Hi --- why is the package eso-pic affected by the new ltshipout? (sorry if already asked elsewhere) Here is an example showing the difference between latex and latex-dev, taken from eso-pic documentation in CTAN: github.com/texjporg/tests-shipout/files/5286687/eso-ex1.zip

@HironobuYAMASHITA it uses atbegshi and atbegshi is now emulated. So changes are possible. I will check.

@UlrikeFischer Yes, I used dvipdfmx; but the difference can be reproduced with pdflatex / pdflatex-dev also.

@HironobuYAMASHITA It is not related to the shipout code, \@tempdimc doesn't have the value the code expect as the length is now used internally too and so changes. The example shouldn't use such temp lengths, if it can't be sure that other code interferes. If you replace @tempdimc e.g. by \my@tempdimc it works again.

@UlrikeFischer Oh! I see the usage of \@tempdimc in \@picture of LaTeX2e 2020-10-01. Thanks for pointing out that; I'll report it to the author of eso-pic.

@HironobuYAMASHITA you mean as in \@defaultunitsset\@tempdimc{#2}\unitlength\vbox to\@tempdimc ? There it is set and immediately used so there is no assumption that it has any value later in the code.

@DavidCarlisle the problem is that the examples stores a value in \@tempdimc and then use it later when it has been changed by your code.
