@bmike Ok. If I do become a mod, I will definitely have to consider all of this. I think I may take the first couple weeks to learn and not use my moderating powers until I am more comfortable.
@bmike How long can those breaks last? If we are inactive for a couple months will we be removed? A year? How lenient is everyone?

The election process handles all the getting acquainted with the job parts
since we are volunteers, it’s really about the site being in decent hands.
I’ve never seen someone removed for taking a break - I’ve only seen people decide to step down

Ok.
Thanks for answering my questions!
I am still really concerned about how long this community (and SE in general) is going to last.

I trust there is some coincidence and a lot of turnover, I also know the people involved are super smart, even the ones remaining and most companies have this every 18 months. It’s a testament to how open this place is that everyone gets to see it. There’s no guarantee everything will work out and I know things won’t work out for many individuals as they reassess where their energy needs to be next 2+ years.
This whole drama will play out over the next 6 months or perhaps longer as actions start to show who is running things and not what is being said or who is being reined in or just patient / waiting.

@bmike @bmike - just ran across this.. it really doesn't have anything to do with bluetooth per se, it's the DAC and the volume circuitry built into the BT device that's the problem.
BT audio is just data packets of sound - there's no volume. There is however, the "sound level" where it was recorded and converted to digital. Think of it as line output of your turn table or CD player - there's no volume. To get volume, you go into a pre-amp and then an amplifier to get it to speaker level.
If the sound is "clipped" as it leaves the source, it will be clipped when it leaves the speakers (and vice versa). If the amp is horrible and you can't crank the volume, what comes out of the speakers will show. It's the same thing on the digital side of things if the DAC and the volume circuitry are horrible, there's nothing you can do.
