@manooooh I often use it in my answer, because it's faster to write \usepackage{mwe} than other packages.
@manooooh Downvoting is very rarely used on this site, usually only wrong answers are downvoted (or spam or similar).

1 hour later…
3:35 AM
@CarLaTeX Rarely, not never... I would like to see all and not the most common options

@manooooh I don't think downvoting is so important in order to have an answer...

4:02 AM
@CarLaTeX you are right, but I think this is not about how important is something. Maybe the person see the picture in the PDF that Paulo and you (and many others) made and think "welp, if I can upvote the other symbol is to downvote". The thing is maybe the person doesn't know why he can downvote, so I think if it was a commentary about these: 1) the person now know for what purposes downvote was created; 2) explain better the mechanism of the site; 3) I am happy :p
I mean what you won for not tell the truth? Sorry, here in my country we are accustomed to not hear all the things... maybe I am crazy :c
@CarLaTeX you and @PauloCereda are friends? O.O

@manooooh Of course we are, but we have never met because there's an Ocean between us :)

@CarLaTeX but I red that you live in the same flat

@manooooh I live with prof. van Duck, not with @PauloCereda ahahah

Hahaa are you a duck-joker? :p
Awww today in a few hours I have a Calculus exam

@manooooh He is prof. van Duck ^^^

4:13 AM
Owwww SO CUTE OMG
Prof. van Duck you are a luckiest duck

The costs for transport was 0 hahaha

@manooooh The first van Duck's article was written for newbies, you need at least 125 rep points to downvote. I think you know how the site works if you reach that score. Maybe he can explain it in the next article, which is about formatting Q&A :)
@manooooh ?
Because ducks fly?

@CarLaTeX please wait I am going to turn change to laptop
I'm here
@CarLaTeX no I don't know how the site works if I reach that score, and I don't care. I am in favor of showing everything the site has to show us, just that. Why not you? Is it... annoying?
@CarLaTeX sorry for the misinterpreting. I mean they have not had to pay the costs of moving the professor

4:33 AM
@manooooh No, simply not relevant, even if you downvote an answer, this doesn't facilitate to have a new one

@CarLaTeX why is not relevant?!?! The downvote is just below the upvote!!

@manooooh @PauloCereda paid the stamp :)
@manooooh not relevant in order to have the answer you desire

@CarLaTeX oww the love is in the air

@manooooh hahaha Paulo could be my son :):):)

@CarLaTeX you know? We are in different tunings. I do not see the negative vote as "almost unusable" because it is used little, like you. I see it because it is there, it has been put before certain situations. And those situations are the ones that I fight because they appear. It's like not telling the whole story ("the history is always counted on the side of those who have won"...)
@CarLaTeX Paulo will not like to read that jiji

4:39 AM
@manooooh He already knows it
@manooooh OK, I'll tell prof. van Duck to remedy in the next article

@CarLaTeX welp, if you live with him...

@manooooh I live with Paulinho

@CarLaTeX No, I know you're not happy with what I said

@manooooh ?

@CarLaTeX Paulinho, Paulo, prof. van Duck, what else? :P

4:42 AM
@manooooh Only with Herr Professor Paulinho van Duck :)

@CarLaTeX don't tell him nothing
@CarLaTeX ya ya haha

@manooooh A reader asked prof. van Duck to write an article about how to include code and pictures in TeX.SE posts, it could be an occasion to explain also how to downvoted, why not?

@CarLaTeX no, of course no. I don't know how is the organization under these kind of posts. I'm just saying that section 3.4 must includes the option to vote negatively on that response that does not comply with the requirements of the site or with the person who has asked
But of course, by how PDF is assembled it seems that everything is happiness and good things, am I wrong?

@manooooh There are problems here like in the real life, but if you follow van Duck's rule it's difficult not to get an answer

@CarLaTeX can you tell for what purposes downvote was created, please?

Q: Understanding Downvotes

Steven B. SegletesI recently posted an answer. It quickly got two upvotes, and then it got a downvote. When I see downvotes on my posts (and I've gotten a few), my impression is "oops, I totally misunderstood what the questioner wanted. I had better reread it." Up to this point, the source of the downvote was ...

