I just discovered \@afterheading and it's perfect for me (I am putting a mdframed box which should act as a heading) however, I notice that it only forces 1 line to be on the same page as the heading, rather than the usual 2. Why might this happen?
@jtbandes The rule is usually not to force two lines to be on the same page as the heading, only the first line is guaranteed. But LaTeX usually tries to keep the first two lines of a paragraph together. So what you observe could be that the first two lines are not part of a common paragraph or this is a seldom case where it is preferable to break off the first line of a paragraph (widow).

@CodeMocker It's a matter of conventions. Since Hilbert it has been preferred to say "congruent" rather than "equal". I would never use "equal in measure" as a substitute for "congruent": measuring angles is a consequence of the axioms on congruence of angles.
@egreg I like him, but he had some bad experiences abroad. He was originally from Palmeiras, then he was transferred to Barcelona, then back to us, and now to Napoli.

Anyone home? I've tried probably four or five times in the last siz months to get Hebrew working with my windows installation of windowslive + texmaker, with no luck. It's uber frustrating to say the least. I've read every question and answer on this site and everyone seems to have the same issues and I still can't find a single coherent answer or step-by-step guide to an easy installation. I don't want to open a too-specific question, but I can't seem to find a single guide on installing fonts.
In any case, I'll paste my problem just in case. I'm trying to compile xelatex + polyglossia, which I have installed, and can't compile anything because either "The current roman font does not contain the Hebrew" or "fontspec error: "font-not-found" The font "David CLM" cannot be found."
Every MWE that I try has a similar error. I don't even mind what font it is, I'm just trying to get something to compile..
As an aside, I've tried sharelatex and similar online sites that have hebrew mwe's in their help docs, and they don't even compile. That can't be my fault because it's their installation and their documentation (and I didn't make any mistakes in the copy-pasting) and it still doesn't work.

@bjorne this one is declaring the font but not using it? (I don't have that font either) what operating system are you on (there must be a system font that covers Hebrew)
It looks that way, but that's because you have to declare a font (otherwise you get the first error I posted). I'm on windows (otherwise this would be much easier I think)
There are standard fonts, for example David, Miriam, but replacing that font declaration with those names produces the same error

Thanks again all. Just for the sake of completeness, does the tex font system in general use its own repository of fonts, or does it check the system fonts, or both (or does it differ between implementations)? I'm wondering because I have found some mf Hebrew font files from my university but didn't know how to install them (maybe they're only babel related), but now am wondering if it's sufficient just to install regular system fonts.
@bjorne that is the big difference between xelatex/luatex and classic tex, xelatex and luatex can read ttf and otf fonts and extract them from the system font setup. classic tex uses its own fonts in its own format

@kan It depends on what the people you submit the paper to want. If they ask for the .bib file, just place it at the beginning of your document between \begin{filecontents*}{<filename>.bib} and \end{filecontents*}. If they don't want to bother, just replace the \bibliography{<filename>} command with the contents of the generated .bbl file.
