@jtbandes I'm not familiar with history (if any) of the rules but I do vaguely recall someone here in chat mentioning CW in connection with the challenge. Memorable because the expression CW meant nothing to me, and I had to ask what was meant by the letters.

@patrix yeah, that's an obscure question (and I don't like answering my own questions as often as I have recently) but it's something that's niggled me for the past year or so. I'd like to be accurate.

Vaguely related, something under Apple's Autosaving in Place Differs From Autosaving Elsewhere implies that for an explicitly saved document, subsequent autosaves elsewhere are next to the explicitly saved document.

I never noticed any adjacency to autosaved data, so that paragraph from Apple seems weird to me.

@GrahamPerrin I'm really unsure whether this question is in line with the FAQ. Most probably nobody outside Apple will be able to answer it and even then: what do we do with the answer? At the end, all that counts is the implementation

@stuffe It's my only choice actually. Keyboard and MM I already have, a Superdrive I don't need. But I've been curious for quite some time now how a trackpad works with a desktop machine anyway so I'm looking forward to give it a try.

@jrg In the case of most apps I would say, 'Great! Now it'll be expanded and improved faster.' But in the case of TextMate it seems more likely that it will just be abandoned :(

That said, Chocolat is out of beta and very nice, so I'm pretty much okay with ^.

@NathanGreenstein Interesting. I haven't used TextMate in ages, but back in the day is was a lot better than the competition.

The big thing about ST2 isn't that it's good - it's that it's cross platform.

ST2 does look pretty powerful. Nice multicursor stuff and great keyboard controls.

Planning to try it out soon.

And yes, it would be nice to have a good editor that I'm comfortable with when I have to use Windows/Linux

(I mean, it is good - but that isn't really what makes it popular in my opinion)

It's the first (as far as I've seen, at least) Linux-compatible editor that's powerful and has a decent UI.

(No offense to other Linux editors, I just haven't found them as polished)
