Why does a cool language like Scheme or Beta or Oz never take off as an implementation language with a useable library base???

There used to be really workable (commercial) versions of Modula-2 on the Atari ST. Delphi is probably also respectable (don't know it though, only Turbo Pascal). But apart from this, there seems to be desolation all about :-(

Frustratingly, web resources like sitepoint.com/best-programming-language-learn-2014 all list the same boring set of languages. At least Scala and Haskell get an honourable mention, so maybe these are the next to look at...

Go might be another option, but it's impossible as a search word for finding resources - how can one name a language like that????

@s__C Writing a truly flexible class for slides is hard: there are two LaTeX approaches which are currently maintained, and as you say beamer at least has some 'interesting' features. I suspect writing a new one would not solve your requirements as there would be some assumptions which depending on use case might still not apply.

@Johannes_B In ancient times, people running mailing programs discovered that remailers got confused when a message had multiple lines starting with From. So all mailing programs were required to add > in front of every From starting at column 1 except for the line where the sender's address were.

I believe that modern mail programs strip the > when showing the message, but the raw source still can have it.

Try sending yourself a message with a couple of From at column one (text only, of course).
