@BeastOfCaerbannog oh damn, sorry, the queue didn't allow me to vote because I went to visit the post or something
the LQP queue is so touchy
idk if the post is still in it or not
sorry I'm a complete idiot
yeah the review got "invalidated" so it's not in the queue any more
@BeastOfCaerbannog it would still show my vote though, sorry I'm just a fool
@muru sorry, I don't know what you mean

@Zanna see that edit - it looks like a bot. dumping all data -> dumping all statistics? brand new -> company new? O.o
Like that joke from FRIENDS where Joey uses a thesaurus on every word.

4:53 AM
hahaha or that story about a Christian newspaper changing "Tyson Gay" (a sprinter) to "Tyson Homosexual"
so when you said "backed", you meant "hacked" I guess
@Algnis what were you trying to achieve with that edit?

Oh, yes, hacked.

@muru what's really worrying is that someone approved the suggestion o.O

Yep, classic roboreviewing

that person seems to be taking a decent amount of time to do Suggested Edit reviews (above average) and did reject/improve a few haha

1 hour later…
hmm look out for jests from this account

@Zanna Don't worry! :)

:)

I want to also mention an issue I've noticed. The First Questions, First Answers, Late Answers queues have a "Recommend Deletion" option. However, I don't know how this works and if selecting it sends the post to another queue. From what I've noticed, most people that select this option don't take another action, e.g. flag as NAA.

oh... I didn't know they had that option
that's interesting
hmm I also wonder what it does

The problem is that posts in these queues need just a single person to take some action. If the posts aren't sent to another queue, they just get a useless "recommend deletion" vote and nothing else.

maybe they go into the LQP queue

8:25 AM
Maybe, I don't know. But even so, it takes much much longer for the post to be reviewed. I always flag posts, even in the LQP queue and they are handled much faster, usually in less than a couple of hours, by a mod.

yeah
people should really be flagging posts that should be deleted
it's a silly option to have there

Yeah, and "Recommend deletion" suggests that the reviewer has really taken the best action. I mean, "recommend deletion" seems stronger than flagging.

but it surely won't be... it's misleading

Exactly.
Do we need a meta post that suggests that reviewers in the above queues and LQP should also flag an answer if it's NAA, and not only rely in the "recommend deletion"/"deletion" option?

I think so... but also, we should ask for that option to be removed altogether

8:30 AM
Example of a Late answer review
@Zanna Hmmm. I support this!

according to the timeline, it went to LQP immediately after that review was completed

That's something. Does it show my vote in LQP?

no

So it's a useless vote. It could be OK if it was still there.

I had to review myself to have any hope of seeing what happened - my review is the only one listed
@BeastOfCaerbannog yeah... it will take 3 users with 20k to delete from that queue at best - if it doesn't acquire enough delete votes, it takes 6 reviewers (I think)
are there even that many active reviewers?

8:35 AM
@Zanna It would need 5 if my vote was also counted. And since I had already reviewed it, I suppose that it wouldn't come up for me in LQP.
@Zanna I think only @karel and @Pilot6

it's well worth flagging things in the LQP queue btw
2
as a general FYI to anyone reading
they don't necessarily already have flags

8:56 AM
I think there is sufficient information in its linked duplicate question to close vote this question as a dupe

@karel Voted

Reversing the opinions of the previous reviewers I consider this question to be a dupe of the other linked duplicate question.

BTW, the target should be reopened.
@karel Also voted.

@Natty tp
Hello
@Zanna Yes it seems to be a concern to note about ! I cannot find any questions on MSE about trackers and other stuff
Just reinstalled brave browser
And even just using it for this 5 minutes (only ask ubuntu) it is showing 40 trackers
Should I post a new question on MSE
I am not so familiar with that
I am somewhat familiar with AUM

@BeastOfCaerbannog reopened as it was closed for the wrong reason - but I don't think that question has anything to do with Ubuntu at all
@Algnis yeah
@Algnis I don't think you'll get any answer there - it's not something the community will have any information about

I don't know why I am not getting any inbox messages (only "1" icon is not coming if I open inbox the message is there)
Anyways
@Natty tp
@Zanna Really I am kinda afraid that people will downvote it

Q: BUG : Unanswered questions?

