@egreg are you around?

@AlanMunn I'm really sorry. (But, no, I don't expect you to believe me.)
@cfr ? Now I'm really confused.

@yo' Sorted

@JosephWright Thanks!

@Skillmon We are going to merge the PR about local/global options - I'll look again at your comments today and sort minor issues
08:37
@AlanMunn Not at that time of the night!

psfrag :(
10:31
@DavidCarlisle ??
@JosephWright @UlrikeFischer broke it (plain tex, similar to but different to the texlive list email this morning)
@DavidCarlisle Oh no
@JosephWright see email
@DavidCarlisle what did I do?
@UlrikeFischer I don't know (and it probably wasn't you) but clearly you should take the blame, graphics package update and miniltx from graphics-pln are not in agreement:-)
10:49
@Skillmon I haven't been able to recreate it. And did not save a copy sadly.
@UlrikeFischer @JosephWright actually I don't think the change is in graphcs, there really isn't much difference there, must be a change in the format, I'll trace later
@DavidCarlisle I meant, what is different? I see it errors because of the missing commands, but when I add them to graphicx.tex it seems to compile fine?
@UlrikeFischer the psfrag example dies horribly:-)
@UlrikeFischer oh I think you fixed it
@UlrikeFischer just needs \@spaces (for some reason)
@JosephWright ooh no!
@daleif infinite undo buffer?
11:14
@DavidCarlisle Ah

Is it possible to connect these both windows to one?
13:16
@cis ??
@JosephWright presumably asking if texworks can split its window rather than have two windows. (I have no idea:-)
@DavidCarlisle 'No, it's a two-window application'
cis
cis
Ah, there's a 'Windows' tab with some useful options.
But TeXwork should always have two separate windows. A pity.
....
........
If I have a result like this: with so unsightly places, could this mean, that the font is not scalable?

Note: In this case I am not using the font for the 'spade' directly but an svg version with the 'Object to Path' option.
@cis If you ask about a specific editor, it would help if you would mention the name of the editor.

@samcarter Inkscape
@samcarter But the pucture is from a TeX-document. In Inkscape is all fine.
13:36
@cis inkscape might be showing you a smoothed path, but that's just a guess.
@cis looks like a scalable font to me (if you scale a bitmap font you would typically see a staircase effect) but that the path is not smooth at the point it is closed. that can happen but it's an issue with the specific control points of the path not a general issue about the font fomat
@DavidCarlisle You sure the array document is backed up often enough? :P
@samcarter I missed the rule: blame @UlrikeFischer if the regexp destroys your document.
@DavidCarlisle :)

@DavidCarlisle Ah, I understand.

@JosephWright If you are around please, I have a question: We just got ready to release TeX Live in Overleaf, but it wouldn't include the newest update from earlier this month. I suppose that this update changes a lot, so it's not easy to make it just by upgrading a few packages, right? In particular I expect that the binaries have changed?
(I'm trying to push for us to include the latest update, but it is tricky)
19:33
@yo' You’d need PL1 a d there are some knock-ons …
@yo' we don't change binaries, but you really should make sure that you have LaTeX2e <2024-06-01> patch level 1 if you don't want to get reports about broken tabulars.
19:54
@yo' As well as PL1, update tools and xfrac
yo'
yo'
So to make sure: selectively updating only these couple packages should work? Is the precise list somewhere? (Sorry for asking probably dumb-sounding questions)
@yo' The core LaTeX release set (base, amsmath, tools, graphics, latex-lab,first aid) plus xfrac i think
yo'

Thanks a lot! That might be fast to test :)
20:17
@JosephWright and tabularx I think
@UlrikeFischer ty you mean
@DavidCarlisle ah right, well one of your many tabular packages.
20:47
@cfr comment gone
@JosephWright defeated my test file :(
oh perhaps not
The tag [quotation] marks only few posts (including tex.stackexchange.com/questions/720953 ) but has no description. If anybody cares to write a description or to drop the tag altogether, please feel free …
@DavidCarlisle ???
@JosephWright I wrote a test file to check that ts1cmr.fd is loaded, and l3build normalises fd files out of the log but it's OK as this line chages:
- LaTeX Font Info: Trying to load font information for TS1+cmr on input line
21:07
@DavidCarlisle Don’t remember normalising fd files
^^^ @yo' this is your fault
@JosephWright -- Zap .fd lines: drop the first part, and skip to the end
@DavidCarlisle ah
yo'

21:22
@DavidCarlisle yep <3
@UlrikeFischer thanks!
@yo' the query about OT1 fonts and luatex the other day started a chain of events...
yo'
yo'
@DavidCarlisle that's not wrong, if you asked me :)
Now I'm sorry, we need to convince our 8 month old that 11:30 is too late for a bed time.
@yo' one problem you perhaps will get is that pdfx is broken in a current latex.
