@RandomPerson The links were already redirecting to the mentioned ones and image was not even required given that the relevant text was also quoted.

The user Activity page is shaping up beautifully! A sidebar was enabled for me today which makes navigation much better than before.

oh you like it!
I find it a downgrade
everything is huge

@someone I edited your meta question. Have a look at it and add back any text that you think that I shouldn't have removed. Please try to avoid superfluous text stylization (bolds, italics, horizontal lines), unless text formatting is really needed, as it makes the post very hard to read and a downvote attractor!
@Zanna Indeed. I hope that they will fix this in a future iteration. I really liked the sidebar, which I think it's an improvement over the previous layout.

@BeastOfCaerbannog I'm not sure I'm getting this sidebar... which element exactly do you mean?

Just a minute, I'll upload a screenshot

@someone just "Improved" your edit suggestion. Please can you use the syntax [![alt-text][1]][1] to make images clickable? On this post it's not a problem, but often it's really helpful/important to be able to click through to a full size image

oh... those buttons were on top of the summary before... I preferred them there I think
a lot of space gets wasted below that bar
which would be less of a problem if there wasn't already a rather useless sitewide left nav bar whose elements used to be more conveniently placed on top

@Zanna I think that there is an issue with the formatting documentation about image embedding. This is how it says that images should be embedded:
I guess this is quite old and needs to be updated.

hmm yeah!

@Zanna It can be disabled in the profile settings though.
The sitewide sidebar I mean

yeah, but then I don't know how to access those things at all

@Zanna I guess by appending "tags", "users", or "unanswered" on the AU URL?
i.e. askubuntu.com/users for Users

2:04 PM
yes... I suppose I should do that...

You can also press "?" on your keyboard, then "g", then select one of the available options

@BeastOfCaerbannog thanks

No problem!

@Zanna okay

disabling the left nav doesn't give any more space to the important stuff though does it? There's still a craptonne of wasted space on the left and the right sidebar moves over
@someone thanks! :)

4:37 PM
@Zanna It seems so.

@BeastOfCaerbannog This documentation can be found in various places. The screenshot above is from the help menu of editing a post: click the "?" icon on the top right of the editing frame and then click Images
A similar documentation is found when posting a new answer, following the same path
For a new question the documentation for embedding images is slightly different:
Finally, the same suggestion for embedding images can be found in the Markdown Editing Help: askubuntu.com/editing-help#images
While adding an image to a post through the respective icon adds it using [![alt text][num]][num], this is nowhere suggested in the documentation
