@DavidCarlisle For the listings and extra } answer, you'd deserve a lot IMHO, it's bad that it doesn't get quite uppvoted.

@yo' @David could just throw in some simple TikZ drawing in the answer. That way, the answer will receive more votes. If instead of TikZ, he uses picture, the votes will be the double.

Hi everyone.

@ChristianHupfer There we go. ^^ :)
@yo' He's naïve. :)

@PauloCereda :)
@PauloCereda that face looks familiar to me, but it doesn't quite click. Who's it?

@yo' Don in his yo'uth. :)

yo'
@PauloCereda ah cool

@PauloCereda So, what's it gonna be, Germany or Peru? :)

@GonzaloMedina Too much pressure. :) Will I get a sombrero? :)

yo'
@PauloCereda why would you want to drink Czech beer in a sombrero?

1:06 AM
@PauloCereda If it were here, you'd get a sombrero, a poncho and a carriel: bimg2.mlstatic.com/…

@GonzaloMedina ooh! :)
@yo' A Brazilian duck wearing a Colombian sombrero drinking Czech beer in Germany. :)

@PauloCereda: ????

yo'
@PauloCereda with Englishmen :)
@PauloCereda btw, I may be getting closer to the decision about a new keyboard...

@ChristianHupfer The poster. :)
@yo' Roland? :)

yo'
@PauloCereda Jupiter-50. Maybe. I've haven't tried the keybed yet.
of course, if I had the money, I would be modern and get a physis, but they're way too expensive :(

1:11 AM
@PauloCereda: Ah.... I thought it's your request for your epitaph ;-)

@yo' Cool! :)

yo'
@PauloCereda but the decision will certainly come soon after I get bback home. I just need to measure the trunk opening of my car.

@yo' Ah, until I looked up for an image I thought you were talking about a keyboard for your computer :)

yo'
@GonzaloMedina :)

Have a nice time... it's late here (and even later in Prague (if you're there, @yo' ;-) )

I have to confess, I like the look of NORD ones more, or of KROME or MOXF, but the Jupiter looks sexy, too, very 80s
@ChristianHupfer if I were in Prague ...
@GonzaloMedina computer keyboard for $1800, that would be something.

@yo' when you mentioned your car trunk, I started to suspect it was other kind of keyboard.

yo'
@GonzaloMedina yeah. Well, the point is: I have a digital piano. But it weighs 22 kilos (plus all accessories), and it's 138cm long, so the only way how it fits in my car is lying on the front seat.

@yo' And you in the trunk?

yo'
@GonzaloMedina no, me next to it. By lying I mean lying longitudally :)

yo'
1:33 AM
ok, gotta go. See you tomorrow!

10:15 AM
@JosephWright keeps the circle spinning:-)

@DavidCarlisle Indeed
@DavidCarlisle Based on your last message I think we do want 'full' Unicode support :-)

@JosephWright you say change in L3 in your last message but the code you put in 2e this time round sets catcode 11 doesn't it?

@DavidCarlisle Yes that is true but that's a 'no-op' in reality (as XeTeX/LuaTeX already have those settings)

@JosephWright yes but not everyone agrees that there is prior art here:-)
@JosephWright i saw that;-)

@DavidCarlisle Want to check I have the right!

10:21 AM
@JosephWright needs to be 11 or 12 for hyphenation

@DavidCarlisle Would we really want to claim that for example é is not a letter?

@JosephWright No I think that we have to claim that é is a letter for the system, but that as a personal choice you might want to think hard before using non ascii identifiers, for compatibility with pdftex or english people or something. We shouldn't try to enforce that in the system (if we tried someone would just make an international-latex that hacked \dump to reset the catcodes)

10:42 AM
@DavidCarlisle É imperativo que tais letras acentuadas sejam tratadas como tais, com a devida atenção que estas merecem.

