The \cellcolor command from package colortbl doesn't seem to have any effect in a tabulary environment, though it works in tabular. Here is a minimal example:

Help!!!! I am trying to compile a final run of my thesis that needs to go to my supervisor today. What a surprise, suddenly stuff goes wrong. I've made a couple of minor changes (e.g. removing the \usepackage{glossaries} that I am no longer using and a few changes to the text, and I've updated my .bst file. This morning, there is now no equation counter. What can I have done wrong - no matter how many times I compile I get: "Latex warning: Reference `eq:blah' missing".
Any ideas what I could have done to cause that?
Ha. Never mind. Also unsurprisingly, as soon as I ask for help I find the problem.
A very weird one, I am using subimport, somehow one of the lines of subimport had changed from \subimport{introduction/}{introduction} to \subimport{introduction/}{introduction.tex}. Most peculiar. Why would I suddenly do that? Though I did fall asleep working on the document last night, so maybe I was sleep-typing??

@1010011010 it's not the programming language it's the way its programmed. Numeric libraries have years (several hundred man years in our case) of work in organising computation in ways to avoid rounding errors. So while it's fun to program things in Tex, I would be vary wary of using any computational results for anything other than fun or for low accuracy computations good enough for plotting.
@JosephWright Honestly, I don't need pinpoint accurate results with errors under 10^-16, but I've achieved 10^-7 error for some algorithms I already coded and I think this can be achieved for other algorithms too. Using arrays and small numbers have been a battle from the very start and I have to find a balance between presenting the problem in a solvable way and presenting the full extent of what I'm trying to do. :-/
@DavidCarlisle Thanks for mentioning it because that's precisely the intended end use case! But the numbers are off so far with my current algorithms and functions that the plot makes no sense.
@DavidCarlisle Depends on the sort of accuracy you work with: I'd hope TeX-based calcs can work out masses of molecules for me well enough! (I need around 6 s.f. max :-))
@1010011010 yes well that's the thing with numeric computation: you can be a fraction out and invert it or take an exponential and you are suddenly nowhere near. For my PhD I stuck to pure math over finite fields, far more reassuring:-)
@DavidCarlisle I'm off by a factor 1.5 to 2. In the case where the filling under the graph should be subtle, the entire graph is filled. I have hope that TeX can do better.
@1010011010 yes well as Joseph indicated the l3 FPU is supposed to be IEEE double arithmetic so TeX can do as well as your hardware, the question isn't whether tex can, it's can you:-)
@1010011010 :-) well I didn't mean you personally of course, it's just a logical outcome of turing completeness, you should be able to get the same results using any system, it's just a matter of programming them suitably....
@Trefex I have colleagues who would be suspicious of anything which looks too much like a printed paper if asked to review it: they actively prefer a traditional manuscript

The top one is what I now use. I like it only because it is more dark. The bottom one I do not know what it was as I lost the code for it. Which you think looks better? The top one or the bottom one? The top one uses the code I show above. The bottom one I do not know what I use for it.
@DavidCarlisle As I said, I have no clue about fonts, I just load packages to try things or when I read someone mentions it that it is good. I wish there was an easy to follow guide to tell users in simple terms which packages to load for fonts. There are so many and each time I google this, I get different people saying to load something else
@DavidCarlisle what is the canonical package sets to load for good math fonts? I know I need T1, but what else? etc... There are so many.
@Nasser well lmodern is derived from the original computer modern font set which of course was designed by Knuth to have matching math and text fonts. mathptmx (is a very old) virtual font hack to cobble together some math fonts using the original standard postscipt times/helvetica/courier/symbol font set so that it looked better when using times roman body fonts
Ok, will remove mathptmx. Thanks @egrep. But which is the canonical set I need to load? how many are there and which ones. I am confused on this. If there is an example latex file I can look at to tell me exactly which ones to use, no less and no more.
@PauloCereda I used arara for getting the data refreshed via PythonTeX behind the scenes and externalize bunch of GnuPlot back-ended pgfplots graphs via Pandas. It is perfect. So thanks a lot for that :)

@egreg I mean how will new user know which font packages to load/use to avoid conflict if there is no known sets to load. I need to use \usepackage[T1]{fontenc}? how about \usepackage{lmodern}? how about \usepackage{amsfonts}? do I need \usepackage{mathptmx}? etc.... I do not know how to change default font. How many packages do I need to load to change default font? Is there a simple document that describes all of this?
@Nasser mathptm(x) only makes sense when using times as body font and not embedding fonts as basically you can make a ps or pdf file that contains no fonts and is much smaller, when people were paying by the second to download that was an issue, even though the typography was always a bit suspect (or as @egreg puts it, "poor")
@Nasser why is it hard? for many years there was effectively only one set and no one ever thought about fonts you just went \documentstyle{article}\begin{document}xxx so move on a few decades and there are now lots of possibilities, but you don't have to use any of them, computer modern is still a reasonable choice, if you don't like the look of it you can choose something else but you can't really expect a "canonical" choice.
@Nasser amsfonts is needed for \mathfrak; it's automatically loaded by amssymb (which provides several math symbols). The T1 encoding is necessary for European languages different from English.
@Nasser the original OT1 encoding is 7bit ascii (more or less) so e-acute is an e with an accent constructed with \accent placed over it, that looks OK but as it isn't a single letter you can't specify hyphenation for words with accented letters. T1 is an 8bit encoding (latin1 more or less) and so has accented European letters as letters that can take part in hyphenation patterns
I like to have more than one title in my beamer presentations (sort of an intro to another section) but that updates the title in the sidebar. I'm using the hannover theme. Does anyone know how to keep the title in the sidebar fixed?
