a chat room.

7:09 AM
@StefanKottwitz We did used to have one ;)

@JosephWright we were young

1 hour later…
8:34 AM
I need some ideas on how to draw a visit sequence in a tree. For example, I want to say we start from S, then we visit node A, and then from S we visit node B, and then we again visit A ibb.co/NjjGFCh

9:32 AM
@Node.JS put a sequence number (1,2,3...) on the arrows?

10:27 AM
@StefanKottwitz and full of life and none of us prepared to die, and I'm not ashamed to say the roar of guns and cannons almost made me cry
Great, now ABBA is stuck in my head

@PauloCereda :)

@Plergux Save me, sheep person!

@PauloCereda a bit of classic Spanish music ;-P open.spotify.com/track/…

@Rmano ooh I was expecting that song about the coches de choque :D

@PauloCereda Urgh

10:39 AM
@Rmano sorry :)
@Rmano sometimes I know more about memes than actual songs :)

Thought experiment:

Is it possible in *FontForge* to change the color of letters, let's say red, and save them as a new font.

So that the font in the document is then also red.

@cis probably yes but why not just specify it as red when loading via fontspec?

cis
A user asked how he can change the font color in a program that does not have this option.

So I thought one could just use a colored font.
...
::::

Maybe @MarcelKrüger etc. can tell me how to change one letter to red in FontForge.

This way it does NOT seem to work for me:

@Rmano now I am singing la bella polenta

11:11 AM
@PauloCereda ¿? ;-P

cis
@PauloCereda Could you sing the mustache song too?

@Rmano quack :)
@cis no

@cis no thanks :)

11:57 AM
On TeX Meta I just read Unpinning the accepted answer from the top of the list of answers. Instead of pinning the accepted answer to the top - what about a button "scroll to the accepted answer" right beneath the question?

@UlrichDiez That's a network-wide thing

@samcarter Good catch

@JosephWright Remembered it because I was chatting with the author on how they made the screenshot with the ragged edges :)

@samcarter Thank you very much for the pointer. Which is the appropriate chat-room for discussing/reading about pros and cons of this?

@UlrichDiez I don't know if there is a dedicated chat room
@UlrichDiez Maybe leave a comment below the post and ask the author if they are interested in discussing this further?

12:28 PM
@cis A musical number and neither Neil Patrick Harris nor Seth MacFarlane are singing? That is a fail on so man levels :þ

@Plergux speaking of the latter, I heard there's a Family Guy video tutorial explaining COVID-19? o.O

@PauloCereda LOL. That could be interesting. Granted I've not watched much of Family Guy but it might be quite different depending on whether it's Peter, Brian or Stewie. Or Quagmire XD

@Plergux giggity ooh

12:59 PM
@samcarter We are at siunitx v3.0.31

@JosephWright yeah!

cis
@MarcelKrüger Ok, I understand.

@JosephWright ooh

yo'
1:24 PM
> xetex -v
Compiled with pplib version v2.05 less toxic i hope

^^ someone was frustrated? :)

@PauloCereda :D Brilliant. I'm not a big Family Guy fan but Seth is cool. Love The Orville :)

2 hours later…

@UlrikeFischer If a structured destination gets referenced but was never defined, is there any default object it can point to?

@MarcelKrüger no I don't think so. I will think about it, but I have to go now for an hour, do some shopping.

4:29 PM
@PauloCereda -- zzzz

5:07 PM
Another entry in the pizza wars: twitter.com/iAmTheWarax/status/1440136754028285959

@barbarabeeton \drooling

well if one goes strict after the rules then a structure destination has the format `[elem /FitH 500]`, where elem is an *indirect reference to a structure
element dictionary*. And such a dictionary is only there if one has at least a bit of tagging. I would probably simply use the given object number and issue a warning that it has no target.

Well, the issue is if the destination doesn't exists but is referenced. So there is no given object number.

@MarcelKrüger but isn't it referenced by an object number? I mean I assume I would write something like /SD \pdf_object_ref_last:?

@UlrikeFischer I was going for your full suggestion now of handling this internally. So you would use \pdfstartlink goto struct name {whatever_struct} name{whatever_normal} which gets problematic if you never defined whatever_struct.

