@UlrikeFischer ooh

3:02 PM
@UlrikeFischer Roasty ducks at tea time?

@UlrikeFischer thank you for filling in for me

@DavidCarlisle glad to be of service

@DavidCarlisle quack

@PauloCereda @UlrikeFischer tells me it's duck for tea

@DavidCarlisle oh no

My junk mail filter is really well trained. It even marks mail from me as junk.

@AlanMunn probably a standard setting

@DavidCarlisle It seems to think that anything that announces a conference is spam no matter who it's from.

@AlanMunn Hi! This is not surprising at all, even I have problems to classify conference announcements...

@Rmano oh I was thinking it would flag anything from you as spam, even if you were posting a conference announcement

5:38 PM
@DavidCarlisle any idea why this errors?
\documentclass[twocolumn]{memoir}
\AddToHook{shipout/background}{\put (0pt,0pt){}}
\begin{document}
blub

\end{document}

@UlrikeFischer a box was supposed to be there
@UlrikeFischer marginpar...

@DavidCarlisle which marginpar?

! A <box> was supposed to be here.
<to be read again>
                   \def
\hb@xt@ ...string \noexpand \mph@nr }}}\else \def
                                                  \mph@tempa {}\fi \mph@orig...

@DavidCarlisle ah, with \usepackage{mparhack} it fails in article too.

@UlrikeFischer \renewcommand\@picture it undoes the picture mode changes
@UlrikeFischer although it still errors if you use (0,0)

5:48 PM
@DavidCarlisle but only if eso-pic is loaded? Or is there somewhere a second instance?

@UlrikeFischer no you are right, it isn't that. I could look but it's duck dinner time

@DavidCarlisle I will look a bit, and if I don't find something sent a list to the team. Not so good if memoir breaks because of this.

6:34 PM
@AlanMunn Mine is even worse. The other week my spam filter marked a mail mentioning chocolate as spam. How can it filter out something so important?

4 hours later…
10:56 PM
Is there anyone here that can solve this puzzle?

Q: How to automatically update a PDF viewed on the right whenever the corresponding EPS is changed on the left?

Kim Jong UnI am using Visual Studio Code to learn PostScript language. I use the following task.json to convert EPS to PDF. { "version": "2.0.0", "tasks": [ { "label": "EPS", "command": "ps2pdf", "args": [ "${file}" ], ...

@KimJongUn I don't know how to trigger conversion from vscode, although why convert why not just view the postscript directly? ghostscript that you are using to convert can display postscript (in fact it was written for that use, pdf display came later)

@DavidCarlisle OK. Thanks. I converted to PDF because I want to use page-fit provided by acrobat reader than can be open inside VSCode.

11:14 PM
@KimJongUn oh can't you open gsview inside vscode? I have used vscode a bit but only occasionally and haven't looked at configuring it at all, it's also just gone midnight and so ignoire me, I am not your most reliable source of information:-)

@DavidCarlisle Thank you very much for your time. :-)
@DavidCarlisle: I haven't checked whether or not gsview can be open in vscode. I will try it later.
