I don't think that this answer offers something new apart from another PHP version (it's not even the version the OP asked help for). I think it should be deleted (haven't flagged myself, because I'm not totally sure). I also think that the whole thread needs a cleanup.

@Zanna I think it is needed, since the participation is low on the queues. On the other hand, the more experienced users don't seem to participate, so I think that lowering the threshold now could cause more harm than good, by having many wrong closures. It's hopeful though that we have some relatively newer users, like @NotTheDr01ds, @cocomac, @Someone, @mickmackusa, that do a great job in my opinion.

If more users start being active in reviewing, then I believe it would be OK to lower the threshold. I'm not sure if now is the right time to do that.

You would be right to tell me then that till that time the reviews will continue getting invalidated. You can see that I'm confused about that. If you would ask me a year ago, I would be certain that the threshold should be lowered.

@BeastOfCaerbannog It can be "Improved". Since it's removing the 14.04 method, one can improve the edit to re-add the 14.04 method and also add the 20.04 method mentioned in the edit. I'll not do it as I am not on my PC. Maybe someone else can do it.

Well... I am new to this edit queue and I am approving almost all edits like this. I'm not sure why it's a reject, the information is mostly OK.

I would like to give the 3 votes thing a try but I'm concerned it won't be easy to tell if questions are being wrongly closed

no doubt the reviewing community will love a short close vote review queue and perhaps not seeing votes age away, and not struggling to get enough support for reopening

but most of the questions we get are from people who aren't part of that community and who have very little knowledge of the site

@BeastOfCaerbannog Hello. As one of the people you mentioned, thought I'd pitch in. I think it would be good to lower it to three votes. Some of my flags (5%) age away. When I flag something as off-topic (typically because their distro is either EOL or non-Ubuntu), I find that it takes a while for them to be closed. I'd estimate somewhere between eight hours and a day. There are often questions that are off-topic, due to the OP using not-Ubuntu, and there are enough of those, lowering it would be good

and I see no obvious way for users who have the power to reopen wrongly closed questions to come across them

but if correct close votes/flags are aging away, it's a problem

@Zanna I respectfully disagree. AU is the third biggest SE site. Although I don't have numbers here, I don't think random questions getting closed wrongly is an issue. The OP can always edit and put it back, but I think flags aging away is more of a problem than questions getting wrongly closed. For example, here is one that I flagged. It aged away, and is still open 18 days after posting, despite the OP using 14.04.

I think questions staying open due to aging away is a bigger issue than things getting wrongly closed

@cocomac I would rather a question be wrongly left open than wrongly closed. Wrong closures cause distress to the OP and we lose the possible answers as well

Maybe, if we have enough reviews.

We could gather all reviews with a SEDE script and then randomly select a portion of them to check.

The same should be done for reviews with 5 votes too, so we can use that as the standard.