AlgnisHello Today I was browsing through all the questions.... I was seening and almost all the questions were answered. So I selected the "unanswered category" of questions. By default it is selcted to sort by votes (at least in my case). It is ok there I don't see any answered questions and it is wor...

What you have to say about this ?

12:37 PM
@Algnis well, we can try to help you make it good
@Algnis it's working for me... maybe a mobile version bug

@Zanna I included the gif

@Algnis I am not able to understand the gif
but anyway I am not seeing the behaviour that you described on my laptop

12:58 PM
In mobile version ?

1:36 PM

@Zanna I agree that it's not Ubuntu-specific, but it's a generic question and could be useful as a target for similar duplicate questions. I don't think it's bad to have it open, but I also don't think it's bad if it gets closed as not about Ubuntu, since I can't think of an answer that could add anything more to karel's answer. Even so, karel's answer could then be converted to a CW, and further info could be added there.
In any case, the usefulness of it, IMO, is to be used as a dupe target and if closed, closed for the right reason.

Is this no-repro?
@Natty tp

@BeastOfCaerbannog I mean, questions don't have to be Ubuntu specific, but I don't think that question is any more about Ubuntu than, say "what's the difference between a grapefruit and a mango?"

Well, the analogy is not exactly the same, as graphics cards are related to computing, whereas fruits are not, but I see your point. If you think that it should be closed, I won't oppose anything to that, as long as it gets closed for the right reason, which "Needs more focus" obviously isn't after the edits.

1:49 PM
maybe I'm losing my marbles
@BeastOfCaerbannog hmm, looks like since OP corrected the question, they've done a good job of explaining their confusion in the answer... idk if further editing could improve either the question or the answer, but it does seem like other people might benefit from the post

@Zanna Why do you say that? (nice expression, I didn't know that!)
@Zanna OK. Thanks for this. I was unsure about that.

oh hahaha... I mean the question about graphics cards just seems wildly off topic here and I don't understand why it wasn't closed as such
@BeastOfCaerbannog :)

@Zanna I agree with you on that! But I think it can be a useful Q&A in cases like this.
If it gets closed it can still be used as a dupe target, right?

@BeastOfCaerbannog yes, it can, and it can't be deleted
so that seems like it would be okay.

Then great! :)

1:56 PM
:)

Do you think that it can be made more Ubuntu-specific?
For example by adding something like "... and how do I know that my card is working?"

not without making it really ask something else
@BeastOfCaerbannog yeah, maybe

If you think that this is a bad suggestion, go ahead and close it! I have no problem with that!
If not, maybe @karel has something to add on this, since their answer is there.

I'm concerned that we won't be able to make the question on topic without making it a lot less clear. But my imagination is limited. If you want to try extending it to make it about Ubuntu then, totally go for it. If it doesn't work out we can just close it instead

OK. I'll look at it later. Should I send a draft here if I come up with something?

2:09 PM
if you want to sure, but if it seems good to you then feel free to apply it

@Zanna it went into the LQP queue. Please review it if it's not much trouble.

"you are not able to review this item"
the LQP queue is so touchy
an upvote invalidated the review

Hahaha!

the question is a bit confusing, but I don't see any other way they'd get those errors. Those are the architecture typo errors

Does what you say in your edit work? Was a non-existing architecture installed?

6:19 PM
that's what I mean - it must be that they added the non-existent architecture because how else would they get that error for every repository
e or a

I understand that. But can it actually be installed since it doesn't exist?

who knows
blame the romans
@BeastOfCaerbannog oh, yeah!

So I can install an arbitrary string as an architecture?
That's kinda stupid. I would expect that it would be at least checked against a list of known architecture names.

zanna@peach:~$ sudo dpkg --add-architecture gothic
pkg-config-dpkghook: warning: Architecture gothic not defined in architecture tables, ignored
zanna@peach:~$ dpkg --print-foreign-architectures
gothic
zanna@peach:~$ sudo apt update

Get:3 archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal-updates InRelease [114 kB]

Hahaha! Nice!
So it's actually checked against this list but adds it nevertheless!

😂
So it's a nice answer after your edit. Upvoted!

haha thanks! :D

Hmm... I failed this audit. The answer in it was supposedly a dupe of this answer, which I agree with. But it wasn't fair. The audit didn't show that there were 3 other answers...
