12:06 AM
google translate is being ... not good:
> The company is involved in Internet ███████████, which is investigating and engaging in ██████ ██████████.
gonna have to take that sentence out

12:56 AM
@merrybot , please please pleeeez, instead of complete omission please consider publishing with the ████████ blackouts as you just did here.
@matt , good catch! My only excuse for the missppeelling is a now-imaginary feral feline playing on the keyboard while my MathJax code all over this site shows an obsession with correctly-spelled "\kern"
^ from a piano roll recorded by the composer
. . .
@Randal'Thor , i have some guesses at what makes that a bon mot
Worth a rejoinder?: "rit le mieux qui rit dernier"
My favrite guess is that to understand each phrase you must do what the phrase says, to the phrase itself.
. . .
Less than a lifetime ago i was blown away by a theater version of Jekyll-n-Hyde where Hyde was played by multiple actors, sometimes (seemed like, if not actually) simultaenously.
Around the same time i visited so-called Stevenson House in Monterey, CA, where the author darkened some towels for a short while in 1879.
(still aimed @ Rand al'Cetera)
The park system has turned that house into a Stevenson museum with all kinds of exhibits utterly unconnected to anything local. Makes for a fascinating guided tour though.
Ps. I'm still rooting for "Fifteen men on [no article] Dead Man's Chest [capitaliszed as a proper name]." I'd volunteer to ask a Stevenson question or two, but only with coaching, about Jekyll and/or Hyde and/or Dead Man's Chest. (first stop, looking over your Stevenson questions)
Pps. Want some Zorro questions? I learned a lot about both Zorro and those works of Stevenson from Comparative Literature Lover who (as a funloving Francophile) also taught me enough French to enjoy playing with it like a pin~ata: blindfolded in a setting where everyone expects a sweet mess.

1:24 AM
@humn unfortunately LaTeX does not like the █s
however,

@merrybot , not \blacksquare ?

because the redacted stuff was very bad
@humn nope, that only works in math mode

Well, it won't be missed but thank you spilling it here!

:)

And here's a baby picture of my now-imaginary feral feline friend:

1:30 AM
it da kitty!
hold on let me google translate "And here's a baby picture of my now-imaginary feral feline friend:" into nonsense...
> Now about Mana man about the pleasure of the publication of the Author

No fair! Most of what comes out of my keyboard is already certified nonsense.

certified? by whomst?

@merrybot , "Mana"?

@humn i dont know either :p
and "
No fair! Most of what comes out of my keyboard is already certified nonsense.
" becomes ...
> Justice will not! The newspaper talked about all the signs that he was going to do well.

ohohohohohohoho! Certified by google translate, that's whomst.

1:34 AM
should i ping you when i get something hilarious from my wikipedia google translate nonsense?

Please! I won't feel obligated to reply every time but these gems
are like fun surprises around the next corner.

alright, will do :)

Butter kitty up there has naturally goth eye and lip liner because kitty daddy was a pure black.

"butter kitty" lol

But like every goth i've met, Butter likes to sneak up behind me and lick my unwashed hair.
Butter buddy.

1:37 AM
how many goths have you met though?

Worked with two. Met some others. Scary to see but purrrry to know.

hehehe

Actually, Butter Honey is the only who sneaks up on my mop.
The humans referred to above did the same figuratively while i did likewise.

.replace(/human/g, "humn");

sed with a smile, no doubt

1:41 AM
$\ddot\smile$

(oh, just realized, you might not be referring to "sed")

nope. javascript
closest thing i have to unix is my chromebook

k e r n i n g makes your c l o s e s t look like d o s e s t

yes
there's a whole subreddit dedicated to bad kerning
R/KEMING

!!!!!

1:43 AM

uh a hahahahahahahahahahahaha!

is it as funny as wikipedia|google translate nonsense?

it come think of to, dyslexia is mostly negative kerning
overstrike! learn something new every day! on a better than average day.

yes
---like this---

@m_____t, how did you change your SE-issue iconym's colr?

1:48 AM
?
matt is green, merrybot is yellow

I don't remember your icon as being such a honeydew melon colr

but matt and merrybot are the same person
@humn always has been

@m_______t

:p

@mandelbot

1:50 AM
m(at|errybo)t
also, is it bad if i have star trek music stuck in my head

only if you don't plop it here too
or is the one from before?

a different star trek music

that was a medley
(headphones on)

i'd link it except you dont want me to

You definitely have me mistaken for someone who doesn't want you to

(4 minute listening break, complete with cello!)

i must leave now
keep being a great humn :)
but i might come back soon

Best right back at you
Best of all possible worlds that is, not always the best imaginable.
. . .
^ (complete with cello!)
. . .
v don't forget that YouTube allows time dilation v

2:19 AM
@humn time dilation???