@PauloCereda You know I treat all languages with the respect they deserve

@David: @Joseph is the one trying to kill my accented letters. :)

@tohecz drop all the accents, no one ever notices the pesky things do they?

@DavidCarlisle oy

@PauloCereda óÅ·

10:49 AM
@DavidCarlisle yo! :)

@PauloCereda so more seriously in Brazil where English isn't so well known, would you find people using non ascii identifiers in programming languages that support it (javascript, perl6, python3 etc...)

@DavidCarlisle Thankfully, I've never seen non-ASCII identifiers around. :)
On the other hand, only a few people I know understand Unicode. :(

@PauloCereda well the context of the above comments was thoughts about what the catcode of say ç and ã should be. Currently xe/lua latex makes them catcode 11 so you can go \def\atenção{...} if you like, then it's just a social or policy choice whether doing that is a good idea. But you could make them catcode 12 then that would define \aten with a weird null argument delimiter, just as it does in pdftex. personally I think catcode 11 even if that feature isn't often used.

11:09 AM
@DavidCarlisle Ah I see. :) I was doctrinated to avoid accented letters, so \atenção automatically looks weird to me although I agree it's to some extent semantically closer to one's intention than \atencao.

@DavidCarlisle Agreed
@DavidCarlisle I'd also suspect the TL team would say something like 'we can't alter this in XeLaTeX/LuaLaTeX now as people have written docs assuming catcode-11'

Q: What does Judaism think of math?

CnsersmoitIs it permissible according to halacha to do math? If so, are all kinds of math OK? This question is Purim Torah and is not intended to be taken completely seriously. See the Purim Torah policy.

11:21 AM
@yo' wat
LOL

yo'
@PauloCereda it's a nice Jewish humour :)
anyways, gotta go, see you later

@DavidCarlisle I can see both sides to this, but it seems pretty odd from a user POV to say 'this thing that is clearly a letter is regarded as a non-letter by XeLaTeX/LuaLaTeX for compatibility with pdfTeX': one of the points of the newer engines is that they are native Unicode!

11:39 AM
@JosephWright yes, I think it's same as the other programming languages, in practice you almost never see non ascii identifiers in public libraries, but if there isn't a technical reason to prevent it it shouldn't be prevented, and in private or local projects people can make their own choices.

@DavidCarlisle Cool: we agree :-)

@PauloCereda LOL, one of my co-workers has that installed

@PaulGessler LOL

@PauloCereda did you get your biscuits yet? :-)

@PaulGessler @topskip provided me some, and I got a few in here. :)

@PauloCereda ah, but those are virtual biscuits, not IRL biscuits. :-D

@PaulGessler I got some real ones, but they are misteriously gone by now. :)

Spent most of last night fighting LibreOffice. Really must learn TeX.

2:27 PM
@michal.h21 do you know which file/script generate these messages please:

processing page 2
page size: 9.23031pt x 10.2256pt (3.24408mm x 3.5939mm)

processing page 3
page size: 8.74222pt x 6.37608pt (3.07254mm x 2.24094mm)
page written to html_and_latex-03.svg

Is it one of your LUA files? I looked but could not find it. The reason, I wanted to make print the full path name of the latex file it is processing.
I invoke the build using make4ht ofcourse. I have a need to find which file it is processing all the time, since I have large tree, and when I look at the monitor, I have no idea where it is at the time.

A: Do we really need to capitalize usernames?

Robert CartainoThis is being fixed now. Stand by. We are in the middle of converting some of the older sites to a new CSS framework, so they may take a little longer.

@TRiG Good plan
@yo' Fixed

3:15 PM
@yo' I hadn't. Thanks. That is good news.
@JosephWright Recommended Linux-based "(La)TeX for the absolute beginner" tutorial?

yo'
@TRiG :) So how's your LaTeX?
@TRiG I personally recommend the Dickimow series: dickimaw-books.com/latex/index.html

@TRiG There are various good texts: I like Nicola Talbot's book and also Marc van Dongen's for 'up to date' info, but Kopa and Daly remains a strong starting point

@JosephWright What I'd sort-of like is a LaTeX course in Codecademy, but I suppose that's not too likely to happen.