5:25 PM
@MarcelKrüger I thought I wrote yesterday that I think that you are right that names will probably not work? The reference makes a difference here. In goto actions /D can be name, byte string, or array, but /SD is only an array. So using some attr is fine as long as it can be used with the goto keyword, so that the other destinations still give warnings or do you see it differently?

@UlrikeFischer PDF does not allow to use names for the destinations, but the initial implementation allows to use names to reference structured destinations anyway and just replaces them internally with objects. (The motivation is to allow reusing the name of the regular destination to avoid having to track two identifiers.) If we have direct support for creating structured destinations, then having direct support for using them instead of using something attr is IMO more consistent.
Anyway I implemented both approaches, are you able to test with Linux binaries or can compile TeX Live for your system?

@MarcelKrüger no I can't compile ;-(. I'm always relying on Akira to provide binaries.

5:40 PM
@UlrikeFischer I'm trying some cross-compilation, but I'm not sure if that will work out.

@MarcelKrüger I could write Akira and ask for help. Send me whatever is needed and I will do it, that's not a problem.

@barbarabeeton how to disgust 2 countries at the same time: twitter.com/eduardobera/status/…

@Rmano that's just seafood pizza. What's the fuss? :þ

@CarLaTeX ^^^^^
@Plergux ...with rice...

@Rmano yeah? I hope they got extra cheese and mayo. :þ

5:48 PM
@Rmano o.O

@Plergux :þ (now I have þ on altGr-p, nice!)

@Rmano ooh
@MarcelKrüger ooh

6:10 PM
@Rmano -- Yes, there are limits. But sadly, I've just discovered that my favorite pizza place hss removed black olives from their Pizza Romano (artichoke hearts). I can still get them, though, as an addition, also anchovies. Custom toppings do allow pineapple (from which I abstain), but no pickles.

6:21 PM
@Rmano Wooooohoooooooo! :þ it makes the best raspberries too :þ

6:34 PM
@barbarabeeton oh no, Romana is an awesome pizza!

@PauloCereda -- True. My other favorite is Pesto, which starts with a white cheese base, then adds pesto and thin slices of fresh tomato. Very simple, and very good.

@UlrikeFischer Why would I let Akira have all the fun ;P You should have gotten a link by mail with an example file and the binary.

@MarcelKrüger ooh
@barbarabeeton I like Toscana a lot too. :)

6:55 PM
@UlrikeFischer The LuaTeX question about the fixed luaotfload bug reminded me that we probably should do a luaotfload release soon. Is there anything you are aware of which should be resolved before doing a release?

@barbarabeeton @UlrikeFischer @samcarter oh no twitter.com/outspanned/status/1440279968554967057

@MarcelKrüger öh which one?

Q: Using polyglossia, microtype and newcomputermodern with LuaLaTeX results in "0.0.0.0.0" being added

azurUsing the packages polyglossia, microtype and newcomputermodern when compiling with LuaLaTeX leads to ".0.0.0.0.0" being added. This occurs at the beginning of the document and with section numbering. Is there a way to circumvent this behavior? \documentclass{article} \usepackage{polyglossia} \u...

@MarcelKrüger ooh loopback :)

@PauloCereda You got a very weird network setup.

@MarcelKrüger quack :)
@MarcelKrüger We have to use masks for protection :)

@PauloCereda :D

@MarcelKrüger <3

7:41 PM
@PauloCereda ❤️

8:17 PM
@MarcelKrüger Oh, it is a luaotfload issue?

@PauloCereda :D

@UlrikeFischer Kind of, HarfBuzz fonts reported unicode codepoints as floating point values, since microtype doesn't expect that it and prints the values to TeX which appends .0 to indicate that these are floats and not integers. They stay in the input stream since TeX only reads an integer when reading a codepoint.
We could argue that microtype should make sure that it prints the values in the right format, but I don't think that it's reasonable to treat codepoints as floats, so I think it's more of a luaotfload than a microtype issue.

8:37 PM
@MarcelKrüger I was just wondering if the problem is triggered by polyglossia forcing harfbuzz (I which they wouldn't do it). But yes I think one should do an update. But I don't have much time currently to check the docu etc. Can you manage it?

@UlrikeFischer I'll do it, but it will take some time.

@MarcelKrüger I will try tomorrow on the other PC, I don't have currently a setup for experimental binaries on my laptop.

8:54 PM
@Rmano Heresy!

9:12 PM
@PauloCereda here, have some Voltaire :þ open.spotify.com/track/…
