When we had a long (1600 message) thread on debian-legal trying to get them to agree to LPPL (which says essentially the same thing) it basically transpired that LPPL was problematic because it enforced the "change the name if you change the source" but the tex statement was not because it was worded incorrectly so not legally enforceable.

Q: Font installed in Latex but there are characters missing

I have (i thought successfully) installed a font (Gill Sans) in LaTeX. .afm, .tfm, .pfb, .fd, .vf and style files are all in place and map file has been updated. @PatrickGundlach It used to say it was public domain and have a copyright and say you shouldn't change it. I think the PD bit got removed (but was essentially the basis fro saying that LPPL (original version) was bad but plain tex was good)

@DavidCarlisle I am totally confused. That sounds much like "shared source", not Open Source. "You can look at the code, but must not alter it". And I can't find the permission to copy the executable either. The code (--version) tells me that it is lgpl, but where does it come from? Has DEK decided on lgpl?

... I'll wait for what Karl tells me.

There was a page about licensing with legal sentences that can almost always exploited by sneaky lawyers. So the conclusion was to skip any legally incomprehensible sentence that might cause trouble and place clear conditions that anyone can understand with clear legal hook in the end "such as in case of legal conflict, I win and you accept" :)

Q: Rendering a 870 mb latex file

I have a tikz file that is 870 mb and I want to compile it using some latex. How can I achieve this? I have tried increasing the amount of main memory to latex to the maximum and it still doesn't render. Currently I get the following output while compiling. http://pastebin.com/4bD9r1Ld

Q: How to create simple graph in latex.

How to create simple graph in latex. x,y axis with straight line drawn at (0,0) at 45 degress through the x,y axis. The graphs here are excellent but just too complicated for newcommers.