^ i just can't get enough of YouTube's speed x {.25, . . . , normal, . . ., 2.0} feature
Some long songs are better sped up than skipped.
Watching news at 2.0 x nomnal (that's "n o r m a l" kerned badly or "n o m I n a l" without the self)
has sped up my speaking to an annoying extent.
One of these days scientists will discover why we speak more slowly than we hear.
(phone rings)

2:42 AM
(rone phings)
and now i am waiting for my soup to finish heating
i dont even know which soup it is - i asked my dad to just pick a random soup thingy
nmuh@
also i just hit the 170 page mark

3:16 AM
(and the cone phonversation will continue in a few minutes)
█ for the uncut version: \rule
^@m_whatno_t , along with 170 pages?! Whether or not you're going for 789, i hope you'll be satisfied if even 1 or fewer pages make any sense.
(789 = 780 interpreted in a way to look like i have a guess as to why 780)
You know, @m_____t, the race is on between your manuscript and the deterioration of public record.
Every day wiki source material becomes more objectionable while machine translators more ambitiously,
it seems, become more gutteral.
It'll get to the point where you can't even find a silk purse. Even if you do it'll be translated into a sow's ear.

3:35 AM
hehe
current total page estimate: ~950

Now i have to come up with a new guess. Or just start betting on the number.
Still, @merrybot, if you haven't used \rule, it works in text mode and can make a lot of useful blacked out shapes.
Then again, i'd worry if the number of pages goes much beyond 8 billion:
"The Nine Billion Names of God" is a 1953 science fiction short story by British writer Arthur C. Clarke. The story was among the stories selected in 1970 by the Science Fiction Writers of America as one of the best science fiction short stories published before the creation of the Nebula Awards. It was reprinted in The Science Fiction Hall of Fame, Volume One, 1929–1964. == Plot summary == In a Tibetan lamasery, the monks seek to list all of the names of God. They believe the Universe was created for this purpose, and that once this naming is completed, God will bring the Universe to an end....

@humn place your bet
oops double ping

edit-ping!

also, i dont think itll reach 8 billion anytime soon

whew

3:42 AM
also i am 17.5% done with it
idk why that's a milestone but ... y'know ....
also #3: not using \rule b/c laziness :p

@merrybot , 99% of Wackypedia (spelling? too lazy to click over) has never been touched by hman hands!

(re: spelling) i dont have a title; "wackypedia" and "wikipukia" are both existing things
if you have a title suggestion feel free to let me know :)

"wikipukia" is fun to say ad nauseam
but your manuscript, technically speaking, is not simple regurgitation

the only reason that was a title is because i'd gotten "wikipedia, the free puke" out of google translate
puke means "book" in hawaiian

ooooo

3:48 AM
and it's pronounced "poo-kay"

(ah, about poo-kay) . . . and i was thinking of rumination more that regurgitation

hm

Your book shows what happens when Google translate chews Wikipedia's cud
but chewing cud does involve regurgitation, iteratively.

thats one way to say it
i guess i like to call it "death by bad linguistics"

burrrrp

3:50 AM
ew
:p

Some books have multiple subtitles

... how do books have subtitle?s

(happen to be tickling my publishing funny bone on purpose?)

(maybe)
(maybe not)

In \LaTeX, it's an optional field in \title

3:52 AM
ohhh right
i already have a subtitle
\subtitle{part: 1: painters}

? ...?
painters as in a picture mistranslates a thousands words?

painters, as in the original wikipedia articles were all about painters
*are

You *are an inspired purist!

but this is only part 1
i have a bunch other parts planned

I understand. Otherwise it would have a different number.

3:55 AM
different number? it's just how i ordered them

this book is downright existential
while emergent

thanks? i think?
google translate is quite meta sometimes:
> These will be thoroughly scrutinized in the version which foretells the cleansing of the scripts of its translation thoroughly.

(I'm playing it down. I spent decades seeing the most creative persons typeset books on linguistics among others topics, in \LaTeX, and thank you for bringing that into the present tense.)

you're welcohumn

Thank you for being a creative person typesetting a book in \LaTeX

4:00 AM
> you're welcohumn

I heard a pre-echo

hm
which is the real echo?

I want @manshu to see that "which is the real echo?"

to see what?

^ edit above

4:02 AM
hm
> Last seen Nov 18 at 13:24

I will not look that up, if you give more context,,, or else

it's when manshu was last seen on Puzzling

manshu helped create the site!

[pronoun] did? thats amazing

"create" in the sense of early on influencing it to be more tolerant, most important, along with being less grimly focused

4:06 AM
i see

[expected chone pall,,, bye for now]

4:24 AM
see you in the future, humn :)

3 hours later…
7:01 AM
A protest song about the present of the past:
^ as led by bass guitar
truly, the first third of verses are introduced by bass with wonder voice and wondest guitar in tow
. . . "Starship Trooper" = airplane force
(Heard a radio interview. This and the next protest today's wars at the time.)

7:28 AM
Household hint: Recordings have been mixed for headphones by headphones as long as headphones.
So either become a headphone or experiment with remixing.
^ in other words "Yours Is No Disgrace" is worth playing loudly on both open air and both earphones. The guitar nonuplets mist my eyes (thanks, ears) and bruise my thighs (any drum in a musical storm).
. . .
bonus, based on the first three bars, Yes track:

8:02 AM
. . .
No need to watch. Close however many eyes you have and listen:

12 hours later…
7:35 PM
currently listening to a backwards piano version of star trek discovery
you wont find it on youtube, though, b/c i just took some piano stuff and reversed the audio file
also, i dont have a piano
