8:00 PM
@StefanKottwitz <3
@tohecz Oh no!

@tohecz tex log shows no units (but they are pt not mu)

@DavidCarlisle and shows no mercy too, apparently. :)

@DavidCarlisle ah sorry :(

@tohecz :-)

@PauloCereda :) Well, I go home, and I'll have a nice Ruby Leffe there :)

8:03 PM
@tohecz ooh Belgian beer!

@PauloCereda well, what can you do, in France :p
(just joking, I like that one)

@tohecz Where's your Dom Pérignon? :P

Q: Beer evening in Berlin?

DrorAmong the Berliner members of the community: Would you like to get together and have a beer evening? We'll have plenty of time to talk about TeX and become friends ;) I suggest to have (at least) two answers to this questions: List of participants. If you want to join, then upvote and add your...

@Dror the answer should be community wiki ;)
and I would like to, I'm just quite busy, so it's not easy to find a free weekend, organize accomodation etc. Getting to Berlin is not so bad tho: I have both a direct train and a direct plane :)

@tohecz: That's why I aim, to start with, at the Berliner portion of the community...

8:17 PM
@Dror: I added a picture. :)

@PauloCereda LOL

@PauloCereda: Just saw it! +10!

8:28 PM
Is there non-web tool that you can use to follow the chat room?

Hi @Stephan! Beer in Berlin! :)
@topskip: Patrick! There will be beer in Berlin! :)
@MarcoDaniel: Beer in Berlin! :)
@FrankMittelbach: Frank, there will be beer in Berlin! :)
Best part of the event: expand macros while drunk.

@PauloCereda: You're amazing!

@Dror I'm not. :)
Oh I forgot Clemens! @cgnieder: beer in Berlin!
How about some sort of TeX roulette? One of the macros is not protected, then BAM! :)

@PauloCereda When? :)

8:39 PM
@cgnieder Some day. :)

@PauloCereda Nice idea! If @Dror knows that there is a TeX Stammtisch in Berlin already? projekte.dante.de/Stammtische/Berlin (a bit too far for me, though :( )

@cgnieder It's Dror's idea. :)

@cgnieder: No... I did not know this one. However, I had a TeX.SE evening in mind ;) I guess the intersection between the DANTE and TeX.SE is not empty

We could put an ad on those LaTeX magazines. Oh wait, we might attract the other kind of people.

@Dror probably not :) unfortunately Berlin is over 600 km away from my place... I used to live there for some years but moved a few years ago

8:45 PM
@PauloCereda: Other?

@Dror Latex. :P Case matters. :P

@PauloCereda: I'm afraid I didn't get that one... :(

@Dror It's better that way. :)

@cgnieder: please, make sure the guys sing this:

8:49 PM
@PauloCereda lol

@egreg: beer! :)
@cgnieder Do it. :)

@cgnieder 600km? Just a short trip.

@egreg I used to visit Berlin on weekends quite regularly... but I haven't managed yet since June last year... long overdue

@cgnieder: youtube.com/watch?v=MjdDMxxtDTE I need this album in my iTunes playlist!

@PauloCereda :) that sounds as much German as a Hocketse

8:56 PM
@PauloCereda Whoa. But we need to ban laptops and anything smarter than a lamp.

@percusse Yep. :)
I think I am smarter than a shrimp. Well, not a big shrimp. :)

Otherwise they will be answering questions and the warm beer leads to strange answers.
Also gotta love TeX-SX. I've been on SO for a week now, man don't they suck at basic communication....

@percusse What happened, sir?

@PauloCereda Nothing just reading comments is enough to get angry to each party in a discussion :)

@percusse LOL that's true. :)

9:01 PM
The competition is fierce.
They need an egreg and David to settle down the wannabees :)

@percusse LOL

9:26 PM
@percusse In the top page I see only a few question with more than one answer
And Jon Skeet has just 17.2K for the quarter, I have 15.2K. ;-)

@egreg Their posting rate is high, so a lot of questions get lost in a couple of minutes, I guess.
@egreg Who? :)

Why is the annoying flagged message number on a blue background, now?
It has also changed position.

@egreg Yup

A: Top bar should be consistent on all sites... but it's not

Anna LearI just pushed a fix for this. Should be live in the next build. The top bar will look like this across all sites: (That's flags on the left in blue, and pending suggested edits on the right in orange-ish.)

9:59 PM
@JosephWright blue, a perfect choice for a good contrast with almost black ;)
btw, what is your opinion on this? Someone has casted a delete vote, which I don't quite agree with at the moment:
-1
A: Cross-referencing between different files

HosseinA very easy way is to: in chapter II, at the top, say \include{ChapterI}. Then you can say \ref{...}, and every thing that has been labeled in ChapterI will show up

@tohecz It's not really very clear to know what it means (but I suspect if it was clarified it would be wrong:-) (wasn't my vote though:-)

@DavidCarlisle well, it's two hours old. I would say: Let's make the author discover himself that it doesn't work ;)

10:14 PM
@tohecz sure I think just not upvoting (plus your comment) is enough.

btw, don't you know why is amazon offering me in ads things I've already got?
@DavidCarlisle ok, glad I'm not the only one with that feeling :)

@tohecz You may be the kind of generous person who buys stuff on amazon to give away?

@DavidCarlisle lol. Or maybe they don't know that my Czech friend who stays in Scotland bought it for me to save me 10 pounds PnP
because the stuff is about 2 kilos weight

10:53 PM
@TheLastError: Pringles-featured duck? :)

@PauloCereda Yes. Duck face.

@TheLastError Lovely. :)

@PauloCereda :-)
Another one:

Ouch!
:P

@TheLastError that looks completely disguisting

11:05 PM
@tohecz :-)

You gotta love the theorems sometimes:
<i>Let $g=-\max A$.
If (1) then $G=0$.
Otherwise if (2) then $G=\min\{a,\max\{g,0\}\}$.
Otherwise $G=\max\{g,0\}$.</i>
Poor reader!

Hello everyone!
mind=blown: http://codegolf.stackexchange.com/a/21857/15748

@PaulGessler Hi! :)

@PaulGessler well, that one is pretty easy, once you know BF and DF, since all the whitespace is ignored ;)

11:24 PM
@tohecz I suppose, now that I'm thinking about it you could work backwards pretty easily and then just space out the code...

@PaulGessler gotcha! :D

Anyway, I too am disappointed that I won't be on the correct continent for this beer gathering. :( I'm sure you all will have lots of fun

Red becomes blue. What the duck.

$n=<>;$i=9;X:while($n){@d=grep{!($i%$_)}1..$i-1;$l=0;map{$a=$_;$s=0;$s+=$d[$_]for grep{2**$_&$a}0..@d-1;$i++,next X if$s==$i;$l=1 if$s>$i}0..2**@d-1;$n--,print$i,$/if$l;$i++}
WTF?!

@tohecz Looks like something my cat would write when he sleeps on my keyboard. :)

11:29 PM
@PauloCereda Let me introduce my friend Perl, this time he came here directly from Heiko Oberdiek :)

@tohecz Holy cow!
Heiko is amazing: he can write answers about virtually everything. :)

@PauloCereda yep. Btw, the same thing in SageMath:
x=1
def w():
 l=x.divisors()
 return 2*x>=sum(l)or max(2*x==sum(i)for i in subsets(l))
while n:
 while w():x+=1
 print x;n-=1;x+=1

@tohecz :)

@tohecz now in TeX?

@DavidCarlisle your turn, sir :)
however, my winner so far is this algorithm for the cubic root:
def r(x):
 y=0
 while y*y*y-x:y=RR.random_element()
 return y
