@AlanMunn -- Interesting, but why is it necessary these days to move around just for the sake of moving around? What's wrong with staying in one place, as long as one has interesting and challenging assignments and the experience continues to be fun? Not saying "It''s always been done this way," but using gained experience to raise sensible questions so that the next project is successful in meeting the stated (and unstated) needs.

Hi friends! @TeXnician originally posted this message on the IoT community space in Matrix, so I am cross-posting here for visibility:
> Dear Island of TeX community, we have decided to retire two of our basically unmaintained projects: TeXplate and TeXPrinter. We have not really updated them in years (especially TeXPrinter) and do not even have real future plans for them.
> You can now find them in the IoT's very own bermuda triangle at gitlab.com/islandoftex/bermuda. If there is any interest in these projects or even interest of taking over one of them, feel free to reach out to us. Projects may not be lost forever in our version of the bermuda triangle 🙂
You gotta love @TeXnician's idea for our version of the Bermuda Triangle :)

Chickens are very good at playing keyboards :)
@AlanMunn @barbarabeeton ^^ ooh
I know it's naughty, but it would be funny to have a voice over at the end, "This was brought to you by KFC" :)
@PauloCereda haha!

Does someone have an idea where \fontencoding{LECO} comes from? If i try to run it, i get LaTeX Error: Encoding scheme LECO' unknown.`
It says @DavidCarlisle in the header of the file ;)
@Lupino so you know who to blame ;-) (I don't think that I ever saw that encoding).
11:04 AM
me neither... I need to render an inverted breve (u311) with pdflatex / xmltex
11:25 AM
A LEGO encoding would be funnier

@samcarter ooh
11:45 AM
:/ the solution in tex.stackexchange.com/questions/38897/… wouldn't work, because I already have too many math alphabets m( got it to run using \def\invbreve#1{\def\x##1{\fontencoding{T3}\selectfont\textroundcap{{\fontencoding{T1}\selectfont##1}}}\ifmmode \x{$#1$}\else\x{#1}\fi} Ugly, but working…
12:40 PM
@samcarter What would that look like? It allows only characters like u, m, n, ö, ü ?
@Lupino I think a lego encoding should change all text to this style: i.sstatic.net/iV9JZF1j.png :)
1:01 PM
@PauloCereda -- That's rather like the parades of bunnies around here earlier this spring, only much, much slower!

Bär got himself a suitcase for Prague! He's now considering what to take along
but he will leave some place to bring back souvenirs from the conference
and he hopes @yo' hasn't forgotten to prepare conference cards for him and Professore van Duck.

It will be fun to see them checking the content at the security gate.
Is Macs known to use U+0061 and U+0300 instead of using U+00E0 directly. Have a webapp which produces data for me in LaTeX, but a single user is using that dual combo (which gives error). I think I'll just see if I can filter)
@daleif yes, Macs like combining accents.
1:36 PM
@UlrikeFischer grr, and at least this combination is not supported by LaTeX (at least not pdflatex)
@barbarabeeton At least in the academic world, moving is about the only way possible to raise your salary in a meaningful way. And it's very hard to do.
@UlrikeFischer -- Bunny says "Have a great time! I'll miss not being there."
@AlanMunn -- Ah, indeed. My experience has been non-commercial, but not purely academic either. Professional societies seem to be rather out of the ordinary that way, or at least they used to be.
1:54 PM
@daleif yes, you really need an unicode engine here.
2:23 PM
@barbarabeeton We will miss bunny (and of course you), too!

Hi folks. I was wondering if it was possible to reduce space or suppress it entirely for an individual item of an itemized list with enumitem enabled.
enumitem itself does not seem to have any mechanism for this.
yo'

8:41 PM
@UlrikeFischer If you better send me the names and affiliations to put there, so that I get it right, I'll be ready!
9:00 PM
@Lupino a figment of Sebastian's imagination
@egreg That was... hairy.
9:25 PM
@mickep Do you mean the goal at 90+7? Just to keep suspense high.
2
@egreg Indeed!
9:39 PM
@egreg my father used the call it "Lo Stellone" (big star, as incredible luck, that used to go with the team). It seems it's back...
@Rmano I would call it something different :D
@Rmano We could mention a body part… ;-)
@CarLaTeX @egreg yep, that was indeed more common. 😁
@Rmano :D

Sorry for the comma
10:22 PM
@CarLaTeX We had the same exact thought, it seems!
@egreg Yes, exactly the same :D
@CarLaTeX Do you think it's safe if I go on tour in Croatia next weekend?
@egreg I'd avoid it :D
@CarLaTeX There's a place where they have truffle based menu!
@egreg It's surely good but I don't like truffle smell
