@marmot -- i believe that if one burrows deeply enough under the sand, the ambient temperature is a bit cooler. but there's the problem that dry sand doesn't facilitate stable tunnels.

@marmot -- sadly, i agree with you. and (as usual), i'm certainly going to vote in every election for which i'm able, and encourage others to do so as well. (for every election for the past ten years, i have worked at a polling site, and been in charge of the assigned site since the 2012 elections. it's important. and i've been really proud of the parents who have brought in their young children to teach them the process.)

@marmot -- nearby, in the less paved areas. we live right in the city, although a section with trees shading the street (and a library on the corner). we do have urban wildlife, but the only four-footed wild critters we've seen in the immediate neighborhood are squirrels, cottontail rabbits, raccoons, skunks, mice, and possums. nobody that burrows though, at least not that i know of.

Hi guys this is going to sound weird

But I'm not even sure how I would phrase my question to find the right stackexchange question that solves the problem

I'm working on a bibliography and ... something is going on because all of the sudden the command \bibitem seems to trigger something related to \item rather than \bibitem

How do I even call this? haha I feel dumb right now

@1010011010 Do you mean that the references are numbered? That's a normal way of doing it, it's because whatever style you're using is numerical rather than e.g. author-year.

@TorbjørnT. I mean that the third reference is really 5 references together, I typed \bibitem 5 times and it typesets only [3], consecutive references are erroneously separated by a "dot", I have not used any exotic or custom commands

Defenestration

Defenestration is the act of throwing someone or something out of a window. The term was coined around the time of an incident in Prague Castle in the year 1618, which became the spark that started the Thirty Years' War. This was done in "good Bohemian style" and referred to the defenestration which had occurred in Prague's City Hall almost 200 years earlier (July 1419), which also at that occasion led to war, the Hussite war. The word comes from the New Latin de- (out of or away from) and fenestra (window or opening). Likewise, it can also refer to the condition of being thrown out of a window...
