I choose to be excited about this, and I have enjoyed most of this season.
woo hoo!!

@ILoveYou3000 What if Arya can't be killed because she has been blessed by the God of death?
What if Jon can't be killed because what is dead may never die but comes back again harder and stronger?

Q: Did the queen allow Jon to visit Tyrion?

JJJIn S08E06 we see Jon visit Tyrion It seems the guards do allow him into the room as Jon hands his sword over to them. Knowing Tyrion, it's not far-fetched that he'd try to talk Jon into things. Hence my question, did Queen Daenerys allow the visit?

Q: Why did Samwell Tarly have a vote?

JJJIn S08E06, we see the lords of Westeros One of the first to exclaim their vote was Samwell. Why was he allowed to vote? Why did he have a seat at the 'table'? As far as I know he is not a lord nor a lady.

Q: Is there still a Night's Watch?

JJJIn S08E03, In S08E06, we see that Jon is Does the Night's Watch still exist? If so, what is their purpose now? The dead are gone and the people north of where the wall used to be (the Free Folk) are Jon's friends.

0
Q: Has the wall been repaired?

JJJAt the end of season 7 we saw the Night King's army destroy (at least part of) the wall. At the end of S08E06, we see Jon go north of the wall. In those final shots, the wall seems to be intact. Has it been repaired? Why is there no visible damage?

Knock Knock
I liked the ending. Not their best episode, but far from the worst.
I just knew that the Nissa Nissa/Azor Ahai thing was going to bear fruit.

Did Bran become the all-seeing lord of Westeros as I thought he would?

He did.

As I expected...police state Westeros is now a reality.

Want the whole epilogue?

3:16 AM
@Jolenealaska I don't even watch the series, I just can't avoid it because whenever I open my food delivery app, a dragon flies over it.

heehee

Also because the site is about 50% Game of Thrones questions recently.

Of course it is. It's the end of an era.
I can now get on with my life.

Mmmmmm. I am so into fantasy but I never got into Game of Thrones. I have picked up a working knowledge from all these questions, though.
Anyway no more rebellions now that Bran is in charge.
He sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake. He's knows when you've been bad or good so be good for goodness's sake.
@Jolenealaska What was that then?

I loved how even total non-nerds were into it. It's like they got in touch with an inner nerd they never knew they had.

3:21 AM
Who was the real Azor Ahai?

It is part of the lore surrounding Lightbreaker, and the Prince Who Was Promised (Azor Ahai). The sword was finally tempered by TWWP thrusting it into the heart of his beloved wife.
Lightbringer is the sword.

@Jolenealaska I have heard that. So Jon Snow is Azor Ahai?
And Daenerys is Nissa Nissa?

Lightbringer means Lucifer, BTW.
Yes and Yes

@Jolenealaska And I beheld Satan as he fell from heaven, like lightning.

Reminding me of that evil Batman scene that was waaaay too contrived.

3:25 AM
Which evil Batman?

Oh yeah, you haven't seen it.

Is that something from Game of Thrones?

I'm sure there's already a meme.

Is Batman in there? Is that like the coffee cup?

Heehee
sort of!
No
There is a scene in the final episode where Dany is doing the total Evil Queen/1984/Comic book villian thing.
She's wearing black
The formations are doing their thing

3:30 AM
Imperial March style?

And the dragon holds a pose behind her, appearing as the wings of Dany.
@Adamant Yes, that too

@Jolenealaska Is that why people thought she was going to turn into a dragon? omg that was worse than the Antman theory.

And the pose was too perfectly lined up, and held too long. It belonged in a superhero film.
It wasn't meant to look real
I'll post a screenshot
hold on

Does Westeros have normal seasons now that the Night King is dead?

We don't know.
I don't think the seasons were mentioned all season.
The one thing about the last episode that I really didn't like (I was mostly in agreement with the internet mob on this one) was that Dany's transformation to full-on needs-to-die-ASAP evil-mad-queen felt too abrupt.
It makes a lot more sense now.
She was always going to be the absolute ruler of the world, she was just putting a nice spin on it when it was expedient to do so.
Evil tyrannical Dany is closer to her real self than Breaker of Chains was.
She had a line last episode about fear and love. Love is hard to find here? Ok. Ain't no thing. Fear it is then.
<proceeds to turn a living city into Pompeii>

3:59 AM
I suppose that people who think they need to conquer the world for its own good rarely turn out to be pleasant people.

"for its own good" is exactly the thing she used.

People convinced of their own self-righteousness are rarely good people

What I have heard is that she always wanted to rule Westeros because she saw it as her birthright, not because Cersei or Joffrey or whoever needed to go. We are dealing with a different culture, but psychology hasn't changed that much.

From my perch, the Trump metaphors came through loud and clear.

Anu7Its established that Bran can do the following things: Warging, Greensighting (seeing past and present), being a three-eyed raven. @Aegon why chosse, and not have all of them?

