Q: Wrapping titles don't line up on the left correctly

Alex AngasNoticed on questions with titles that wrap over to the next line (e.g. this one) that the spacing doesn't line up correctly on the left:

If we have tips/articles on how to do something cool with SharePoint, where do we post them? It wouldn't be appropriate to post as a question.

Jin
@alex some of our stackexchange communities have their own blogs
maybe SharePoint.se should have one too!

6:57 AM
@Jin i think that would be useful. there are a lot of FAQ type questions that could be addressed there.

7:41 AM
@Alex Please feel free to suggest this on our SharePoint Meta site!
Once again updated the mod messages as in some cases they were linking to how to use the ask/answer UI rather than write questions and answers

Q: "Asked" box background bleeds into related questions

Alex AngasIn the bottom-right corner of a question, the background of the "asked by" box bleeds into the list of related questions: (By the way, I'm using Google Chrome 13 when reporting these bugs.)

Q: Add a blog to the SharePoint SE

AlexIt would be great to have a blog as part of the SP SE site, where the gurus can post articles, FAQs, etc. It could also have a way for users to submit blog articles they've written or found and have the moderators add them to the main blog.

?

@AlexAngas Wow very nice. I've updated my copy. Too bad there isn't a way to push changes automatically. ;)
@vikasmehta Looks like there are a couple question about membership providers though I haven't implemented one myself.

Q: Missing centre-right section of header

RawlingIn the very top header, I can only see the SuperCollider dropdown on the left and the search box on the right, no user details/chat/main/about/faq in between. I can see they're still there in the source, they just don't appear for me. This applies in both Main and Meta. I'm using XP Pro and IE7...

Hrm.. I'm not sure about the favicon
I can't see the s hardly at all in IE8 and FF 6
I finally got the new ones after having to do a full cache clear

Jin
2:15 PM
@KitMenke yeah i'm going to rework the favicon some
i was hoping the white part would be enough contrast against browser tab's gray, but doesn't look like it's enough.

@Jin Awesome! I think it probably just needs a dark background

Jin
yeah i agree.

@Jin Yeah it looks good when the tab isn't selected haha

2:36 PM
I didn't even notice there was an S in the favicon until reading this!

3:13 PM
Anyone around, I need a little help with XSLT search results paging

@KitMenke The idea behind a Community Wiki post is that rather than it be owned by the author, it's owned by the community. When we mark our posts in that fashion, we're saying that anyone else who wants to change its content or contribute more to it have the ability to do so. It's intended to allow for more collaboration on solutions: meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/11740/…

@JohnFerringer Yeah, I understand what a CW is but was curious why. I was curious since now you won't get rep. Plus, anyone can propose an edit to your answer.

7:28 PM
Ah, I see now that my question in meta about the favicon is already discussed here in chat.
http://meta.sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/426/transparent-favicon-in-chrome

@Dribbel Yeah good call. I didn't post it in meta

Jin
yeah i'll be fixing that

Great!
Maybe the S in the Hexagon is a little bit too abstract and complicated (at the same time) to make a great logo

Jin
it definitely looks better on a darker bg

Yeah it does look a lot better

Jin
7:40 PM
i'll upload the new favicons today

So far pretty smooth deployment though @Jin
Only these small issues I think :)

That is better!

Jin
also for your twitter avatar comment
i've updated it.
i'm going to use that instead

Nice! Twitter is blocked here at work.. :/

Nice! Let me reload my twitter client :)

7:46 PM
haha yeah... iPhone it is

Much better!

Jin
looks great on a tshirt too! :)

Jin

Larger! Supermanstyle!

7:48 PM
Haha none of my friends will understand if/when I wear that shirt

Jin
ha i try not to make our SE tshirts with big logos, urls etc.. it may look a bit too "advertisy"
so i focus more on the aesthetics of the design, so people don't mind wearing them

What if the URL was on the back?
Logo on the front with the URL on the back

bah, i rather have a blank back
or jsut the logo

Jin
we prefer to have the url with the logo.

Maybe with a bigger logo the url isn't that 'big'

7:50 PM
@Dribbel Yeah thats what I was thinking

Q: Transparent FavIcon in chrome

DribbelFirst: I like the new design! It is great. One minor detail is the FavIcon color and its transparency. In my list of tabs and bookmarks it is dull and doesn't stand out. (I'm using Chrome here) In my Favorites tools bar: You can hardly see the S and the hexgon-lines are almost invisible, only s...

Errr.. @StackExchange is late to the party.

Jin
yeah.. slacker

So are we going to have to fight over the t-shirts?

beware my -photoshop- gimp-skillz:
In my opinion the url and logo are more in balance

7:57 PM
Oh snaps, just got the official "Congrats on graduation" email.

Jin
ha. the infamous "Make the logo bigger"

You act as if you've done this before..... MOAR LOGO

btw in the topbar on meta my silver badge is completely blending in with the background :)

I don't even have a silver badge on meta... :(

Jin
yeah meta theme needs some tweaking, which i'm doing now
i may go with a all white background for the site.

8:05 PM

@Dribbel LOL!

@KitMenke I only got the free yearling badge, for being early (even pre beta)

Jin
hmm there's a Make the Logo Bigger song..

Dangit.. YouTube is blocked at work too. Curse you interwebs!

whahahahaaa

8:08 PM
@Jin I think the white background would make it look "less dreary"
We've had a ton of meta participation lately which is awesome
And our traffic is off the charts
I guess when you get tweets from Jeff and Joel, you're bound to get some more traffic.
Even though Joel made fun of us.. :( :( :(

Jin
yeah. well it's mostly jeff 'n joels' tweets
there's no such thing as bad publicity! :)

Well the overwhelming majority had positive things to say

Jin
yeah. i'm curious about the stats of yesterday
probably had a huge spike

Yeah huge spike, ~45% increase
Now we just gotta keep all those eyes :)

8:29 PM
I'm off, bye :) Time for one last beer and then some sleep :) A busy day ahead of SharePoint Rescue!
