Is there any reason tag would ever be on topic here? I offered a Suggested edit

@BeastOfCaerbannog Thanks again for this! The issue is being investigated and hopefully a resolution in a week or so...
@stumblebee Yes, there is. It can be used, for example, for issues on dual-boot Ubuntu-Kali systems. It serves the same purpose as tags about Mint, Debian, etc. There is this Meta post about the tag, but the same applies to Kali and other distros' tags:

Q: Let's burninate [mint]

You'reAGitForNotUsingGitIf Linux Mint is off topic, why the heck do we have the tag mint? How does it help to tag Ubuntu questions with it? This user wrongly assumed Mint was on topic due to the existence of said tag: https://askubuntu.com/questions/777322/mount-no-such-file-or-directory-with-encrypted-recovery Burninat...

I rejected your tag excerpt edit though (sorry...). The main reason is that the grammar is not correct. The verb "are" in the original tag excerpt refers to "Questions", not to "Kali Linux", so it should be in plural. Changing it to "is" is not correct.
The secondary reason is that tag excerpts do not support Markdown, they are just pure text, so you cannot have any formatting, such as bold text, links, etc. So while converting "Unix & Linux Q&A" to "Unix & Linux Q&A" seems a good idea at first, it actually makes things worse, because it's harder to read and doesn't really offer a benefit.
Keep in mind, however, that you can use Markdown formatting in the main body of the tag wiki. The limitation is only for the excerpt.
@andrew.46 Anytime! :)
@BeastOfCaerbannog These tags also serve the purpose of signposts for users of unsupported distros, so we can more easily identify and close OT questions. ;)

:66080945 Hmmm... Seems a bit opinion-based...
@BeastOfCaerbannog ok, how to change it and what is opinionbased?
@amar Opinion-based means that the question cannot be objectively answered but anyone may have a different opinion about what to do. For example, if someone asks "what is the best way to install Ubuntu", this is an opinion-based question, since "best" depends on each user's needs and requirements.
In the case of your question, if there is anything missed depends on your personal needs, and no one except from you know what these needs are.
To make it on-topic you must clearly state the problem you need to address in a way that it can accept an objective answer.
@BeastOfCaerbannog ah I see, I thought I made it general, shall I remove it?
I actually askrd that for my info, to learn more of the problems that people face
10:00 AM
@amar I cannot think of a way that it can be made non opinion-based, so yeah, I think it should be deleted.
Or you can just leave it there and see how it goes, most likely it will get closed though.
nah I just deleted it, but I still do not fully understand why? There is no such topic and everybody has to go through a maze of searching to maybe find out the answer
10:27 AM
@BeastOfCaerbannog Ah I think I may understand what was wrong, If I have simply asked What is the best way to upgrade, and kept my mouth shut :) it would have gotten a few answers, correct?
[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Blacklisted website in answer, potentially bad asn for hostname in answer, potentially bad keyword in username (96): Tally ERP 9 is very slow on Ubuntu‭ by spammer‭ on askubuntu.com
@amar Nah, I don't think so. The "best" would make it even more opinion-based.

@Natty tp
@BeastOfCaerbannog Ok, how about this , "I will upgrade august 15, what do you suggest I do to not have problems." That's it the whole question
@amar Still opinion-based and also maybe OT as being about an unreleased version.
The most probable answer in any case would be to try it in a spare machine, or in a virtual one, or using a live USB to ensure that it works.
Have you encountered any issued in the past?
Maybe you can ask your questions in Ask Ubuntu General Room instead of the main site.
12:05 PM
@BeastOfCaerbannog nah, It was not important, I was thinking how do you create a question that has many answers like askubuntu.com/questions/162075/… or may be I'm wrong and it was moderators who converged many answers to one question?
1:04 PM
@amar Well, this question is a "canonical" one, but you should also observe that it was created 12 years ago, at the early days of AU. At that time many things were not yet standardized, so the question was okay back then. If you would ask the same question today, it would most likely get closed as unclear (because it lacks version and system details) or as needing more focus.
Canonical questions can still be created today, but it's not so easy and requires good knowledge of the site workings and what already exists as Q&A. So keep hanging around working on Qs and As and edits and you shall soon gain enough experience to make useful Q&As that may evolve to canonical questions.

@BeastOfCaerbannog Thank you for the info.
@amar You're welcome!

@Natty tp
@amar You know, I think that if you make your question "I'm planning to upgrade to Ubuntu 24.04.1 when it's out. How can I minimize potential problems due to the upgrade?" (or something like that) and then put the lists you had in your question in an answer, it could be an acceptable Q&A.