@Kepotx You are a wise man, you should be the King of Westeros

yeah, become king with one vote
guess it's democratic
i wonder what bran can do with his power as a king

Sansa: I know what he can't do. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I mean, the last Brandon with superpowers built the wall, winterfell, storm's end, oldtown lighthouse...
Bran: I know what she can do. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
but now i want the spinoff of Arrrrrya the pirate, and jon and his good boi

GRRM would love to ask D&D that

"great council" part, maybe

i mean, he IS the true heir

@Kepotx They stabbed the true heir

@Aegon madness for sure, even if much more progressive

and stabby stabby thing, dunno
i don't see jon/dany romance at all

@Kepotx I'll be heart-broken if that happens. I made my peace with Jon killing her as his Nissa Nissa long ago.....But this? Idk

well, by real order, Jon>Dany>Gendry

It will probably be the only thing in the series that really breaks my heart

but Jon is just a STark snow, the aegon thing is a fake news
so, Dany>Gendre
no dany: only gendry left...

11:02 AM

Renewed the oath?

renewed it, as a compromise

Oh so he was tried as a Kingslayer?
Well Queenslayer?

if you ask i guess you havn't see the episode but don't mind the spoilers?

11:07 AM
Yup
Lay it on me

jon stabs dany, drogon come and see dany stabbed, look at jon, prepare to breath fire, but melt the iron throne instead of jon
then, drogon take dany and go far away
after that, we saw grey worm and a small council discussing about jon's fate
GW want jon dead, Starks want him free
as a compromised, he is sent to NW
but he didn't stay at castle black, and instead go to true north with wildlings and ghost

Lol
And he automatically became the Lord Commander?

(TL;DR: He finnaly pet the dog)

What about the other two guys and that 1 doggo that was already on the wall?

we don't even know

11:11 AM
Don't they have like seniority or something

Brienne is the commander of kingsguard however

I like how he melts the throne. "If mommy doesn't get to sit on it, none of you t**s do either. No Targaryen, no Iron throne. Bring your own chairs"

not explicitely said, but she write things about jaime in the white book

Bran: "I HAVE GOT A CHAIR"
"Well we must make this guy King. Long had he foreseen the melting of the throne"

yup. Drogon just melt a ramp so he can climb the stairs

11:13 AM
@Kepotx I guess there's no point in getting angry about that since they already made her a knight.

You guys might hate me for it but personally I have never cared much for Brienne. She is judgemental and has this holier than thou aura. And she really is holier than every one else which makes her even more annoying

not gonna hate you for that, but i really like brienne/jaime arc
oh, and beside "we kinda forgot about gendry"
unsullied will go to Naath
because dany wanna break the wheel everywere, not jus westeros
1: no wheel to break, they are just vegan/hippy/pacifist

What are they gonna do? Burn down their cities and proclaim "You are being liberated, please do not resist"

2: they kinda forgot butterflies
well, if they didn't resist for razzia, pillage and enslavement, would they for being liberated?

And is that a throne? We will be taking that and burning it off, thank you very much
Over all though, would you rate the episode as:

1. Great
2. Satisfying
3. Expected
4. Disappointing
5. Lol same ol' c**p

3 I guess
much less disapointing/frustrating than 3/4/5 with quite some big plot holes and lore breaks
lot of expecting things
and i will be more kindly to a finale
I mean, everyone had his own thinking of how it would end, hard to make evryone happy
this season was the worst ever, but the finale is not the worst from this season
and as always, great acotrs, great music, great scenes

Well given that they probably just worked backwards from the ending that they were given, that makes sense
PS: I think Daenerys is Jenny
The reason they decided to add that song

Q: How Jon's hierarchy matters?

NitwitIn S8 the audience come to this realization that probably because of Tyrion's pep talk. especially when he says: one can say that's why. he was scared of being killed. but isn't the righteousness of Jon and enough to do that? was the hierarchy plot necessary at all?

Jenny would dance with her ghosts (An ashen and flaming sort of dance, she has no lack of ghosts)

The ones she'd found (Viserys, Drogo, Rhaego, that little girl in Meereen, Rhaegel, Viserion)

the ones that loved her the most (Barristan Selmy, Jorah Mormont, Missandei)

The ones who'd been gone for so very long, she couldn't remember their names (Every Targaryen from Aenar the Exile down to Viserys, the weight of restoring their legacy resting on her)

2:58 PM
It makes a lot of sense for Bran to be king.
2
If he weren't he'd just become the power behind the throne, so they might as well make it explicit.
A good king needs to be a fair arbiter. When someone asks Bran to resolve their dispute he'll know exactly who is telling the truth.
They also need to be a strong military leader. Bran would see troop movements days before another ruler would, could spy on the enemies' councils, and so forth.
They need to keep control of the nobles. Who would even dare say a word about rebelling against Bran at any time?

With some competent advisers to help him decide what to do with the information he could easily be a very good ruler, as absolute rulers go.