@TRiG Using LaTeX for documents does involve the code/output idea but it's rather specialised: most of a 'real' document will be text/'content' rather then commands

Q: What are good learning resources for a LaTeX beginner?

ViviWhich book (free or otherwise) was the most useful to you when you started learning LaTeX? I am frequently asked this question by friends who want to learn LaTeX, and I recommend the book which got me started, The Not So Short Introduction to LaTeX2ε, but I feel that there might be better option...

@JosephWright Thanks.

3:23 PM
@TRiG I've no idea how their backend works, but running a LaTeX server is somewhat specialised. Perhaps [Overleaf ](overleaf.com) have something in the right vein (certainly you can try stuff out their without installing)

Must run. Server is behaving oddly and our clients' websites are crashing.

@TRiG There will be a day within the next 2 weeks, when you can get the "LaTeX Beginner's Guide" ebook for free, in agreement with the Publisher. LaTeX-Community.org announcement

Hmm, just popped over to see what ShareLaTeX have as guides and stumbled across sharelatex.com/templates/bibliographies/…: this looks familiar!
@StefanKottwitz How's the other book coming along?

@JosephWright Chapter 8 done, I'd like to send you a biblatex part to hear your thoughts on it

@StefanKottwitz OK, cool
@StefanKottwitz I'm supposed to also be reading something for @NicolaTalbot: one for the train later today!

Ell
Evening all
Does anyone here know how LaTeX renders integral symbols?
and other mathematical symbols? To me it doesn't look like it needs a font to do so, because typing ∫ in CMU font doesn't look as good as the real LaTeX typeset thing

@Ell "how" do you mean what do they look like or what input is needed \int

Ell
@DavidCarlisle I mean "how" as in internally - sorry for the ambiguity

@Ell it always uses a font, several are available, by default from the computer modern font set, which was developed for TeX

Ell
Hmm. But if it uses a font to draw the ∫, why does mine look like this: i.imgur.com/sBqF4XV.png ?
That is the integral symbol from the CMU Serif font in gimp - it looks like this in Libreoffice too

6:21 PM
@Ell sorry I don't understand the question, the shape of any symbol in any font is an arbitrary choice of the font designer.

Ell
@DavidCarlisle Sorry, I'll try to rephrase the question

@Ell good math typesetting requires a font designed for mathematics, CMU is a general text font as far as I know

Ell
Oh of course!
I assumed it used CMU for all typesetting

@Ell I don't actually know the font CMU at all, I'll google for it....

Ell
Computer Modern (Unicode)

6:25 PM
@Ell oh yes of course, that isn't the default font used by tex (which can't use unicode fonts unless you are using xetex or luatex variants) tex uses many different fonts and in math each symbol is associated with (potentially) a different font.

@DavidCarlisle \usepackage[spanish]{babel} ought to work, if the class and the font definitions were complying with LaTeX programming rules. They aren't.

@egreg Yes but since the published class is just designed for publishing english manuscripts submitted to one publisher, making it suitably generic probably wasn't a requirement

Ell
Thanks guys!

@Ell by default \int comes from cmex10 (position x52)

Ell
My question has been asnwered :)

6:28 PM
@DavidCarlisle It's wrong anyway; why not producing a set of virtual fonts instead of relying on non standard encodings? They're looking for disgrace once somebody wants to insert some part in different languages.

Ell
@DavidCarlisle Position x52? I'm not sure what you mean :)

@Ell hex 52 (decimal 82)

Ell
Oh I see
0x52 ;)

@DavidCarlisle And I hope you'll agree that \font in LaTeX should never be used.

@egreg to be honest I averted my eyes and just looked for english words. It quite likely goes back to latex2.09 with a quick update for 2e.

