SFC is the System File Checker, verifies the files with the installation CD to make sure all the Windows files are OK. I'd like if I could do an Archive and Install, but the install tells me I can't install to that volume. It's a customer's machine, not mine

For that class of iMac, which can take up to 16 GB memory, it's probably easier and cheaper to get Mountain Lion.
