Q: What was the name of the person that was Aria's first kill?

Binyamin RegevIt was in S1 in the episode when Ned Stark is arrested and guards are sent to take Aria from her "dance" class. Her teacher fights them and dies, Aria escapes and doesn't go to their residence, she finds the cart that should carry their crates and her crate lay on the ground opened. Aria takes pu...

@BaeltheBard the research was an interesting challenge. "Can I post a high quality answer to a question about a universe that I have never read/watched anything in?"
Having an online resource to search through certainly does help though ;)

Q: Are John Snow and Denerys Targerian related?

poozaDenerys is a true born Targerian, but in the last season Jon Snow happened to be the son of Rheagar Targerian and Lynna Stark. So he becomes the hair to the throne also. My question is how these two Targerians are related?!

Sorry, @TheLethalCarrot - FGITW strikes again! Yours shows a greater familiarity with the books and show - tossed you an upvote ;). But the HNQ crowd seems to prefer my answer (which may have to do with it being accepted).

9:28 PM
@Mithrandir when I upboated they were both sitting on +4

Now mine's at +11, and TLC's is at +7.
I enjoy the challenge of finding an answer to a question on a topic I know nothing about, but sometimes other people provide better answers :p

Do you consider it successful if someone else provides a better answer? Surely you only succeed when the answer on a topic you know nothing about is the best answer?

It wasn't unsuccessful - the score and checkmark affirm that. It just wasn't as successful as it could have been :|

Funny way to think that on SE the checkmark affirms anything other than the OP's thoughts.

Well given you'd gotten the complete wrong continuity, I'd hardly say it was successful, merely fortunately received.

9:37 PM
@Möoz well sure. But at least it was good to one person ;)
@Edlothiad hey, I mentioned the show as well! :P

Passing comments don't constitute an answer

I wouldn't call it a 'passing comment'; it was a (admittedly terse) whole paragraph ;)

Having a paragraph to itself doesn't alter it's state as a passing comment.

Okay, sure, fine, call it a passing comment. It's still there, it's not like it's not there.

How tf did my random IPS question hit HNQ... I'm not sure I like this. Now I have to at least pay some attention to it beyond accepting an answer.

9:45 PM
@amflare protip: almost every single IPS question hits HNQ.

@Mithrandir I think the issue is that you hopped-in to ride the HNQ wave. Which would be fine, but it looks like you've popped-into here to gloat about it.
@Mithrandir This.

really? Isn't there supposed to be a per-site throttle?

@amflare 5

@Möoz no, I popped in here to say that TLC provided a better answer. While I enjoyed the challenge, and was not unsatisfied with my answer, TLC gave a better answer, and that's what I came in here to say.
@amflare I think ten...
Let me rephrase that. Half the IPS questions get closed. The half that don't all become HNQ :P
@Möoz anyway, sorry if I gave the wrong impression
My interpersonal skills can be, uh, lacking.
So, just to restate...
I'd like to say that I think that while I'm not unsatisfied with my answer to the question about Arya, @TheLethalCarrot provided a better answer than mine, displaying a much higher level of familiarity and knowledge of the universe in question. While my answer is leading by score, thanks to the HNQ, it should be the other way around.
I enjoyed the challenge of researching an answer, but you can't really beat an intimate knowledge of the universe.
And I've now added A Song of Ice and Fire: A Game of Thrones to my list of books to read. We'll see how long it takes to actually get it ;)
@Mithrandir (is this clearer, @Möoz?)

10:06 PM
@Mithrandir 30s, it’s called the internet.

@Edlothiad I prefer not to use pirated versions - they're more likely to have malware and stuff attached to it.
That's not to say that I won't use the occasional PDF, but I don't like that as a permanent solution :P