@CarLaTeX Alan Munn is CarLaTeX?
Unfortunately, society is not perfect as we would like. In this way, showing what we want, those who have more points continue to have more points, and those who have less points each time have fewer points

@manooooh I downvote only when the answer is spam or very bad, or when there is an high-rep user who ask a question without MWE when it is needed

@CarLaTeX "There are problems here like in the real life, but if you follow van Duck's rule it's difficult not to get an answer"

Q: Poll: "wrong" reasons to upvote

CarLaTeXFrom the Help pages: What is voting up? Voting up is how the community indicates which questions and answers are most useful and appropriate. When should I vote up? Whenever you encounter a question, answer or comment that you feel is especially useful, vote it up! Instea...

@CarLaTeX do you noticed about the second question made on this site?

5:04 AM
@manooooh link?

Oh nothing, I made a mistake. I thought that the question had been asked after it was marked as duplicate to another question, but it turns out that the question was asked before in another forum. My bad
@CarLaTeX telling part of the story does not seem right... Anyway you could erase the downvote, right? i.e. nullifying, remove it from the site

@manooooh Only if the post is edited after you downvoted it

@CarLaTeX nonono I am not talking about that. I mean to remove it from the site, in which only the upvote is alive. Modify the mechanism of downvoting

@manooooh I think that isn't possible, it a Stack Exchange rule.

@CarLaTeX so if it's a rule... why not including that rule in the PDF? :p

5:16 AM
@manooooh OK, you win :)

@CarLaTeX no...
Prof. van Duk won

@manooooh :)

Okay
@CarLaTeX do you work today?
Welp I will go to sleep. Goodnight.

5:35 AM
@manooooh Yes, even if I don't know how, since I haven't slept tonight. I woke up at 4!
@manooooh Goodnight!

@CarLaTeX oh my!! You remember me that TEDx Talk :)

6:08 AM
@manooooh The problem is not waking up early, the problem is being awake during today's meetings

6:47 AM
@CarLaTeX why is it happening to you?

@manooooh anxiety, stress, it's a bad period at work at the moment...

1 hour later…

Checked-in for Rio :)
I've created a room for TUG2018 discussions: chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/80267/tug2018

Seen on c.t.t.:
As I clear my office, I find I have what looks like a complete set of TUGboats from the very first up to last month, plus a large number of individual issues.

If anyone wants these (or perhaps your library, if you work in a university) please email me. No charge, but there will be a cost to send them.

They are largely of historical interest, as the content is available online at tug.org, but sometimes it's nice to touch paper.

///Peter
I'm wondering if UK-TUG might want them

@JosephWright do you have anywhere to put them other than your house?

7:05 PM
@DavidCarlisle My house or my office were the two obvious locations :)
@DavidCarlisle You might guess I've asked the committee

@JosephWright so are you in Rio now?

@DavidCarlisle No, I'm in Norwich ;)
@DavidCarlisle I fly tomorrow

@JosephWright almost same

@DavidCarlisle :)

Just found a German article praising LaTeX3 and the development of LaTeX (if anyone's interested): heise.de/developer/artikel/…

7:15 PM
@TeXnician excellent it's in German, Frank will finally be able to find out what it's all about:-)

7:39 PM
@AlanMunn -- i believe you said you have a nexus card, for traveling back and forth across the u.s./canadian border. is this associated with a particular vehicle registration, or with the person to whom it is issued?

1 hour later…
@PauloCereda packed with orange sauce?

@DavidCarlisle you are mean
I will tell Frank you are mean :)

Jun 29 '17 at 16:15, by Paulo Cereda
@DavidCarlisle you are not mean :)

@DavidCarlisle by the way, my cricketeer duck arrived today. Now I have the duck of my avatar. :)
@DavidCarlisle oh

@PauloCereda Same here

8:59 PM
@JosephWright :) Excited?

@PauloCereda Yes, but also nervous

@JosephWright oh me too
@JosephWright I will do my best to pick you up at the airport

@PauloCereda Cool

@DavidCarlisle See, we ducks help each other

9:25 PM
@PauloCereda you may be disappointed if looking to pick up this at the airport

@DavidCarlisle ooh

9:40 PM
We had coconut juice today: vvvv

@UlrikeFischer ooh

9:51 PM
@UlrikeFischer please tell @CarLaTeX that you had nutella pizza

10:02 PM
@barbarabeeton It's not associated to a vehicle at all. So it only helps at the border if all people in the car have a card, otherwise you have to use the regular lane. It also automatically gives you TSAPre for US airport security (as long as the booking has your number recorded) and lets you through a similar minimal screening at Canadian airports.

1 hour later…
yo'
11:20 PM
@PauloCereda just to make sure, you haven't organized a pick up for me, right? I'm just about to order an official taxi...

11:57 PM
@PauloCereda my Argentinean mom knows Toquinho - Aquarela...
