12:48 AM
@PhelypeOleinik OMG, the sounds. :D

7 hours later…
8:00 AM
@PhelypeOleinik happy not-brexit day:-)

8:30 AM
what happend to ctan.org ?? It is all messed up and get loud noises from it. any one have same problems?
may be because it is halloween ! I got it now. Sounds are scary.

8:48 AM
@DavidCarlisle ooh

@DavidCarlisle hi David, regarding our previous conversation about ssfont family, I now understand that redefining it was overdo and not necessary. Thank you for trying to correct my mistake. :)

9:09 AM
@EnthusiasticEngineer :-)

9:38 AM
boo

how are crosspostings dealt with? see: tex.stackexchange.com/q/514304/100482

@naphaneal ask people not to do it, but if they do, they do...

@naphaneal If there are crosslinks I normally don't mind much (but if I don't have the time or the will to check the crosspostings I don't answer such questions).

@DavidCarlisle Is this good?

@Skillmon yes but probably short lived

9:54 AM
@DavidCarlisle Honestly, I can't follow when which Brexit will not be done.
@PhelypeOleinik Are you now responsible for the documentation? Or should I ping both of you?

@Skillmon you can't? You and the other 7.5 billion people in the same position.

Great, dissolution coming at Halloween
ooh money

10:11 AM
@PauloCereda \bf!!

@mickep AAAAAH
It's spooky
@mickep <3

1 hour later…
11:14 AM
@wilx The best part is people around asking “what's that noise?” :-)
@DavidCarlisle Hopefully that remains true for the next Halloween...

@PhelypeOleinik There's another sound which is quite... embarassing.

@Skillmon We don't have a strict “I am responsible for ...”, I just happened to read your message before Joseph (but sure, you can ping me too :-)
@PauloCereda On CTAN?

@PhelypeOleinik Yes

@PauloCereda Oh, my. Which one?

@PhelypeOleinik I don't know how to exactly reproduce it. Well... better leave it that way... :)

11:19 AM
@PauloCereda Probably. The screaming lady is weird enough

@PauloCereda I didn't get any sounds yet.
@PauloCereda ok, now I get sounds.

11:39 AM
@PauloCereda If it's the sound I suspect... it's when you click where there is no link (sometimes at least...). (high pitched "Aw!", that's not exactly scaring :-):-):-))

@Rmano they play just by moving the cursor on the page (at least for me)

@Skillmon Ah, yes, in the PC. I checked with a tablet ;-)

@Rmano Yes, that's the one. :)

@JosephWright Norbert seems to be quite happy with the luahbtex development ;-)

@UlrikeFischer Where's that?

11:54 AM
@JosephWright he is sending feature requests to the luaotfload repo.

12:05 PM
@UlrikeFischer and of course to iftex that trigged the last round of re-arranged packages:-)

@UlrikeFischer ooh
@DavidCarlisle ooh

@DavidCarlisle yes, interesting side effect of luahbtex ;-)

yo'
12:55 PM
If you thought that BST stood for a Bibliography STyle, then you were completely wrong. It stands for a BeaST.
and good afernoon, btw! :)

@yo' I thought it stands for BorderlineStrangeType

yo'
@Skillmon s/orderline/rutally/

@barbarabeeton oh

2:17 PM
@yo' British Summer Time (it just ended)

yo'
@barbarabeeton :)

@UlrikeFischer thanks for reading the manual:-)

@DavidCarlisle I took "Unless Ulrike's PDF manual ..." as hint ;-)

2:32 PM
@UlrikeFischer You spotted that

2:47 PM
@UlrikeFischer ooh
@DavidCarlisle ooh

@PhelypeOleinik Try ctan.net :-)

@barbarabeeton Oh no! (By the way, Domino's pizzas aren't good in general. There is a Domino near my home and I tried)

oh no
Peter Cushing Doctor Who is not canon OH NO

@StefanKottwitz Nice, I didn't know that one. Is it just another interface to the same site?

@PhelypeOleinik its a mirror, isn't it? :)
Am I the only one annoyed by this? twitter.com/TeXtip/status/1189916229999452161

2:59 PM
@PauloCereda you had been the only one to see it. It's not annoying, just wrong.

@DavidCarlisle phew

@PauloCereda the first bit is usually right

@DavidCarlisle Ah yes, the math thingy is the issue...

@PauloCereda I'm not sure. Could be. I didn't know mirrors had dedicated web interfaces (not that I know much about it), I thought all of them were accessed through ctan.org

@PhelypeOleinik some do, I guess. Or not. Maybe. Perhaps. :D

3:08 PM
@PauloCereda 50% sure I may be correct about something :-)

ooh and when you are sure, you are 100% correct. :)

@PauloCereda Who knows about what, though. The backslash tweet is 100% sure about it :-)

@PhelypeOleinik yes a mirror

@PauloCereda you should reply pointing out \textbackslash will avoid changing the font (most of the time)

3:25 PM
@DavidCarlisle ack!

