hey chat!
Iwas wondering how this kind of slide be made in beamer
I wonder how the background is set?
also how the heading as set

4 hours later…
6:19 AM
@UlrikeFischer @DavidCarlisle Come to Northern Italy, there are a lot of them on the lakes and on menus

2 hours later…
8:42 AM
@CarLaTeX you should invite @PauloCereda

@DavidCarlisle oh no

9:14 AM
@DavidCarlisle That should be a secret :)

@CarLaTeX ooh a secret
We ducks are very good at keeping secrets

9:28 AM
@PauloCereda We all know it!

@CarLaTeX (")>/
@DavidCarlisle quack

2 hours later…
11:08 AM
@DavidCarlisle oh, no, you changed something in longtable :(

@Skillmon oh no

@PauloCereda Now I have to make sure that my package is compatible with the new version.

@Skillmon only doc changes since last year

11:23 AM
@DavidCarlisle really? So it is safe to assume that everything still works with the new release. Thanks, that safes me half an hour of testing :)

@Skillmon actuall, since Feb of this year (ie they went out in texlive 2018)

@DavidCarlisle perhaps you should include the version in the documentation, not only the date, as the changes section refers to versions.

@Skillmon the thanks footnote to the title has version number and date

@DavidCarlisle I wonder how it could take so long for my package to create the error message due to the version change. That's the issue if you build formats for every document you use.
@DavidCarlisle ah, saw it now :)

1 hour later…
12:39 PM
@PhelypeOleinik And writes answers too!

@PhelypeOleinik I still have TL2009 that came with TLC. :)
@PhelypeOleinik and managed to install it on my Wii

@PauloCereda You have, you don't use :-)
@PauloCereda Wait, what? .-.

@PhelypeOleinik :D
@PhelypeOleinik I am wacky :)

@PauloCereda I'm starting to understand that :-)

@PhelypeOleinik awww <3
wait a minute

12:57 PM
@PauloCereda Poor little guy. Neil was evil

@PhelypeOleinik he was!

1:22 PM
is there any difference between
```\end{tikzpicture}\hfill%
\begin{tikzpicture}```
and
```\end{tikzpicture}\hspace*{\fill}%
\begin{tikzpicture}```
?

I've read this https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/45948/what-is-the-difference-between-hspace-fill-and-hfill
but i can't see a difference. would it maybe better to use `\hspace*{\floatsep}%`? what's the "most correct" one?
ugh, i always forget the code highlighting ...

@sollniss \hspace{\fill} would be the same as \hfill. \hspace*{\fill} is slightly different, but I think in this case you wouldn't see a difference

@PhelypeOleinik i see

\documentclass{article}
\begin{document}
a\hspace{\fill}b\hspace{\fill}\par
a\hspace*{\fill}b\hspace*{\fill}\par
\end{document}
@sollniss ^^^
@sollniss \hspace* has "anchors" to prevent TeX from removing it where TeX would normally remove a glue (as in the end of a paragraph, like above)

@PhelypeOleinik so it is better to use \hspace*, just in case?

1:38 PM
@sollniss Not necessarily. Sometimes it's desirable that the space is removed. In the case you showed above the space wouldn't be removed anyway, so with or without the * wouldn't make a difference

@PhelypeOleinik so in my case it's just "whatever"? or should either be prefered for i.e. readability?

@sollniss I usually go for \hfill in those cases. Fewer keystrokes ;-)

@PhelypeOleinik alright thanks :)

@PhelypeOleinik and @sollniss -- Technically, without the star, \hspace (or any "unprotected" space) will be ignored at the beginning of a line. So, in addition to after \par, it applies after a blank line, after \\ , and if it happens to occur at a line break in the middle of a paragraph. (Similarly with \vspace in vertical mode.)

2 hours later…

@MarcelKrüger Regarding travis testing, it should be imho possible to install luahbtex from tlcontrib - we only need to ask Norbert to put them there regularly. Beside I just run a small test, and with the harfnode-code luahbtex outputs ....\TU/lmr/m/n/10 "61 instead of ....\TU/lmr/m/n/10 a. Is this to be expected?

3:59 PM
@UlrikeFischer also, Travis could use our TL Docker images. :)

@PauloCereda ? who is "our"?

@UlrikeFischer oh sorry... the Island of TeX :)

4:47 PM
Has anyone ever seen an "unsecure data" error when printing a PDF? Any idea what might cause it?

@AlanMunn when did the message appear?

@PauloCereda It was generated on the printer/copier display when printing from a USB. Other than that, I have no better info (not me personally).

@AlanMunn wow, quite unusual behaviour.

@PauloCereda Another file from the same USB, both LaTeX generated printed fine right after.

@AlanMunn ouch...

5:00 PM
@PauloCereda but those are the weak rabbits, that eat only vegetables.

@Skillmon ooh

5:13 PM
@UlrikeFischer Not really, I will change it back.

@MarcelKrüger, @UlrikeFischer I see that you've managed to prove the point about Tibetan

@JosephWright yay

@PauloCereda I'm still ... thinking about Aleph

@JosephWright So did Cantor? :)
(math people, tell this remark is still salvageable)

Omega is an extension of the TeX typesetting system that uses the Basic Multilingual Plane of Unicode. It was authored by John Plaice and Yannis Haralambous after TeX development was frozen in 1991, primarily to enhance TeX's multilingual typesetting abilities. It includes a new 16-bit font encoding for TeX, as well as fonts (omlgc and omah) covering a wide range of alphabets. At the 2004 TeX Users Group conference, Plaice announced his decision to split off a new project (not yet public), while Haralambous continued to work on Omega proper. LaTeX for Omega is invoked as lambda. == Aleph and... ==

5:25 PM
@JosephWright I am following the discussion. :)

@PauloCereda Sure: I'll mail you

@JosephWright not quite sure if all problems are resolved, I got also a private mail. But it seems to move in the right direction ...

@UlrikeFischer Yes: I mean that it's clear that LuaHBTeX will be able to do Tibetan/Bangla/...

@JosephWright yes, this is imho now undisputed. I think we should/can in some weeks upload a luaotfload which has the harf code included and then people can test easier.

@UlrikeFischer Yes, definitely
@UlrikeFischer Expect a mail too!

5:46 PM
@egreg tex.stackexchange.com/questions/512434/… do you have a (non exhaustive) list?

1 hour later…
6:50 PM
I found out what happened to @marmot

@DavidCarlisle ooh
Auntie knows a lot of stuff
@JosephWright ^^

7:14 PM
@DavidCarlisle Don't worry, he is simply hidden in a sealed box

1 hour later…
8:24 PM
@Skillmon I looked at the font tables before and after, but I had no time to try all of the changed ones. Maybe tomorrow.
