how can i make an enumerate list like: 0th, 1st, 2nd,3rd,4th,...?

@Rmano awesome thank you

@FaheemMitha you have to work quite hard to add a character 10, so its catcode doesn't matter much.

My home PC has limited disk space so I only install what I need. However I've noticed that a package like mathptmx (I know it is bad, it is for an example) does not work, the type1 one fonts are missing. What bundle for TeXLive am I missing?

@daleif tug texlive or a linux one? (tlmgr install mathptmx should in principle be enough for the former)

@DavidCarlisle Upstream TL23
mathptmx is installed but starts trying to run bitmap fonts (metafont)
Tried running updmap --sys --force but that did not help. I do not remember the name of the pfb file so I cannot check it.

I guess you are missing the urw fonts do you not have /usr/local/texlive/2023/texmf-dist/fonts/type1/urw/symbol/usyr.pfb or do you have it but map file missing?
Packages containing files matching `utmr8a.pfb':
times:
        texmf-dist/fonts/type1/urw/times/utmr8a.pfb
@daleif tlmgr install times should give you the pfb it seems

It never installed times, strange that that does not come up as requirement.
It is the same with fourier. The font and the package are not in the same bundle
Ahh it is missing collection-fontsrecommended
tlmgr info mathptmx
tlmgr: cannot find package mathptmx, searching for other matches:

Packages containing `mathptmx' in their title/description:
psnfss - Font support for common PostScript fonts

Packages containing files matching `mathptmx':
breqn:
texmf-dist/tex/latex/breqn/mathptmx.sym
fontinst:
texmf-dist/doc/fonts/fontinst/examples/mathptmx/Makefile
texmf-dist/doc/fonts/fontinst/examples/mathptmx/fontptcmx.tex
texmf-dist/doc/fonts/fontinst/examples/mathptmx/mathptmx.sty
texmf-dist/doc/fonts/fontinst/examples/mathptmx/mathtestx.tex
would have been nice if it listed where the font actually was
concmath has the same issue, no mention of where the fonts are

Anyone around who could vote to reopen tex.stackexchange.com/q/686020/36296 ? The OP deleted their post as soon as they got their answers :(

10:40 AM
@samcarter open or undelete?
@samcarter Never heard of him or seen his code? It is the same OP in both.... rude.

@daleif yes :) Maybe some case of werewolf or vampire and they asked the previous question during a full moon and now don't remember :)

so an undelete vote?

@daleif yes, undelete. Sorry for not being more precise!

@samcarter voted

undelete vote cast

10:48 AM
@daleif @DavidCarlisle Thanks!

@samcarter done

@Rmano Thank you!
Question successfully reopened :)

@samcarter What keeps the OP from just deleting it again?

@samcarter now we should vote to close it for using beamer

@daleif Someone was nice enough to upvote my answers. I think the OP can only delete a post which does not have an upvoted answer

10:56 AM
@samcarter ahh, did not know that

@daleif nothing but if it goes back and forth, the moderators can step in and lock it

@DavidCarlisle :) your mouse finger will hurt from all the clicking to delete all beamer questions :)
@daleif The problem is really when the OP deletes as soon as they get an answer and the answers did not yet have time to get a vote

uhh, after 10+ years of ignoring it, my LaTeX book actually compiles again, only 2 external examples does not work (package changes) and indexing probably does not currently work. But at least progress.

@daleif Yeah!

@samcarter I just find that comment about know knowing where the code comes from excessively rude.

11:02 AM
@daleif Yes, this combined with deleting looks strange. Why not just add a link to fulfil the license requirements?

11:46 AM
@daleif Ohh, maybe we will see some more work on it? thumbsup

2 hours later…
1:21 PM
@mickep at least some updates
I'd really like the way I do the index be applied to packages like tikz/pgf, would make the index a lot easier to use
