just 30 to go...

9:09 AM
@Rmano better to get 152000 to position the comma as well

9:22 AM
Yes, that could be a good plan too.

10:14 AM
@DavidCarlisle full circle: github.com/charliesome/doslinux

10:55 AM
@UlrikeFischer PR looks good to me, I had just checked the branch out locally and was looking when your PR arrived, so review didn't take long:-)

Sep 7 '17 at 8:16, by Skillmon
@ChristianHupfer it's called honest.
@DavidCarlisle I saw a question in which it coloured no \begin until the first \begin{document} after which every \begin was.

@Skillmonlikestopanswers.xyz I have a local version of highlight.js checked out if I get a bit of time I may set up a github repo where people can work on better regex for latex before making a PR to the upstream highlight.js

1 hour later…
12:04 PM
My colleague in the office next door spotted a new way to make an umlaut: Schr$\ddot{\textmd{o}}$dinger. Where there's a will, there is a way.

@HaraldHanche-Olsen looks like a half dead, half living umlaut, so quite fitting ;-)

@UlrikeFischer ooh
(with apologies to @PauloCereda)
@UlrikeFischer I shudder to contemplate how the author would have tried to deal with Erdős.

12:34 PM
@HaraldHanche-Olsen I hope you suggested that they should use \(..\) for a better latex style

12:44 PM
@DavidCarlisle do you have auctex and preview in your emacs? Can you check what happens with it and latex-dev if pgf is used in a document?

@UlrikeFischer auctex yes not sure if preview is set up, I could look
@UlrikeFischer doesn't work anyway:-)

@DavidCarlisle what doesn't work anyway?

@UlrikeFischer preview dies in gs somewhere probably cygwin paths not set up, I could try to get it working before seeing if it breaks in -dev or ...

@DavidCarlisle who else uses emacs?

1:00 PM
@UlrikeFischer I do. But I am so old-fashioned, I still run latex in a terminal window instead of inside emacs. I haven't set up preview either; I just keep the file open in skim.

@UlrikeFischer would you opt for Duzen or Siezen in the German translation of learnlatex?

@Skillmonlikestopanswers.xyz I hoped I wouldn't have to decide it ;-). The french translation uses "vous" (so Siezen), and I have a preference for it, but I'm not sure what (probably much younger) new german users would expect.

1:33 PM
@HaraldHanche-Olsen ooh
@DavidCarlisle \(\) is used for italics, right?

@UlrikeFischer @PauloCereda

@DavidCarlisle oh no

@DavidCarlisle ^^ LaTeX3 kernel development in a nutshell

1:49 PM
@PauloCereda who is who?

@UlrikeFischer @David is probably drinking tea while others are working. :D

@PauloCereda Drinking tea is better than eating roasted duck

@samcarter_is_at_topanswers.xyz definitely
@samcarter_is_at_topanswers.xyz someone lectured me about what's considered tea and what's not during TUG 2018. Probably... Joseph.

@PauloCereda no messing around with a national treasure :)

@samcarter_is_at_topanswers.xyz And we are crowded with those non-tea thingies here. :)

1:55 PM
@samcarter_is_at_topanswers.xyz you could stir nutella into it

@DavidCarlisle Oh, I don't mind nutella in the tea, I'll anyway take the coffee :)

@DavidCarlisle ooh Nutella tea
Nu-tea-lla
/sad trombone

I think I will make me some tea, this conversation made me thirsty ;-)
@HenriMenke are you there?

2:11 PM
@UlrikeFischer ooh tea

1 hour later…
3:13 PM
@UlrikeFischer Now I'm there but you are probably not there anymore ;-)

@HenriMenke no I'm still there. I wanted to ask about the pgf fixes for the next latex.

3:35 PM
@UlrikeFischer Sure, when is the next LaTeX scheduled?

@HenriMenke 4 days ;-)

@UlrikeFischer Oh
@UlrikeFischer Well, I better get my shit together then.

@HenriMenke well probably a few more, but the official day is the first of october.
@HenriMenke I have been using a patched pgfutil-latex.def (with the new hook code for issue 900 and with the preview patches disabled for 923) now all the time, and saw not issue. That doesn't replace a full test suite, but I'm compiling a quite large variety of documents.

2 hours later…

Hmm, this is curious: I have been counting document classes (*.cls) in the TeX Live tree every year about this time of year, since 2014. For the first time, the number of document classes has decreased (from 723 to 659). I wonder why. The number of packages (*.sty) keeps going up.
2
… a large number of the vanished class files have names beginning with exa.