Ell
6:31 PM
I'm off now but thanks guys

@Ell bye

@DavidCarlisle Current version 2011

@egreg actually I just read your answer. I'll delete
@egreg it's gone:-)

6:49 PM
@Ell -- there are a lot of things in unicode that also require "markup", in other words, just specifying a unicode character position isn't enough. and the sizing and selection of an appropriate integral is one of those things -- it's necessary to know the context and interpret it properly. this is somewhat covered in unicode technical report #25 (unicode.org/reports/tr25 , support for mathematics).

is it memory allocation issue? because the dvi file is very large?
I am starting the build again, just in this one folder, to see if I get this error again.
I googled and can't find hint. It looks like memory allocation from the std::bad_alloc above

8:01 PM
@Nasser these messages are from dvisvgm
@Nasser witch such giant files as are yours things may go wild a little bit :(

@percusse Watched the whole thing. One time i was nearly chocking to death because i was eating. It was great.

@michal.h21 ok, thanks,. I guess there is then no place to insert a print statements. I am running this build again, to see if I get these errors again.
@michal.h21 actually, since now I broke the build into smaller files, this file is not that huge, about 100,000 images in it only.

@Nasser I thought it was about 9000 images when I was talking about huge:o

@percusse, @PaulGessler would you say the behaviour in the intersection cs described here tex.stackexchange.com/q/229297/3954 to be a bug? It's so weird that the syntax allows spaces before -- but not after it (in my opinion, it should admit spaces on both sides or don't admit spaces on either side).

@michal.h21 sorry, I had one extra zero, it was 10,000 images or around there. So not really large idv file. But it is running now, will see if I get same error again., If so, it might be due to doing it all once vs. one at a time? do not know now.

8:14 PM
@Nasser I may try to run it on my machine

@michal.h21 we really need an internal design document for tex4ht. The data flow that is. I had no idea for example that tex4ht, takes the images from dvi file, put each math equation image in one page and make idv file, then process that. May be there is a way to optimize all this process from the start if one knows how tex4ht works internally a little more
Since more the time spend is in this phase, image generation for equations. This what makes tex4ht so slow
@michal.h21 if you need a latex file with lots of equations in it, just let me know :)

@Nasser your huge idv file should suffice, to test if I get the error messages as well

@michal.h21 ok, will put one for you, please give me few minutes

This can be reopened now I'd say. tex.stackexchange.com/questions/227826/…

@Nasser most time is spent on external dvi to image conversion, I don!t think we may speed it up in other way than process whole idv file at once

8:21 PM
@DavidCarlisle does the number 155 mean anything special to you? :-)

Q: Program to edit text in predefined template

EvaI am looking for a program that will let a user edit text and then compile the document without any knowledge of LaTeX. Not like a WYSIWYG editor, because no changes to the layout should be made. Only edit text, then compile. Does such a program exist? Any help is much appreciated!

What is that? Too broad? Unclear? Answerable (i cannot answer it)?

@michal.h21 i've put 2 IDV files here 12000.org/tmp/make4ht one is large 80 MB, which was before I broke the build to smaller files, but kept it for reference, and the second is only 12 MB, which is typical of what now I use. Thanks again for speeding up the dvi process. Now it is much faster. WHat used to take 4 hrs, now takes less than one hr

@Johannes_B It has the "T" word, so you should be mad ;)

@GonzaloMedina The T-Word? You should watch that as well ;-)
Feb 16 at 20:56, by percusse
@GonzaloMedina Trying to tidy up a bit.

@Johannes_B Now speaking seriously, the OP is asking for some .tex file "ready to use". All needed packages loaded, all configurations set, so he/she only has to replace the placeholder text with his/her actual text and compile and bam! His/her shinny document is ready! That should be called the "LaTeX freshman's dream".

8:37 PM
@GonzaloMedina But that is impossible :-?

