As people in physics.stackexchange.com are not interested in solving this kind of problem, probably you can help me here. The problem is depicted as follows. Find the instantaneous acceleration of each box right after the red thread is cut. In my calculation only the fourth box gets accelerated by g(m1+m2-m3-m4)/m4, other boxes don't get accelerated, it means a=0 for other boxes. So do you get the same result?

Anyone know of any good considerations in favor of using mathdesign as opposed to using mathastext (or vice versa)? I'm using baskervald as my normal text font and have been using it with the charter option set on mathdesign, but I recently learned of the mathastext package. Are there any reasons to prefer one or the other option?

Why people use filenames with spaces? They are evil!

If an extension is supplied it assumes it's a glossary file and doesn't bother parsing the aux file.

I brook that Latex can be faster than MathType. Per contra, whenever Latex is slower than something like MathType, what are some alternatives to Latex and MathType ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_WorkPlace seems arcane? Inasmuch as I'm a beginner with Latex, I find it toilsome to typ...

@NicolaTalbot The infinite monkey problem. If it is posibble, some user will. But in Windos it is not possible, because Windows strips the double quotes. In fact it helps sometimes to save a file with double quotes: In Notepad and surely other default Microsoft programs you get then exactly the intended name, and Windows does not add a file extension (the default for this program).

My left ear tunnel is swollen, and the inflammation managed to affect the upper jig as well, so I have troubles eating, and the pain is so strong that even the maximum daily dose of paracetamol doesn't manage to remove the pain, only to reduce it slightly

They used hot tea and cold packaging only, and they took shifts in being awake with us the whole night

@StephanLehmke well, usage of painkillers isn't good, it's only comfortable for both the doctor and the parent. When I was young, there was no painkiller pills or syrop for children, it simply didn't exist.

@tohecz What exactly is not good about it? It makes you able to keep going, which is the one most important requirement for healing.

@StephanLehmke it's quite heavy on your livers, and it's not really well tolerated by the stomach, likely causing vomitting. Usually, this is now suppressed by some additives in the syrop. Btw, I remember that there used to be paracetamol suppositories for the most serious cases, but you couldn't get them for free

@tohecz Do you have any quotation for this? I read a lot (of stuff for non-professionals) on Paracetamol, and the conclusion was always that there is no problem unless you overdose.

However, it works if I add \usepackage[utf8]{luainputenc}, but I've read that this is not recommended.

Question : How do you cite in a beamer presentation? I would like to use an authoryear style but if all the (full) references are at the end of the presentation, it is quite hard to see them for the audience.

Hmm, it would be worth a question, wouldn't it? I'm also interested.

@ppr I use author/year and most people know the relevant citations anyway if they are fairly knowledgeable of your area, and if not, they probably don't need to know the actual reference.

I've sometimes seen very minimal references used in key places (like Author, Year, Journal Name+volume).

But usually these are the ones of the presenter's own work. (No judgment being passed here.)

@ppr Yes, they are, but still important to have, I think, in case anyone asks. I use biblatex especially when I use beamer because it's easy to customize the reference list. It also wouldn't be hard to create a minimized version of \fullcite for the ones where you want the kind of reference I mentioned.

I could only find questions demanding a specific align for a single cell.

Hello everybody. I have a short question: I nearly always use the KOMA-classes for typesetting and the `titlesec` package to customize the headings. But with recent KOMA versions I get

Class scrbook Warning: Usage of package `titlesec' together
(scrbook) with a KOMA-Script class is not recommended.

Is there a good alternative to `titlesec`, which is compatible with KOMA or another "best practice"?

@HenriMenke Doesn't KOMA have it's own interfaces for this?

@HenriMenke If you like titlesec and accept the fact that you'll not be able to use KOMA-Script's own options for customizing the headings you can ignore the warning.

@HenriMenke Or you re-read your copy of the KOMA-SCript book ;) and learn its own interface

@JosephWright AFAIK, one can only adjust some lengths, like \chapterheadstartvskip and the font via \setkomafont{...}.

@HenriMenke KOMA provides \addtokomafont for customising the headings. I've got some information about it in my tutorials

@JosephWright Perhaps it's worth adding it to the text building blocks.

@cgnieder Thanks for the link. Interesting indeed, but using \patchcmd for styling chapters seems very tedious to me.

@PauloCereda using spaces in file names is the bug. It's not arara's fault if users do s̶t̶u̶p̶i̶d̶ strange things