@PauloCereda just below that I see a link to texblog.org/2013/11/19/mirroring-text-in-latex where "hidden" means "documented in the manual" @UlrikeFischer would be so proud of me for hiding features so well.

@DavidCarlisle ooh :)

@PauloCereda that was my cunning plan: hide stuff in the manual, as no one looks there.

@DavidCarlisle that's a very good plan. :)

@DavidCarlisle ^^

@MarcelKrüger I wonder if I will manage an upload before you implement the next feature ;-). While looking yesterday at the documentation I stumbled over the dflt/DFLT business which reminded me of github.com/wspr/fontspec/issues/372. Does the casing in the input matter in luaotfload?

3:52 PM
@UlrikeFischer At least the hard code normalizes casing, so you can pass whatever you want. I'm pretty sure the fontloader does that too.

@MarcelKrüger yes, I thought so, I found dflt and DFLT in the harf code, and knowing that Hans converts everything to lowercase it is probable that he takes care of it too. I wonder if the tests for a script or language are case insensitive too.

@UlrikeFischer You mean the tests if a script or language exists? That also normalizes everything.

@MarcelKrüger do you know a font that has a DFLT script?

@UlrikeFischer Latin Modern has a DFLT script.

yo'
4:12 PM
Where do you switch off the CTAN sounds? This is far from being funny. :(

@yo' Settings then pick the default skin

yo'
@JosephWright yeah, that failed to load ANY skin, and I have just basic HTML page
great. Please people, if you make "funny" "jokes", make them properly.

@yo' Hmm, yes ... Same here .. I ws sure that was the way ...
@yo' It's tricky, but it you click in the right place in one of the basic colour ones, it gets activated
@yo' Double-click 'in' the 'Grey' skin heading and all should be back to normal

@yo' F2 on my machine

yo'
@JosephWright no "gray" for me :-/

4:18 PM

@yo' simply choose the skin you want. Works fine for me.

yo'

@yo' Go to Settings
@yo' Then hover cursor over middle of 'Gray' and double-clicj

yo'
ah ok
thanks
thanks a lot

I can't believe we are having this again: it was the same last year

yo'
4:26 PM
@JosephWright really? Good that I obviously didn't need CTAN 365 days ago...

@yo' Yes, really

@JosephWright close 206 as a beamer issue?

@DavidCarlisle Done: seems I can't transfer :(

Merry Christmas!
Oct 31 = 25 Dec

4:50 PM
@JosephWright the current policy appears to be (a) move repo under latex3 account then (b) transfer issues....

@DavidCarlisle ;-). But I don't think that Denis' request can work, one could import a frame as graphic but then all the links are lost, so you would actually need the whole code.
Could someone confirm that this fails in a current texlive:
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
\usepackage[english]{babel}
\usepackage{csquotes}
\usepackage[style=oscola]{biblatex}
\addbibresource{biblatex-examples.bib}

\begin{document}
\cite{doody}
\printbibliography
\end{document}

@DavidCarlisle ER, yes, but I think Frank would kill me

@CarLaTeX -- Domino's refuses to have anchovies available as a topping. I can forgive a lot, but not that. I simply don't go to Domino's.

@UlrikeFischer Quite true: \againframe is not really the same as an xr at all
I hope people are enjoying all of my siunitx check-ins ...
For once no emails to go with them ...

5:06 PM
@barbarabeeton oh no

@PauloCereda the script is working hard ... ;-)

@UlrikeFischer Fails to me with ! Undefined control sequence. l.10 \DeclareBiblatexOption

@UlrikeFischer ooh a naughty script :)

@PhelypeOleinik That's not the error I get. Is your system up-to-date??

@UlrikeFischer Yes. Updated earlier today from ftp.fau.de

5:22 PM
@PhelypeOleinik curious, could you sent me the log?

yo'
@barbarabeeton Well, my experience is that Domino refuses to make pizza.
4

@UlrikeFischer Sure! I've just sent it

@barbarabeeton I totally agree :)

@PhelypeOleinik you have a local biblatex.sty in your folder.

My fault for forgetting to grep in the oscola folder :-(

5:34 PM
@moewe oh there is a github. Neither the docu nor ctan knows that so I wrote a mail ;-). I think biblatex-historian has the same problem, but that style is old, so probably behind repair anyway.

@UlrikeFischer Ah, sorry. I didn't see that one.
@UlrikeFischer Now I get the Option 'url' already defined error

@UlrikeFischer Yes, biblatex-historian has issues with the 3.3 name format change that were never resolved, so I'm not sure if anything will happen there.

@moewe droit-fr fails too due to the name format.

@UlrikeFischer So do biblatex-swiss-legal, biblatex-jura, biblatex-juradiss. There are a few other styles on CTAN that may not fail with an error directly, but are essentially dead.
biblatex-luh-ipw fails due to a syntax error in the .lbx (biblatex got a bit stricter there).