@Johannes_B Of course, that's why I suggested the name "LaTeX freshman's dream" fro that kind of requests :-) I guess we could close it as "Too broad".

@GonzaloMedina You could do some kind of template-engine stuff @PauloCereda once wrote about in the blog. But with the amount of information, not sure.

@GonzaloMedina It seems to be approximately 242443 - 242288
@GonzaloMedina I've noticed that since I got close to you you've been averaging 300 a day:-)

@Nasser the smaller file took 2:30 mins to compile, but dvisvgm ate almost all laptop's memory, it was unresponsive for another few minutes

@DavidCarlisle The only thing I can think of is "All resistance is futile" ;)

8:41 PM
@GonzaloMedina then on to @egreg

@michal.h21 the latex compile part is always fast, it is the dvi image processing which is slow. my VBox/Linux has 2 GB RAM for it, my PC has 16 GB RAM.

@GonzaloMedina VtC as too broad.

@michal.h21 I think dvisvgm itself might need optimization. Or I need to buy supercomputer

@Johannes_B Voted to close as well.

@Nasser or organise your input in a more sensible way:-)

8:43 PM
@DavidCarlisle I already did! I broke my one large latex file to 20 smaller ones.

@Nasser no that was dvi processing time :)

@Nasser so now you have 20 over large files instead of one?

@DavidCarlisle yes. This way, when I add new set of equations, I do not have to recompile everything again as before.

@Nasser yes but still since you are generating your documents anyway there is no need to remake any of the svg maths equations unless they have changed.
@FionaSmith here for the cricket news? All bad I fear.

What should one respond to something like that?

8:57 PM
@DavidCarlisle I'd rather not talk about it (unless we restrict ourselves to the women's team). Presumably @PauloCereda is trying to avoid us.
Actually I was just going to have a moan about the fact that TeXworks keeps crashing on me (twice in 2 hours) and I keep losing stuff. But I guess nobody round here much uses Windoze, right?
Wondering if there's something I am inadvertently doing wrong... I've only got 4 files open, doesn't seem that many. Am having to revert to TeXnicCenter, which is much less pleasant in terms of building.

@FionaSmith Sorry I was playing Minecraft. :)
@DavidCarlisle: I managed to build an automatic crop harvesting thingy. :)

@PauloCereda at least you aren't working... or trying to work when your editor keeps crashing...

@Johannes_B The only possible answer is "no, there is no such package".

@GonzaloMedina Is that an answer we can give around here? A simple no, no package nor pdf supports this?

9:12 PM
@Johannes_B Don't know if that can be considered a valid answer, but is the only possibility I see for an answer.

@GonzaloMedina Lets get the big gun and ping @JosephWright. Huhu :-)

@Johannes_B: Triggered a lot of VtC ? ;-)

@FionaSmith I use windows, but I use a real editor that doesn't crash
@PauloCereda a mod thing or some complicated redstone machine?

@DavidCarlisle: I wish I could star your comment for the editor but the remark of windows repels me ;-)

@DavidCarlisle presumably you're one of those emacs folk, right? I hate emacs even more than I hate Apple.
By the way, TeXnicCenter doesn't crash

9:18 PM
@FionaSmith I have used emacs sometimes

@DavidCarlisle what is your editor of choice, and how do you run latex?

Sep 4 '13 at 20:59, by David Carlisle
@ForkrulAssail I've used emacs more or less every day since 1987, it makes making objective editor comparisons difficult:-)

@DavidCarlisle Nah it's a simple piston. Would you like the YouTube video? :)

@DavidCarlisle how do you run latex? I have plenty of editors, but I wouldn't have a clue how to implement "pdflatex" without one of these bits of software

@FionaSmith these days (as i only use latex for questions here) I just type pdflatex into an xterm, i used to use auctex (emacs front end to latex when I was doing more of my own documents)

@PauloCereda ah M built something similar but more gruesome it flooded cows into a lava pit:-)

@DavidCarlisle LOL M is awesome. :)

@DavidCarlisle <sigh.> I need to get me a linux machine... What I don't get about emacs is why it insists on having keyboard shortcuts that bear no resemblance to any other piece of software known to man...

