Q: Improve Convert-Answer-to-Comment dialog to list answers as possible targets

Martin ScharrerModerators are able to convert answers to comments below the question or other answers. The current dialog allows the moderator to provide the target post of the to-be-created comment: The dialog is preset with the ID of the question but moderators have to manually copy and paste the ID of or...

My TeX-SX reputation is poised to take over as my highest rep on the (wider) SE network! (For the lazy, at time of writing: TeX-SX stands at 12128 and MO at 12136).
Just need one more TikZ question to answer ...

And ... it's overtaken. Now I just need to get two more silver badges. It'll be a while before my bronze badge tally here is enough.

@AndrewStacey: A few epic necromantic answers are all you need then. We still have inordinate amount of unanswered questions, even after the call to arms from meta.

12:44 PM
@MartinTapankov Actually, I just got a Necromancer badge for the above-linked "How to automatically draw a graph" question. Bit of a silly example as I wasn't really answering the question and it already had an accepted answer. I'll take a look at the unanswered list and see what I can come up with.

1:31 PM
@AndrewStacey Very nice! @AndreyVihrov really had an excellent idea there.

@HendrikVogt Completely agree. Much nicer than my original. I now have this stuck on the door to my office. Sadly, I'm on the 12th floor so not many people will see it ...

LOL: So far I lost (i.e. didn't receive) the same amount of reputation because of the reputation cap than I actually received. There should be a badge for that! :-)

i was wondering, if is possible (and if so, commonly done) to footnote table entries in latex?

@Caramdir: Thanks for the edit - that's the problem with providing an answer that I can't actually test myself! (ref: tex.stackexchange.com/questions/17866/…). (Actually, I could test that it compiles so there's no real excuse for me missing that bracket; it was a cut-and-paste error.) Must admit I'm curious as to what the rest of the suggested edit was!

You can look through all suggested edits on tex.stackexchange.com/tools/suggested-edits (part of the 10k tools)

@MartinScharrer You should tell Peter to accept Tomek's answer over yours I think. tex.stackexchange.com/q/17568/2693
@FaheemMitha You can't generally put a footnote into a table, but there are accepted ways around it. Usually this is to implement table notes (as opposed to notes that are part of the rest of the document.) The best is probably the threeparttable package. See the UK FAQ for some discussion.

9:25 PM
@AlanMunn : Thanks. I was hoping to manage without third party packages. Would this be a suitable site question?
Journals often don't like third party packages

@AlanMunn Yeah, it seems to be the better answer.

10:15 PM
@FaheemMitha Well it can be done manually if necessary with \protect\footnotemark and \footnotetext. But things get hairy quickly, if there are a lot of footnotes. (The FAQ covers this idea too.) It's certainly an appropriate question. There's only one question about it currently: Footnotes in tables

10:50 PM
@AlanMunn : Thanks for the pointer. Would any question i asked about this not be considered a duplicate of this question?

11:47 PM
@FaheemMitha I don' think so. You can always link to that question in your question and then explain why the solutions there don't work for your purposes. The issue of not using packages to please journals is certainly relevant. (And your favourite topic it seems :-) )
