@egreg a mere permutation of my score! Good night!

1 hour later…
1:44 AM
@yo' -- and why are you awake at this hour, when you know you have to be awake early?

5 hours later…
yo'
6:27 AM
@barbarabeeton i had some very busy 2 weeks and this is a consequence :( fortunately (hopefully) it's settling down to normal again...

2 hours later…
8:31 AM
\documentclass{tudelft-report}
\begin{document}
\author{Wombat, Capybara}
\makecover
\end{document}
@DavidCarlisle ^^^^^ Related question with a link to the template Just by looking at the MWE above, what might be happening?

1 hour later…
9:37 AM
@DavidCarlisle ooh :)

10:27 AM
@DavidCarlisle: Get M a Nintendo Switch.

11:00 AM
@PauloCereda no
@Johannes_B yes:-)

@DavidCarlisle ?

@Johannes_B \author{{Wombat, Capybara}}
\renewcommand*\author[2][tudelft-white]{%
    \def\@authorcolor{#1}%
    \def\@author{#2}%
    \hypersetup{pdfauthor=#2}%
}

@DavidCarlisle Not really what a normal user might expect.

@Johannes_B so ^^^^ if #2 has a comma the comma is treated as a comma in the hyperref keyval setting
@Johannes_B no, but then normally (eg in report) you do not separate authors by comma, you have to use \and (but that gave errors too) I suppose it's possible the class documentation says how to mark up multiple authors. some classes require one \author for each author.

@DavidCarlisle Let's hope the class has a documentation somewhere.

yo'
11:23 AM
@DavidCarlisle @Johannes_B goodness!

@yo' it's a class for internal reports at TU Delft, it may be that multiple authors are not a possibility for that class of document.

yo'
@DavidCarlisle Well, right. Doesn't change the fact that you shall use braces in \hypersetup arguments :-(
anyway, lunchtime, see you later!

@DavidCarlisle Voted as dupe as well on the CV table question.

@Johannes_B possibly not the best one, but it will do, especially as the OP says problem is solved

12:06 PM
Anybody seeing a (good) answer to that question?

Q: Looking for a plain-looking XeLaTeX thesis template, for transfer from ClassicThesis template

Nguyễn Thị Minh ChâuI learnt LaTeX for my M.A. dissertation, using the ClassicThesis template. It is beautiful and works fine. But my University (in Vietnam) has requirements on format that are not compatible with ClassicThesis. So I am looking for a template that complies with the University's requirements A4...

@Johannes_B \documentclass{report}\begin{document}\end{document}

@DavidCarlisle Basically what the OP ended up doing, except with memoir. (See comments.)

yo'
@JosephWright @DavidCarlisle Please, do British people really use single quotation marks as primary? (Wikipedia suggests so)

@yo' yes either order. perhaps double first is more common, if both forms are appearing a lot, but if there is mostly only one level then you could use ' or " at will.
@yo' basically in normal text I wouldn't infer any meaning from single or double quote being used.

12:24 PM
@DavidCarlisle Agreed. Even the wikibook agrees on that: en.wikibooks.org/wiki/LaTeX/…

@Johannes_B I wonder who wrote that.....

yo'
@DavidCarlisle ok, thanks. One more difference to American (where double are primary)

@DavidCarlisle :-p

@yo' what do they know about ‘English’

yo'
@DavidCarlisle as much as @barbarabeeton

12:27 PM
@yo' snitch

yo'
@DavidCarlisle now I wonder what do you mean...

@DavidCarlisle I just found this

12:43 PM
@Johannes_B ? it's a document class, but what about it?
@Johannes_B oh \ProvidesClass{article} oops

@DavidCarlisle :-)

Q: Tabular inside table, not in outer par mode

bayindirhI'm editing a TeX file for my paper to send to another journal, but a combination that worked in other document class is causing headaches in this one. The code looks like % First the packages \documentclass{imanum} \graphicspath{{./image/}} \usepackage{epsfig} \usepackage{rotating} \usepacka...

@Johannes_B well kwarc are just archiving whatever arxiv are giving them.

