@anongoodnurse Regarding bed-wetting and enuresis, I feel I'm out of my depth. The way I understand it, enuresis occurs at an age when children usually can control their bladder, around age 4. Looking at the questions tagged bed-wetting, there are some about much younger children, e. g. one is 2 years old. Would tag enuresis make sense in such cases? I've been reluctant to edit such questions so far.

@AnneDaunted Gosh, that's a good question. I've never seen the term enuresis applied to a situation below the age of five either, and a quick look at the literature (the general literature, like treatment options) shows that attempts to treat don't begin before age 5.

@AnneDaunted - OK, to make matters worse, there are several definitions used for enuresis. One of the most popular is the ICCS:The International Children's Continence Society has developed standardized terminology for lower urinary tract function and malfunction in children [1].

Enuresis (synonymous with intermittent nocturnal incontinence) refers to discrete episodes of urinary incontinence during sleep in children ≥5 years of age [1].

Before then, it's referred to as urinary incontinence, or bed wetting. :(

Technically, I guess babies are incontinent, but that's hardly a disorder in babies.

An option would be to phrase the tag wikis accordingly, i. e. that enuresis is only for older children and bed-wetting for younger.

(Oh, the ICCS does take note of diurnal enuresis as well...)

And then decide on a case-by-case basis, especially with children around age 4 or 5

People may or may not follow the description of the tag. That's not possible to control.

Speaking of tag wikis, what I liked and wanted to mention here

On MSE there is a deprecated tag delete when instead more precise tags should be used (vote-to-delete, [deleted-questions] etc.).

@AnneDaunted You lost me on "deprecated tag"... :-/

Its tag wiki says "DO NOT USE THIS TAG! Please use a specific tag instead, such as [deleted-questions], [deleted-accounts] or [vote-to-delete]."

I'm not sure of the utility on this site (MSE is, like, a thousand times more active?)

This may be useful in some cases when burninating the tag may take some time

But I certainly don'tobject to specificity in tags.

I'm fine with it, then.

In some special cases, some others have been burninated. But it might have been useful, e. g. for parenting

baby is also a candidate - I'm not sure it has much use (not when the exact age is known, anyway) even if age is unknown. I guess people use it because they have to tag their question and this one is kind of obvious

Yeah, there is a difference between newborn, infant, baby, toddler, preschooler...

But who is going to know that? Not a lot of people.

I do understand the new users. It's not that easy to wade through all those tags

My younger dog thinks it's unreasonable of me to want to be in bed still at this hour (10:14 am here). What's wrong with him?

You probably have a particular breed, my son was educating me on them. I just thought they were "cats". If they have an "M" on their forehead, that's a specific breed, etc.

She's 17 or 18 so likes a snooze

We have had cats for 30 years or so, and will get a dog again once we have time... Just no time currently

Cats cope well with that. Dogs need much more attention.
