@DavidCarlisle didn't you want to remove the catcode checks too?

@UlrikeFischer tempted, I might yet...

9:22 AM
@PauloCereda Happy quacking to you, too!

@CarLaTeX ooh a duck

Did you know to what \csname\endcsname expands?

12:15 PM
@Skillmonlikestopanswers.xyz yes

@DavidCarlisle I think it's funny that its string representation is \csname\endcsname... :)

@Skillmonlikestopanswers.xyz actually that got adjusted in one of DEKs relatively recent tex changes

@DavidCarlisle "relatively recent" meaning before my birth?

@Skillmonlikestopanswers.xyz not unless you are younger than I think. I like this form best:
\endlinechar=-1
\show\
\bye

@DavidCarlisle I was born '93.

12:21 PM
@Skillmonlikestopanswers.xyz the change was in 2014

@DavidCarlisle ooh, but then it was before my TeX programming time (but after my first usage).

@Skillmonlikestopanswers.xyz erorlog.tex shows
* 6 January 2014
C947. Space after \csname\endcsname to match other spaces. (Oleg Bulatov) @262

@DavidCarlisle but was that the actual change to show \csname\endcsname instead of something else?

@Skillmonlikestopanswers.xyz no I think it used to not add a space after (as the actual name had no letters) so \expandafter\noexpand\csname\endcsname hmm would \write out as \csname\endcsnamehmm

12:52 PM
I'm so glad that the Americans invented pizza. Such a great idea :) @CarLaTeX

2 hours later…
3:21 PM
@Skillmonlikestopanswers.xyz Fake news

3:32 PM
@CarLaTeX I had a pizza today, it was named Americano. Had ham, salami, mushrooms and artichokes on it.

@Skillmonlikestopanswers.xyz It seems too normal to be American :)

@CarLaTeX thought the same :)

@Skillmonlikestopanswers.xyz hahaha

1 hour later…
4:54 PM
@DavidCarlisle See Skype ...

@JosephWright yep just got in and got it thanks

5:54 PM
Everyone seen the TeXworks testing call?

@DavidCarlisle \DeclareFontSeriesChangeRule doesn't do what I expect it to do. Do you know if this should work?
\documentclass[a4paper]{article}

\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}

\begin{document}

{
  \fontfamily{phv}\fontseries{mc}\selectfont
  THIS IS SAMPLE TEXT \textbf{THIS IS SAMPLE TEXT}%
}

\DeclareFontSeriesChangeRule {mc}{b}{bc}{}
\DeclareFontSeriesChangeRule {m} {c}{c}{mc}
\DeclareFontSeriesChangeRule {m}{mc}{c}{mc}

{\fontfamily{phv}\fontseries{c}\selectfont %grr
  THIS IS SAMPLE TEXT \textbf{THIS IS SAMPLE TEXT}%
}

{\fontfamily{phv}\fontseriesforce{mc}% this works
  \selectfont
  THIS IS SAMPLE TEXT \textbf{THIS IS SAMPLE TEXT}%
@JosephWright no. Where?

@UlrikeFischer TeXworks mailing list
@UlrikeFischer texworks@tug.org
@UlrikeFischer I'm going to test out, as always
I like TeXworks ;)

6:10 PM
@JosephWright no?

6:26 PM
@DavidCarlisle Johannes asked me about Git and .lvt files

@JosephWright this testing idea might catch on

7:03 PM
@UlrikeFischer I think I'll leave the catcode settings for now, so push luacolor to ctan?

1 hour later…
8:23 PM
@JosephWright and I like that TeX works.

@DavidCarlisle fine with me. (In view of the \endlinechar issue a bit catcode paranoia is perhaps ok ;-))

8:49 PM
@UlrikeFischer submitted
@MarcelKrüger ^^^ thanks for the help

1 hour later…
10:03 PM
important new use of luahbtex/lualatex-dev on ctan ...