1:15 PM
Anybody familiar with sphinx-doc? We have a question on site: tex.stackexchange.com/questions/341897/…
I don't know how that stuff work, but the simple solution would be to not use a titlepage.

@Johannes_B I've seen it a couple of times, it generates tex from some markdown like input

1:42 PM
Is this possible :
\begin{minted}{octave}
\input{./scripts/a.m}
\end{minted}
currently it will just display the input line , but I was wondering if I could use input like that rather than copying the code into the tex file?

@baxx minted has an include command inputminted or includeminted I forget

ah ok thanks
yes that works, thanks

2:41 PM
Why why my question ( tex.stackexchange.com/q/356926/96227 ) marked as a duplicate? The apparent duplicate (which I incidentally linked to) does not answer the question I asked.

@barbarabeeton Are you in the mood of adding an answer? tex.stackexchange.com/questions/239817/…
@Argon No, it does not. But it says, that titlesec is incompatible with memoir. The simple answer is: You cannot.

@Argon Your question is quite unclear. What don't you understand in "memoir and titlesec are incompatible"?

@Argon Why using titlesec? The memoir class has its own mechanism for adjusting the layout of chapter and section titles.

@UlrikeFischer No need to be rude. There is a reasonable curiosity, I think, regarding whether the utility of titlesec can exist whilst in the memoir document class.

@Argon Sorry, but the answer is no.

2:51 PM
@egreg Thanks

@Argon I didn't intend to be rude. I really don't know why you despite the answer you linked too (and the comments there including one from the memoir maintainer) are trying to use titlesec with memoir.

@Argon Written communication is sometimes hard to get. Somebody said i was on a rant earlier today.

@Johannes_B -- it's unanswerable (not enough information), and op hasn't been seen since may 2015. he's doing lots of things that aren't recommended with amsbook, but it's not productive to say so since the problem mentioned doesn't have a clear example. i'll vote for closing as unclear.

@barbarabeeton I followed your lead. Thank you for having a look at this.

@Johannes_B -- thanks for pointing it out. i probably would have missed it since i only really seek out unanswered questions that have an ams* tag.

3:36 PM
@DavidCarlisle Thanks. Upvoted the global option answer.

@Johannes_B not sure it's worth a vote, but I suppose one is enough to get it off the unanswered list:-)

@DavidCarlisle Exactly. Let's see how many you get at the end of the day for that answer.

3:58 PM
@DavidCarlisle Do you also want to have a look at this? :-)

@Johannes_B got biblatex in the title, ping Joseph instead

Oh, the first time I noticed a palindrome myself. Made 7997 posts at latex.org.

4:15 PM
@DavidCarlisle @JosephWright Maybe you?
@Johannes_B A month or two, I guess. We'd appreciate a review of the code by any of the specialist from SE. Some things in the code are pretty ugly, we know, and most other are far from perfect. That shouldn't prevent us from improving. Thanks for any help! — PhilipPirrip 3 mins ago
Classicthesis team is asking for a cde review before the next release. Anybody interested?
Before anybody asks, no sarcasm this time. If the code gets better, that means customers (the users) are more satisfied.

@Johannes_B Well, in classicthesis-config.tex there is \usepackage{hyperref} and a few lines below \usepackage{classicthesis}, which in turn loads many other packages. They should start cleaning this up.

@egreg I am not responsible for that template. You should tell Philip :-)

@Johannes_B I don't know without looking at the biblatex code if it is supposed to work at all, certainly the default option handling code will do nothing with foo=bar options in \documentclass

4:36 PM
@Johannes_B As one of the comment says: biblatex ignores global options. Unlike other packages it doesn't have a bunch of options declared, but processes all its options in the \DeclareOption* as "unknown" options.

@UlrikeFischer @DavidCarlisle I am not a fan of loading biblatex in a class. I would be happy anybody adding an answer of the kind: Don't do it. We can of course let it rest a little bit longer. No harm done.