@FionaSmith because the other software is wrong
@FionaSmith but on windows I have a native windows emacs and also emacs in cygwin (i use cygwin texlive)

@DavidCarlisle now it's all too much... I'm just not techy enough to have explored all these things. ;-)

9:29 PM
Why does the pgfplots manual pdf has form fields? ;-)

@FionaSmith cygwin is a passable linux emulation over windows so you have windows but with all the usual linux things like bash as a command line and perl and sed and make and X windows (I find it hard to use windows without installing a real window system:-)

@ChristianHupfer Trying to keep the place clean. There are so many leave untouched though.

@Johannes_B: I know what you mean... I started some VtC too, yesterday... (3 or 4 of them)

@DavidCarlisle thanks for the explanation. I am contemplating removing Vista from our old laptop and installing some flavour of linux instead, so if that all goes well, I might just end up using windows for web browsing in front of the TV and extracting photos from my (windows) phone!

@michal.h21 it failed again, same place! So I do not think this is random. I'll put the idv file for you if you like to try it on your end.

@Johannes_B I couldn't think of anything else to say and the system said I had to type some more....

@Johannes_B: @DavidCarlisle has just run out of words ... think of his tremendously long posts he does usually ;-)

@michal.h21 I put the idv file that causes the crash here 12000.org/tmp/make4ht I will now start build again, but will not use your open-one-time method and go back to the old way open-each-time method (the slow way) and see if the error goes away. If it goes away, this means the open-one-time method does not work on large files? or bug in dvisvgm program
@michal.h21 fyi, this idv file has 15,229 pages in it.
and it crashed on page 9190, so just after half way

@ChristianHupfer I let tex do the talking ^^

Does LaTeX3 have any text manipulation features? Similar to what xstring provides?

@DavidCarlisle ;-)

@DavidCarlisle Ah, ah! Catch me if you can. :-D
@DavidCarlisle @PauloCereda In the meantime, Juventus-Atalanta 2:1

@egreg Thanks for pointing me to the comment package yesterday in your solution to my post about extending the Exam class.

I'm confused why there are close votes on this question. Should it really be closed?

Q: Dotted line instead of \hline in table environment

venkatesan RamachandiranI am trying to get a dotted line in the table instead of \hline, but I can't get the output. arydshln and dashrule packages are available to get the dashed line, but I can't find any packages to get a dotted line in table. Is any package available for this style?

@AdamLiter I voted to keep it open...

Though, there is something to be said for an official workflow that is supported from the web. Perhaps one of the online compilers would be willing to help us out. — Sean Allred 19 secs ago
Has this been discussed before?
@Werner What kind of string manipulation features are you looking for?
As far as I recall, there are a lot of twiddly functions floating around in expl3, but I'd have to make myself more familiar to give a good answer to that.
(TeX is still installing on my work computer.)

@Werner Me too.

@SeanAllred I've been trying to perform repetitive search-and-replace using \StrSubstitute{<string>}{<stringA>}{<stringB>}[<output macro>]

@egreg Yay!

@Werner \tl_replace_all:Nnn?

@SeanAllred However, when I suddenly deal with a string/macro containing 2^10+ characters it starts laughing at me.
Well, I think it's laughing, but it just takes so long to perform all the replacements...

10:14 PM
@Werner There's the regex engine of course

@JosephWright This sounds promising...
Perhaps I should ask a question?

@Werner What are you aiming to do?

@Werner At that point I wonder if it's the best solution to the problem -- I'm really curious -- what's the goal? That's a lot of characters XD

There is so much copying of material on the net, without even giving references. Here are 2 pages I just saw about 3D rotation. Same exact material. Someone copied from the other, not sure who.

