@grgarside thanks. I can't see a chat profile at apple.stackexchange.com/users/25598/mark-adler so I took the URL of your chat profile and overtyped with the Ask Different user ID number of Mark Adler but clearly, chat.stackexchange.com/users/25598/mark-adler is not Mark Adler.
Then I realised that the user ID number is not unique (at stackexchange.com/users/1136690/mark-adler it's different) so I tried chat.stackexchange.com/users/1136690/mark-adler but that's not found. Does that mean that Mark has never chatted?

Does any part of a person's network profile show whether that person has a chat profile?
stackexchange.com/users/1686675/grgarside for example. Unless I'm missing something, I can't find a route from there to George's chat profile (and chat.stackexchange.com/faq does not advise on this point).

Hi @bmike -- Yeah I know, likely best for me to break it up into different questions or maybe to just retarget the original. Bottom line, I just want to make certain I have reliable HDs that I can access. Looks like I can just pull out the RAID card and reformat all the drives (if I can find a boot disk ;-(, but given all that trouble, I'll have to weigh my options. -- Thx
