@Rmano you forgot the ogonek

9:16 AM
@DavidCarlisle that's a nice suggestion!

@Rmano You might have thought @barbarabeeton would have suggested it, but she only knows about semicolons.

@Rmano ooh :)
@DavidCarlisle ooh

@DavidCarlisle ^^^^ @PauloCereda

@Rmano ooh half an ambigram

9:35 AM
@Rmano change the 5s to 6 and 9 and the 3 to 8 to aim for rotational symmetry

@DavidCarlisle ooh ambigram

@Rmano so that's a target you could reach....

@DavidCarlisle Yes I must strive for 16891 and choose an appropriate font
I ruined the run now accepting an answer...

9:42 AM
@Rmano if you restrict to only having answers that isn't a problem but you are always at the mercy of a passing downvoter moving you off the correct value mod 5.

@DavidCarlisle I can still edit tags descriptions ;-)
@DavidCarlisle Would be nice (but too easy) to have generic-valued bounties

@Rmano plus you can always find a few of egregs answers to downvote

@DavidCarlisle Ah, yes ;-) I forgot that downvoting has a cost (a pity you can't do that on questions...)

@UlrikeFischer all the examples now run at latexonline.cc (although the biber and platex ones do cheat)

10:00 AM
@DavidCarlisle ooh

10:22 AM
@DavidCarlisle how do they cheat?

@UlrikeFischer er well for biblatex it inserts backend=bibtex, and for platex it uses luatex, and replaces {jsarticle} by {article}\usepackage{luatexja}

@DavidCarlisle the previous issue asks how to use bibtex ...

@UlrikeFischer yes but it is confused (bibtex works but he has some complicated arrangements of subimports in his git repository and probably confused the wrappers parsing of aux file, I decided not to comment there...)

@DavidCarlisle ;-)

11:07 AM
@UlrikeFischer, can you reproduce that fading issue in recent versions of Acrobat/Adobe Reader?

11:21 AM
@DavidPurton I hadn't tried as I was too convinced that it is a problem with older versiona, but I tried now. In adobe reader I have no export to postscript function but in adobe pro the export doesn't succeed for the pdflatex/lualatex pdf because of "an internal error", with the xelatex pdf it works.

I guess that fits with my initial problem. I guess the printer I used for the job was printing using a PostScript driver.

I asked @NihonGo: "Do you also write these extreme Kanjis with 56 or 88 strokes in these 1cm squares in Genko Yoshi paper? How is that supposed to work?
Examples: search 'most difficult kanji' "

------> Answer: Theoretically yes. However, they are rarely used. It is more common to use the "Jōyō Kanji List" in everyday life.

@DavidCarlisle No response from Melchior (soul author) yet. It's been a week, so it now seems likely there won't be any. (@DavidCarlisle, @UlrikeFischer, @FaheemMitha)

12:15 PM
Hey @Circumscribe. How goes it?

12:29 PM
@FaheemMitha Good. Nothing exciting going on here.

@Circumscribe How goes it with the Zombie Apocalypse?
I mean, the pandemic.

@FaheemMitha Things are still under control and measures are being relaxed gradually.
@FaheemMitha How goes it with you?

@Circumscribe Not great. Things are still escalating over here.

@FaheemMitha where are you?

@Circumscribe Bombay, India.
So why are you trying to contact Melchior?

12:38 PM
@FaheemMitha to ask him to fix soul.

@Circumscribe I thought the plan was to do an NMU. Is he the author?

@FaheemMitha He is the package author.

@Circumscribe Ok. So what's plan B?

@FaheemMitha One time update I guess.

@Circumscribe Ok. Are you considering that, then?

12:45 PM
@FaheemMitha Perhaps.

@Circumscribe Ok.

@cis -- Fascinating! But there's a silly misspelling in several panels -- "storkes" instead of "strokes". And the putative meaning of the kanji with the most strokes -- "cloud dragon" -- has a special meaning for me. We have a segment of an old Chinese theater curtain, embroidered gold thread on black silk, of a cloud dragon, framed and hung on a wall. I'll have to learn to calligraph this kanji to caption the embroidery.

@barbarabeeton ooh storkes :)

cis
@barbarabeeton Oha, Foto please. ;)

@cis -- I'll try.

1:05 PM
@DavidCarlisle quack

@PauloCereda dinner

@DavidCarlisle oh no

@PauloCereda actually, today, oh yes:-)

@DavidCarlisle OH NO
/quacks in despair

1:18 PM
@PauloCereda did you get my mail?

@UlrikeFischer no... :( let me check spam...
@UlrikeFischer goit it, hold on!

1:30 PM
@FaheemMitha I've contacted CTAN about it. We'll see what they say.

2:03 PM
@UlrikeFischer quack

1 hour later…
3:11 PM
@Circumscribe Nice work.

@cis -- Here's our dragons. The light isn't great, and there's a reflection, but they're there in the clouds.

@barbarabeeton Nice

@barbarabeeton they seem to have acquired a light sabre from a passing Jedi

@DavidCarlisle -- That's reflected afternoon light through the window. I don't think these guys need much additional protection.