I had person once copy whole app from my page and posted it at matlab users page, and just changed the name and put their name on it. reported it to be taken down.

...I can create it in other programs, but a succinct definition in LaTeX would be better.
The text replacement/substitution algorithm is listed in the link:
From Joerg Arndt, Aug 28 2011: (Start)
Generation via string substitution:
Start: L
Rules:
  L --> L1R
  R --> L0R
  0 --> 0
  1 --> 1
-------------
0:   (#=1)
  L
1:   (#=3)
  L1R
2:   (#=7)
  L1R1L0R
3:   (#=15)
  L1R1L0R1L1R0L0R
4:   (#=31)
  L1R1L0R1L1R0L0R1L1R1L0R0L1R0L0R
5:   (#=63)
  L1R1L0R1L1R0L0R1L1R1L0R0L1R0L0R1L1R1L0R1L1R0L0R0L1R1L0R0L1R0L0R
Drop all L and R to obtain 1101100111001001110110001100100
(End)
While the sequence can be of any length, I'm working in lengths of order 2^n.

@Gregory With a username such as yours, I must answer! :)

@egreg Gotta stick together.

@SeanAllred We're almost relations!

@egreg :)

@egreg Henry Gregory. :)

BBC news describing todays match; "one of the worst days in the history of English one day cricket"... "abject humiliation".... .... I think we may not have won.

@DavidCarlisle Indeed
@DavidCarlisle At least interpreting 'we' as 'England (and Wales)': pretty good day for New Zealand

@JosephWright seems my typing isn't always accurate (Frank's checkins:(

@DavidCarlisle :-)

@JosephWright I did wonder at the time if we ought to have a test harness that runs the whole thing with \RequirePackage[2014/05/01]{latexrelease} as there are a lot of code branches not tested otherwise.
@JosephWright as it is the test suite is checking the new code returns the same tlg as the old release but it isn't checking the docstrip guards claiming to re-instate the old code do in fact generate the old tlg.

@DavidCarlisle Yes, seems reasonable

10:49 PM
@GonzaloMedina sorry no idea if it is a design choice or not. You're right: it certainly seems odd that they are allowed before and not after. I cannot think of a logical reason why that is so, but maybe someone else can. :-)

yo'
Goood evening :)

@yo' yo'! :-)

yo'
@PaulGessler hello :)

@yo' how are you today (sorry, on the bus, connection dropped for some minutes)

11:30 PM
anyone else see this?
There seems to be something strange in the default texlive 2014 I get ! Font T2A/cmr/m/n/12=larm1200 at 12.0pt not loadable: Metric (TFM) file not found with the document as posted but it works if you change [12pt] to 10pt which indicates an error in the map files somewhere (I think) — David Carlisle 1 min ago

@DavidCarlisle No problem for me. But I run a proper OS.
@DavidCarlisle larm TFM files are generated on demand.

yo'
@PaulGessler I'm doing well, and you?

11:51 PM
@yo' pretty good. Just got home, finished dinner, now ready for the weekend.

yo'
@PaulGessler What's the time in Wisconsin? (you are there, right?)

@yo' yes, just about 18:00 now

yo'
@PaulGessler ah ok. It's 1am here, Sat already :) I'll get a gn beer and go to bed :)
Misspelling your supervisor's name on a scientific paper is not a good idea.

@yo' enjoy it; my dad buys me an assortment of Czech beers every year for Christmas. Always fun to try all of them. :-) Take care!

yo'
@PaulGessler where does he get them?
and I'm not leaving the chat, I have my beer at the PC (well, there's not any other table in my appartment, so...)

11:56 PM
@yo' I have no idea, sorry. Sometimes it is a mix of Czech and less-common German ones. They are always quite good!

yo'
@PaulGessler I wonder because export beers are often not as good a the ones for local market.
