@ChristianHupfer I often fail to see the point in questions of the OP. I think there was one i did understand after just one comment asking for information.

@ChristianHupfer Not done yet, waiting for input of barbara. Not satisfied with it. It is a statement, summing up some key points. But it lacks the What can we do to improve the situation part, which is kind of the base idea of the whole thing.

@JosephWright ah yes. also there is my pull request to luaotfload not to load luatexbase, do you think we should just edit directly or ping them on the pull request, I'm a bit wary of over-using that write access on code I don't fully understand... github.com/lualatex/luaotfload/pulls
@JosephWright was just looking at that pull request of mine, it was trying to be ultra conservative and use luatexbase in plain, but now that's just a wrapper around ltluatex it would probably make sense to never load luatexbase and just use ltluatex from luaotfload
@PauloCereda I like them! They're like time machines! Yesterday, I had gone for the 18:59 train and caught the 18:29 one which was running with a 26 minute delay, so I arrived four minutes before schedule. ;-)
@evinda it's not really polite to ping people like that, but fix the syntax errors, the output if you have an error is arbitrary, tex does not try to make sensible pdf after an error.

@Johannes_B That is only relative though. Meat eating people will say that eating meat is more energetic than vegetables. (I have such people in my neighbourhood here) :-) . Nevertheless, just think of steroids contained in the meat. :)

@HarishKumar I was n ot brought up this way, but it is not at all difficult to be vegetarian. Vegan is more of a challenge. (It is OK at home but now I live with my parents, who eat meat, and it is harder. And eating out is more difficult - I miss dessert.)

@Joseph you can use \extrafloats{1000} and have a thousand if you want (that's been available sine the 2015/01/01 release) although as @Johannes_B says you shouldn't be using floats most likely:-)

(to continue what was interrupted by a typo) actually, i've seen \Sigma used in journal articles published by ams, and, as long as it's clearly defined, nobody on the editorial staff here is going to complain. if there's any confusion between \sum and \Sigma, there would be author queries. but even \sum \Sigma passes muster. the shapes are distinctive.
@barbarabeeton Sure, on a pure theoretical basis these are all correct. However, using \Sigma and \Xi and with subscripts is just shows the authors' Russianness :P
@percusse -- you need access to mathscinet to be able to see it, but if you have that, just look up by the two authors; it's the only joint paper found by the search.
@percusse -- somehow "ralph byers" and "stephen g. nash" don't sound russian to me. but that could be common notation in their field. (with which i'm also not familiar.)