3:31 PM
In the showverse, that would hold true. But Once he dies, what then?
He's certainly not going to procreate
So Sansa stands next in line
And North becomes part of the realm once again
In the books, Bran is technically pretty much a god
Much greater than petty kings and queens

In reality though won't Bran live for ages? The 3ER before him notes about waiting for him for a thousand years

Well Brynden wasn't exactly himself was he?
He became part of the woods
And that sustained him, like a tree

@TheLethalCarrot maybe only in the north
cold preserve body

Could be something like Aemon said, "The ice preserves, fire consumes"

and woods

3:39 PM
Plus the whole idea that Bran can change the future, the present and the past makes the whole show utterly pointless
What's the whole point? Just let Bran deal with it
Much better done in the books
"A man must know how to look before he can hope to see," said Lord Brynden. "Those were shadows of days past that you saw, Bran. You were looking through the eyes of the heart tree in your godswood. Time is different for a tree than for a man. Sun and soil and water, these are the things a weirwood understands, not days and years and centuries. For men, time is a river. We are trapped in its flow, hurtling from past to present, always in the same direction. The lives of trees are different. They root and grow and die in one place, and that river does not move them. The oak is the acorn, the

still, seing the past/present is powerful

@Kepotx The Ghost of High heart can see the past and the present
Don't see her playing a powerful role
Or them clamouring up to proclaim her their queen

@Aegon That's their problem then.

I didn't meant to say that you need to be king if you got power

Why wouldn't Arya just ask Bran what's in the West? The dude knows everything presumably.

All hail patch face, ruler of the seven kingdoms otherwise

Why would Bran need a master of whispers? The dude is all knowing

Just that if you happen to be king, having powers can help you
Because he see what men see, or what weirwood see
So, without a proper host, he can't do much
At least that's how I see it

And finally - how on Earth could the execs at HBO allow the screenwriters to have such an ending... I hope they learn and fire the screenwriters the second they they misstep
not let them run the show into the ground
@Kepotx well, there's presumably men west of westeros

Q: Why did Drogon spare this character?

Lee-ann Macatangay ZamoranosIn the Finale, Drogon saw and seemed to understand what happened. But still he didn’t even harm Jon Snow for what he’s done. Why?

Q: Why did Bronn get this position?

BalistaWhy is Bronn I understand he became a Lord since Tyrion promised that to him, and so let's just assume Tyrion's word is bond or whatever, but he was never promised the role of In fact, he has no apparent skills that suggest he's good at that particular job because because he's just n...

Q: How Much Did Game of Thrones Cost to Produce, in Total?

Upper_CaseGame of Thrones has been a massively popular, highly polished production for nearly a decade. Now that the entire show is done (and presumably all production has been definitively billed), I'm curious about the total cost of its production. A teaser trailer for the behind-the-scenes documentary a...

@JonathanReez Men have crossed the sea from the West if certain Maesters' books can be believed
Ironborn may be descendants of those settlers from the West
Which explains why their culture and religion is vastly different than the First men and Andals

Q: Did the Three-Eyed Raven have a long-standing plan relating to Westeros?

BehacadIn S08E06 of Game of Thrones we learn that It seems that he at least somewhat expected this to happen based on his line, "why do you think I came all this way". One interpretation is that Bran became what was necessary and tried his best to save Westeros, and follow through in his new po...

Q: What will bind the kingdoms together now?

ThatOneGuy789In the Game of Thrones finale, we see However, with an era of peace on the horizon and with there doesn't appear to be any power exclusively behind the monarchy. It makes sense for some of the weaker Lords to agree to a ruling monarch, but a few of the Lords have formidable standing armies...

Q: Why not ask Bran what's west of Westeros?

JonathanReezIn Game of Thrones, it is shown that the Three eyed Raven (aka Bran) is capable of seeing the past through the eyes of any person in the human history. So why couldn't Arya simply ask Bran what's "west of Westeros" instead of sailing into the unknown? Surely Bran could relegate the story of every...

Q: Why this character is punished instead of being honoured?

MysterryIn the final episode of Game of Thrones, a pivoting moment resides in I don't understand how the Council made up by the remaining Lords & Ladies was so merciful with Tyrion and so harsh for Jon Snow. First, it seems that Grey Worm and the Unsullied (which for some reason have not executed th...

Q: Does the GoT TV series ever refer to 'The Great Council'?

JJJIn Game of Thrones' S08E06, we see Bran elected king in what seems like an unprecedented event. Taking into account the books, elections have happened before in the form of The Great Council. Does the TV series ever refer to those?

Q: Why did the Game of Thrones writers have so much influence over how fast the show ended?

JonathanReezAccording to an interview with Game of Thrones writers: BENIOFF: HBO would have been happy for the show to keep going, to have more episodes in the final season. We always believed it was about 73 hours, and it will be roughly that. As much as they wanted more, they understood that this is wh...

Q: How much latitude does Martin have to change the resolution of Game of Thrones?

tbrooksideA Song of Ice and Fire isn't completed yet in print. I've Googled a bit, but can't determine if Martin is somehow contractually obligated to complete the books in a manner consistent with the conclusion of the television show. I have seen published comments that at least some events shown in th...

Q: On what ground did Sansa say this in S08E06?

BruceWayneIn the Game of Thrones finale, Sansa's Uncle Edmure Tully began making a speech and I understand that he was likely making a speech as to why he should be elected to be the King. However, Sansa interrupts him and says: Uncle, please sit. After which he embarrassingly and dejectedly sits do...
