9:00 PM
@cgnieder Hold on. :) @percusse: sir, band time!

@cgnieder Just appearing with a guitar like the one in your avatar, behaving funny and pretending playing ;-) and you can go as me and let me look funny too

We could start an air band
www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0jxRwp3V5Q

@cgnieder: mind if I ask you for a quick suggestion? :)

@PauloCereda Don't go to the dark side, stay with vim

@PauloCereda go ahead :)

9:05 PM
@cgnieder registered association people can be so serious, a little flash mob could ease it :-D

@cgnieder This:
% arara: pdflatex if save('mynumber', 1); true
% arara: pdflatex while x = load('mynumber'); x++; save('mynumber', x); x < 10
How do you like it? :)

@StefanKottwitz :) so we all bring ukuleles – easier to transport

@cgnieder: I can't think of a good scenario for saving stuff in directives.

@Johannes_B: vim is the dark side :-P

@PauloCereda Sad to say, but i used % arara: lualatexmk for a test doc today.

9:07 PM
@PauloCereda for compiling 10 times?

@Johannes_B It failed, probably. :)
@cgnieder Bad example, but yes. :)

@cgnieder I could bring my daughter's xylophone and my son's maraca / rattle, both are handy. And I can play them much better than a guitar

@PauloCereda It worked. :-) Yeah.

@Johannes_B Damn, my master plan failed. :)

@cgnieder I bring my invisible drum kit.

9:08 PM
@cgnieder: tell my why would I save something, please. :)

@ChristianHupfer I feel quite comfortable on the dark side

Gentlemen, there is no dark side of the moon really. Matter of fact, it's all dark.
bwawawawawawa

^^ evil laugh.

Hey! I just need three more green ticks (plus tomorrow's rep cap)! :D

9:09 PM
@egreg ooh! :)

@Johannes_B: Me too, but xemacs is even more on the dark side. The force is strong in you ;-)

@PauloCereda The syntax seems a bit complicated for the example... I can't think of an example where I would need the saving...

Oh, somebody needs to prepare a cake.

@cgnieder Neither can I. In fact we can save anything, but I can't see the use.

@PauloCereda: We talk of another dark side :D ('Heavy breath') ....

9:10 PM
@PauloCereda Let me try stealing a couple.

@egreg Don't do that, David might get angry. :)

@PauloCereda What's your most recent tick?

@PauloCereda maybe we should ask the new arara fan on TeXwelt, @cis

@egreg Stealing David's tick seems like a good idea. :)
@cgnieder Ah he sent me a rule. :)
But I would like to credit people more explicitly: rules will be shipped with authors info. :)

@PauloCereda Sorry, might have been my fault.

9:12 PM
And also appear in the log. So I won't be blamed.

@PauloCereda :)

@Johannes_B :) You'll love V6. :)

@PauloCereda Why me?

@Johannes_B :(
@cgnieder: that's it, to hell with this saving thingy. We can exploit the powerful rule system now. :P
Damn, of course I can! I'm so stoopid!

9:14 PM
@PauloCereda To be honest: If arara tells me FAILURE i feel like the earth was destroyed.

% arara: pdflatex: { repeat: 10 }
@Johannes_B Spoilers: I'll add new cool messages and even the possibility of colours!
Think of this added with a BIG RED TEXT!
bwawawawawa

@PauloCereda Everything is better with colours

@Johannes_B Yay!

@PauloCereda :-D

@cgnieder: there's also an evil system inside the tool. Hopefully, no one other than Heiko will use it. :P

9:16 PM
@PauloCereda Reminds me of cnx-software.com/2012/06/05/…

@Johannes_B I'm gonna enable this right now.

@PauloCereda Sounds intriguing! Evil is always interesting :)

@PauloCereda

@Johannes_B lol

@cgnieder a taste for you:

9:19 PM
@PauloCereda I like it, a lot.

[
    name : "Halt everything",
    command : { return new Trigger('halt', []) },
    exit : {}
]
It means that, if you have:
% arara: pdflatex
% arara: pdflatex
% arara: halt
% arara: biber
arara will stop processing directives after halt. :)
But halt is a rule, Trigger('halt', []) is a internal trigger. :)
This manual will take forever to be written. :P

@PauloCereda Mind if i send you a mail tomorrow?

@Johannes_B Not at all, be my guest

@PauloCereda Ok, thanks, be prepared.

@Johannes_B :)

9:26 PM
Guys, going home for today. Take good care.

@Johannes_B See ya! :)

@Johannes_B Good night!

@PauloCereda Oh! I can think of a use case already for a halt rule.
@Johannes_B Good night

@cgnieder ooh do tell me. :) Note that this trigger is a command, so you can put it in the end of your list of commands. :)

@PauloCereda in my manuals for my packages I have examples that are compiled as external documents and the resulting PDFS are then input. If those examples have arara rules then they are taken for the main document currently which means I can't use them there. A halt rule would enable that

9:32 PM
@cgnieder Ah got it. :)

% arara: pdflatex: { shell: on }
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage[example]{cnltx}
\begin{document}
\begin{example}[compile,program=arara]
  % arara: pdflatex
  \documentclass{article}
  \begin{document}
    foo
  \end{document}
\end{example}
\end{document}

10:24 PM
Silent chat ;-)
Users communicate telepathically ...

@ChristianHupfer Or have something else to do. ;-) For example thinking how can England try beating India in the next test.
@ChristianHupfer And one has to think really hard.

@egreg: You should write a LaTeX3 simulation and figure out the best strategy ;-) That will provide the next 100k reputation ;-)

@ChristianHupfer I don't think that 10000 lines of code would suffice. :P

@egreg: 10 rep by myself for upvoting your answer and David will provide a bounty for the remaining 99990 reps ;-)

@ChristianHupfer \cs_new_protected:Nn \will_england_learn_how_to_bat:nn {..}

10:32 PM
@ChristianHupfer It would be a shame to waste the rep on such an unworthy cause

@DavidCarlisle: unworthy ? ;-)

And then \cs_generate_variant:Nn \will_england_learn_how_to_bat:nn { no }

so who wants rep for \label before \caption ?

@DavidCarlisle: You need some, for the bounty , so go ahead ;-)

@ChristianHupfer we must surely have a canonical answer for that

10:38 PM
@DavidCarlisle: How about a combo-box with canonical answers/comments ?
Two close votes already ;-)

@ChristianHupfer needed to close it quickly before @egreg picked up an easy 15

@DavidCarlisle Voted.

@DavidCarlisle: Voted too: "Unclear what you're asking" ;-)

@egreg hopefully you'll get three % at end of line questions tomorrow, to get you over the line.

@DavidCarlisle I'm just waiting for them.

10:46 PM
@egreg then you have to plan how to get your next palindrome....

@DavidCarlisle I can return to a palindromic cycle if I downvote four answers. Let me find some candidates. Or just wait for the next 200K.

I am off, good night/morning to everybody

@ChristianHupfer good night

Q: Is there any global settings to add \limits to evey \sum, \bigcup etc?

user59526I'd like to put the superscripts and the subscripts always above or below the symbols like \sum,\bigcup,\inf etc, even in the inline mode, but I don't want to add \limits everytime. I tried \everymath{\displaystyle} which forces \displaystyle for all math in the book, but that makes the symbols ...

I'm tempted to answer: “I know how to do it, but I won't tell you, for the sake of typography”.
