Hi all, do you know what can cause the space issue here: tex.stackexchange.com/a/426757/2891? I think it must be some wrong font parameter, but I don't know where to look.

@michal.h21 A more serious error. With texlive 2018 make4ht file gives this error:

d:\texlive\2018\texmf-dist\scripts\make4ht\make4ht:62: attempt to index local 'formatter' (a nil value)

@UlrikeFischer ah, that's bad. they are in the zip file I submitted to CTAN, so it seems like an issue with installing these directories in correct places in the TEXMF tree

@Skillmon So then don't vote to close. We have a general tradition here of being quite tolerant with new users and give them some time to respond to comments. The question isn't really that unclear.

@AlanMunn I did vote though. The default spacing should be somewhat narrow so the issue probably lies elsewhere. He didn't react for 5 days now. If he reacts I'm happy to be the first reopen vote, but as of now, I'd close it.

I want to make new command with an argument. I want to generate $\mathcal{D}_{\ell,0}[\Bbb{F}_n]$ with the command \newcommand{\tzdf}{\mathcal{D}_{#1,0}[\Bbb{F}_n]}, where \ell is suppose to be the argument. It doesn't work; what am I doing wrong?

Yes. I typed in \tzdf{\ell}. It almost worked.

@michal.h21 I think the problem is that favr8r.tfm doesn't contain any fontdimens. With latex it is not a problem as pdftex records favr8t in the dvi (and this tfm has fontdimens), but dvilualatex resolves the references to virtual fonts and records the raw font.

@Skillmon I figured it out. It should be "\newcommand{\tzdf}[1]{\mathcal{D}_{#1,0}[\Bbb{F}_n]}" rather than "\newcommand{\tzdf}{\mathcal{D}_{#1,0}[\Bbb{F}_n]}" Notice the former has [1] in it.

Little tikz question: I use .. controls ++(ang_start:len_start) and ++(ang_end:len_end) .. quite a lot. when combining these parts the tangents need to line up and ang_new need to be ang_start +180. Do we have any why to access ang_end of the latest control point? NB: I don't want to save all the angs in macro names.

That strange leg shape is a curve made with about 20 helper points and the path between each point, is a bezier curve with control points at each end. To get a smooth overall curve, the tangents at the connecting ends should be equal but in opposite directions.

@percusse so basically I just wanted to know if we new information about the last used control points.

@percusse I know one can access the data as a post action (there is a nice answer on the site giving a style that visualizes where the control points are), but not whether we can access them during building the path

I nominated this question to be closed as a dup. I see that two other people upvoted my comment, so they might have voted to close it as well. Now, we didn't gather enough votes, and all close votes expired ... and I can't re-vote to close. What is the motivation behind expiring close votes .....

Quick 'n easy question for TikZperts: Why does `\draw[comp] (H13.south){}+(-0.25,0) -- (H1.north){}+( 0.25,0);` respect the offset in the start coordinate but not the end coordinate?
Is there a way of getting TikZ to respect both without resorting to `calc`?

Also, why is this chat not respecting backquotes for code formatting?

@mickep it's for advertising (creating a flyer), I don't know whether free usage is fine in that case. The font's license is about 100 € per weight.

@samcarter Since you seem to be online, may I bug you with a question: can one have a standalone document that uses the beamer settings (especially the font) but crops its content? (I can also ask on the main site, I'm just wondering if you know off the top of your hat.)

@marmot There is a special class option beamer for the standalone class, but if I remember correctly, this does not crop the content.

@samcarter Yes, that's what I also found. Thanks! (I have some TikZ pictures that take rather long to be compiled, but if I just compile them with standalone, the fonts wont't match, and with the beamer option they won't get cropped. And I also do not want to use externalize...)