@Johannes_B the handling of the document class options by a package is rather unrelated to that package being loaded in the class or in the document.
@Johannes_B although the class could do as @UlrikeFischer just suggested and make the default option handler be to pass the option to biblatex

@DavidCarlisle @Johannes_B I didn't suggested anything ;-). And you can't pass the complete \@classoptionslist to biblatex, you would get errors for unknown options. The class would have to setup an option biblatex={style=authoryear,backend=biber} Or the users would have to use \PassOptionsToPackage before \documentclass.

@UlrikeFischer well that depends on the class. As posted the class has no options other than ones to be passed to biblatex. If you also want to allow 10pt and friends you have to work harder, I agree. Anyway @Johannes_B can post an answer:-)

2 hours later…
7:13 PM
@ChristianHupfer Thanks for the answer. I am testing it right now (seems that I have to update my system -- I get an error)

@Dr.ManuelKuehner Concerning what? xassoccnt 1.2 is available since this morning on TL....

@ChristianHupfer I use MiKTeX and I am trying to update.

@Dr.ManuelKuehner: If you have problems with \DeclareTotalAssociatedCounters you can split the statement into \NewTotalDocumentCounter{totalframenumbers}\DeclareAssociatedCounters{framenumb‌ers}{totalframenumbers}

@Dr.ManuelKuehner Updating your system? I need to update my system as well :-)

@Johannes_B You need to update your system for two years already :-P

7:18 PM
@ChristianHupfer On MiKTeX I only have the version from 2016-11-05. maybe I need to wait a couple of days in order to be able to test it.

@Dr.ManuelKuehner 2016-11-05??? I don't released a version on that day. That should be version 1.1

@ChristianHupfer Ahhhhh - it's your package.

@Dr.ManuelKuehner: Well, i will change the code on the post a little bit...

@ChristianHupfer See screenshot

@Dr.ManuelKuehner Yes, that should be the newest one. I uploaded it two days ago (Well I uploaded 1.3 an hour ago ;-)
@Dr.ManuelKuehner: I've changed the code to make it work with version 1.1, the older version

7:24 PM
@ChristianHupfer Important is "Packaged on" (2016...) -- the other date is just when I installed it on my machine. The package is very interesting! Still -- it would be cool if I could get a solution without an additional package. I'll have a look with the new code....give me e minute

@Dr.ManuelKuehner: No wait... Packaged 2016/11/05 ... that's version 1.1 (although the date is wrong)
@Dr.ManuelKuehner You shouldn't use xparse then as well... if you don't want additional packages ;-)

@ChristianHupfer Right. The update destroyed the MiKTeX installation....I cannot compile atm. Damn. I restart now and if it still fails then I call it a day and try again tomorrow.

@Dr.ManuelKuehner Oh my ... MikTeX is strange, in my point of view

@ChristianHupfer And I am just concerned because in the documentation there are some incompatibilities mentioned.
@ChristianHupfer Yes -- I am always "afraid" of updating.

@Dr.ManuelKuehner Yes... don't use it with perpage package. And load calc before, if needed

7:29 PM
@ChristianHupfer Ok. I give up. Tomorrow again. Thanks again for the quick help.

@Dr.ManuelKuehner That's why I am using TL even on Windows, in the rare cases I am using Windows at all.

@Dr.ManuelKuehner @ChristianHupfer Miktex hasn't had updates for two weeks, you will have to wait.

@UlrikeFischer Thanks.

@UlrikeFischer Well, I don't use MikTeX ...

3 hours later…

10:48 PM
@barbarabeeton today's organ playing was perfect! And.I finally managed to go to sleep early. Good night!

11:17 PM
@yo' Good night!

11:29 PM
Y'all are so much more chill than the rest of stackoverflow

@Artillect We try hard to be friendly.

I've actually been able to gain reputation on this site and answer questions without being told 20 different reasons why it's off topic and should be removed

11:51 PM
@Artillect We have very few OT questions, actually. I believe that the most frequent reason for closing is “Unclear”, but in general we are willing to wait a few days (even weeks, actually) for the OP to improve unclear questions.

@egreg except to me!
