@yo' I don't agree with the answers. Naturally it can get costly, and also learning to something yourself is a good thing, but I'm often hiring people to do things for me - to clean windows, to build a shelf, to repair my computer or my car. One simply has to decide if the quality and time gain is worth the money. Do-it-yourself is not always the best strategie to get something done.
@yo' Well if you think my remark is reasonable you can quote it. I don't have the time this week for an extended discussion - I have to prepare a lot of material for a latex course.

Use system fonts (Mac OS) while using book template
I understand that it is a question about changing the font, but the asker was using the correct code to change font. My answer explains why it doesn’t work in this case, a problem which people may well have using fontspec on OS X.
Anyone know of a tikz example somewhere, showing how one can define an object in tikz/pgf, kind of like a node, such that given its name, say B, then I get access to several key points on the object B. In the drawing I need the same box four times, and I dislike copying code, and might as well learn to programme tikz better. suggestions?
@yo' come to think of it, isn't this just what the shapes library does? Thus look in the source.
Hmm, got to get my Emacs setup to work on this Win10 PC. Driving me nuts that I do not have my normal tools. Then again learn a little more about TeXStudio usage.
@UlrikeFischer Interesting. Did not know that one. I think mine is a little more complicated (rectangles with stuff in it), so the shapes seems a better candidate.
@PauloCereda lets just say my laptop went Australian for a while until I realised what happend.
@daleif shapes will give a lot of key points by default, so they are good if the shape you need exists ... (but you can use nodes inside a pic and imho also access its points.)
@UlrikeFischer it just gets messy getting inner nodes positioned right. Especially when I can to be able to just place the object at any point I like. My internal tikz/pgf skills are not that good.
That probably sounds a bit vague, re-reading. I have a longtable in a 196 page document. It looks well formatted to my (fairly untrained) eye. When I comment it out, doc compiles fine. With it in, compile hangs. Using pdflatex within Texstudio
It's a long time since I used LaTeX (15 years) so I've forgotten which bits of the environment setup might be relevant
I guess my first question is - is longtable noted for causing any such problems? If it's too involved - I'll post a proper question on the main site
Thanks @JosephWright I kind of assumed it would be (I'm using it all over the document elsewhere). I must be missing something I guess heads back to re-examine doc
@JRichardSnape longtable is famous for being bug free:-)

@JRichardSnape it's not actually likely to loop in the longtable code (it's not a very looping algorithm, it just outputs pages and never goes "back") but something within the table may be misbehaving of course. Going offline for a bit, back later.
Oops - I could stick my foot in my mouth frequently in this unfamiliar environment. Apologies - no offence meant to anyone - I should have recognised the name.
@JosephWright I may send you one for help in a bit. The line (un)wrapping is still off for the lua specific normalisation (one file the wrapped lines are joined, and in the other not) I tried to fix it but got it wrong somewhere;-) but I'm a bit pessimistic, I have an aggressive normalisation now that removes all font names, removes all plus and minus components but still fails 91 tests so only 6 better than with just the rounding of fil components to 3dp and only 10 better than the svn version:(