5:50 PM
@moewe yes I already excluded that one (I'm currently running a script with a mwe over all bbx).

^^^Halloween @PauloCereda

@UlrikeFischer ooh <3

@UlrikeFischer Ah. Is that for the Companion? Did you get my reply to your mail?

ooh book secrets
shhhhh :)

@moewe yes and yes.

ooh more secrets
the plot thickens

5:54 PM
@UlrikeFischer Ah good. I wasn't too sure because of the spam thingy and Google Mail complaining about your mail address.

@moewe Google is mean :)

@PauloCereda The spam filter most certainly is.

@moewe I was a bit busy with other things but today I started with Paulo's help in earnest with the script.

@moewe :)
@UlrikeFischer ooh more secrets :)

@UlrikeFischer I can imagine. If there is anything I can help with, just send me an email.

6:03 PM
@moewe I get an error with ext-authoryear-tiecomp, is that a real style (the docu knows tcomp, tecomp, ticomp and teicomp)?

@UlrikeFischer Urgh! That is one of mine. I'll have a look.

@moewe Bibliography macro 'cite:dump:extradate' undefined.

Typo in the .cbx and the docu...
I should really try and start using l3build testing for biblatex styles ...

@moewe I'm building up loads of tests for siunitx v3 in the same vein
@moewe Sounds like a plan to me: let me know if you need new features

6:24 PM
@JosephWright My main issue is that I can't have elegant short tests of expandable macros, AFAICS we need to send lots of text to the .log with \showoutput and the number of lines explodes. But I think feature-wise we should be fine. Last time I tried I gave up, because my local MikTeX setup would produce slightly different log files s than the travis TeX live for non-ASCII chars

@moewe Ah, right: yes, expandable is good
@moewe If you look at a lot of my siunitx v3 work, it's about making short internal stuff that can be tested. For v3.1, I'm hoping to make even more stuff expandable for the same reason
@moewe MiKTeX vs TeX Live still a bit tricky: there' a reason the team all use TL for testing in that sense (though @UlrikeFischer and I also have MiKTeX available)
Now, how to convince someone I need a MacBook Pro ... for LaTeX testing of course ;)

@JosephWright uktug? :-)

@DavidCarlisle Don't
@DavidCarlisle Skype

@JosephWright Mhh, I guess I need to install TeX live then.

@moewe I could look again at this: probably with a bit of work I can suss out the normalistion

6:30 PM
@JosephWright Question is if that is really worth it. Installing and using TeX live for testing is probably not that big of an issue for most people (it isn't for me, just haven't got around to it).

@moewe one can always exclude a few tests on travis or locally if one knows that they will differ.

6:50 PM
@PauloCereda the following fails for me with "l3regex.sty not found". Could you check if this has been already reported at github.com/abntex/biblatex-abnt/issues? They are all writing in portuguese there ;-(
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
\usepackage[english]{babel}
\usepackage{csquotes}

\usepackage[style=abnt-ibid]{biblatex}
\addbibresource{biblatex-examples.bib}

\begin{document}
\cite{doody}
\printbibliography
\end{document}

@UlrikeFischer No issues contain regex ...

@JosephWright one does. :)

@PauloCereda Closed and about regex internals, not the entire module

@UlrikeFischer github.com/abntex/biblatex-abnt/issues/… this comment mentions about l3regex, but no sign of fix from the official team.
@JosephWright bah :)

@PauloCereda does it say that one get an error? If not could you perhaps add a comment?

7:01 PM
@UlrikeFischer I think it's better to open a new issue, as the problem is mention en passant to another issue.

@PauloCereda fine with me.

@UlrikeFischer :) Any additional hint for them?

8:06 PM
@PauloCereda thanks ;-)

@PauloCereda Wow you even managed to write it in Portuguese

8:31 PM
@moewe \ifnumequal\blx@uniquename\blx@opt@uniquename@false looks dubious. Where they both numbers at some time?

@UlrikeFischer Yes and I guess so, though I would have to check.

it pays sometimes to see the terminal output ^^^

9:12 PM
@moewe ext-verbose-trad2 give the error ! Package keyval Error: inxref undefined.

1 hour later…
10:35 PM
Does anyone else have these horrible sounds coming form the webpage when visiting CTAN and trying to copy text from there by right-clicking the mouse? Is it related to Halloween? Bad judgement in any case.

23 hours ago, by Phelype Oleinik
Happy CTAN-is-annoying day everyone!
@bp2017 Yes, it's their Halloween thing (all tricks but no treats, apparently). Go to “settings” and pick a different theme. It should be gone in a few hours though.

1 hour later…
11:52 PM
@bp2017 It is annoying but why do people go to ctan? I think last time I went (apart from the upload pages) was last year at this time to see what people were complaining about then.

@DavidCarlisle I can remind you again in an year's time ;-)
