@cocomac I've failed numerous audits, and the first couple were from actual carelessness, but in the case of most of them, I failed doing an action I still wanted to do after learning it was 'wrong'. From my perspective, this community closes and deletes a lot of salvageable material
I do agree with @BeastOfCaerbannog that that particular question was bad
@Zanna remember, often a question gets VTC because it needs detail.
In that case, it's up to the OP to decide if the question gets closed or remains open - if OP doesn't care and provide more detail, the question should be closed, and not try to be salvaged IMO
I don't see the point in trying to salvage a question that the OP obviously doesn't care about
@ArturMeinild questions on SE sites are not primarily for their askers, but if the question genuinely needs input from the OP to be answered and they aren't interested in providing it there isn't much we can do
@Zanna Exactly - and I think in many cases, questions are unclear or don't provide sufficient information - and this can easily lead to closure if OP doesn't respond to this.
So maybe this was salvageable, but only if OP chooses to interact.
I suspect there are a lot of tags that have been discussed on meta and should be removed but have not been removed
we could collect them and work on them a bit, if anyone is interested
we could keep a list of them and actually try to get it done :)
in relation to tag work, I really like to take the opportunity to clean the posts
so anything that really has no value, we can just delete
I usually look at the unanswered ones first to see what can go
remember unanswered means has no upvoted/accepted answer
our good friend roomba can assist us well - an open or closed as dupe question that has a score of -1 or less will be deleted after some time if it has no answers, and a question that has a score of 0 will be deleted if it has few views*, no answers, and less than 2 comments. Thus, a judicious downvote can do the work of a hammer
*few views - something like no more than 1.5x the number of days since its creation
posts with some value - remember that edits bump the post, so I try to edit everything that needs it on the page in one shot - all the answers too (look for NAAs also). Don't just remove the tag unless there's really nothing else to do
anyway, if nobody is interested in this work ^, that's cool, no probs. I'll be in the installation tag or something.
But if the reason you don't want to do tag work is that the CV queue is clogged or something, please feel free to direct my attention to where it might be useful...
@Zanna I just undeletedan answer from a closed question in the installation tag... this is the best benefit of being able to see deleted posts (the best 10k privilege)
