Hi, I just updated to MacTeX 2015 and here is what my tex live utility says: he repository at mirror.switch.ch/mirror/tex/systems/texlive/tlnet has TeX Live 2015, but you have TeX Live 18446744073709551615 installed. You need to switch repositories in order to continue. Any hint?

@1010011010 yes we switched the underlying formatting engine from tex to ms word. Hopefully though the compatibility layer will mean that no one will notice any real changes.

In a utf8 text I have α sitting directly in the text, it comes out as an alpha. But how is that defined? I'm assuming it is typeset as a letter not math (it is not input as math). I need to make this alpha in some sans-serif font, so I need to know which slot to redefine it with.

Given a fairly simple PDF file (Emacs says it is 155 lines), vector graphics, how can I change the colors in the file (it only uses a few). Was trying to get Acrobat v9.5 to do it on Windows (VM), but that does not match any of the guides I've found online.

@daleif depends how colors are set, assuming it's not compressed you may see colour operators such as C or K preceded by their arguments that you can edit, keeping the total byte counts the same. Otherwise, it gets harder:-)

@cfr I'm not sure I agree with you on 'not having to check capitalisation' (logos are a different thing). For example, there's quite a prominent chemist with surname "RajanBabu" which does require a capital in the middle of the name. If I refer to his work I need to get that right.

Q: Install LaTeX on Mac OS X El Capitan (10.11)

LaXHow do I install MacTex or another LaTeX distribution? Even after installation, LaTeX commands like latex, pdftex or lualatex are not found, and /usr/texbin/ doesn't exist. Even worse, commands like sudo mkdir -p /usr/texbin return "permission denied"

Primarily i am looking for those simplified looks (for presentations and lectures) that hide the fact that I used beamer, you know what I mean?
There so many beamer templates and they are all sooo similar and overly cluttered

I just tried fontspec option Letters=Uppercase with TeX Gyre Adventor, but the feature is not available. Does anybody know how big chances are for a feature request to be implemented?

Q: Install LaTeX on Mac OS X El Capitan (10.11)

LaXHow do I install MacTex or another LaTeX distribution? Even after installation, LaTeX commands like latex, pdftex or lualatex are not found, and /usr/texbin/ doesn't exist. Even worse, commands like sudo mkdir -p /usr/texbin return "permission denied"

@Canageek Have you heard of tripwire? You can set up the Linux kernel (appropriately patched) so that even root cannot alter some parts of the file system without a reboot into single-user mode. This means that only someone with physical access can make certain key changes.
