This question has 2 OT votes because the OP mentioned that they used Linux Mint. However, the question itself is not distro-dependent, so not off-topic. Thus I edited it to remove the reference to LM. I'm leaving this comment here just as a reminder to VTR if it gets closed.

what?!
ARGH

Hahahaha

nooooooooo this is not the way
:(

I have also left a comment and actually the second vote was cast after my comment
@Zanna I hope you are not referring to what I did
:/

yes I am!
I strongly oppose such edits

12:20 PM
Oh! Really?
Why?
It clearly doesn't have anything to do with a specific distro

I guess this is an extreme case
but I very strongly oppose it because the precedent of such edits is bad
people think they know what is and is not distro-independent
many people say things like "well it's based on Ubuntu, so it'll surely be the same"
but many things are distro-dependent
it shouldn't be on us to know whether it is or isn't

Yeah, I agree. I usually VTC such posts. In this particular case however, the OP asks a question about modifying one of two text editors. There is nothing that makes it different if it was on Ubuntu or Arch or another distro.

@DavidFoerster I have no problem with the change to the close reason, but I don't follow your argument at all. Our actual policies, summarized in the help and established by community consensus on meta, say what to do with questions that are not about Ubuntu because a different distro, and not Ubuntu, is being used.

@Zanna But it is to a certain point. That's how we decide to VTC sometimes.

not when it comes to other distros
@BeastOfCaerbannog well I don't mind this one sneaking under the radar I guess but I would rather neither of the comments were there in that case :/
anyway other people think differently
but every time something like this happens my heart rate goes through the roof

12:28 PM
Hmmm. OK. It's my bad then. I'll remove my comment, roll back my edit and VTC.

if the question has been answered then I don't mind leaving it. Otherwise, why not just migrate to U&L?

I genuinely thought that it was the right thing to do.

it might be the right thing to do
terdon would surely agree with you 110%

Now I'm confused. I just removed my comment. Should I perhaps ask a meta question about this?

O.O
hahaha
sorry
we had this whole thing back in February 2019
at that time I was having some problems unrelated to the site
but when the debate came up I felt compelled to participate
I think the off-site trauma has sort of got attached to this on-site issue for me

12:35 PM
Hahahaahahahaaha!!!

It is a bit funny (sorry) and explains the overreaction that I saw from you for the first time!

anyway you can always ask on meta, that might even end up helping me get over it XD
@BeastOfCaerbannog hahaha yes :D
sorry

However I'm sorry for this. I by any means did not want to make anything worse (on-site) and also trigger your trauma.

I realise that :) :) it's not your fault at all!

12:40 PM
@Zanna Yeah, I don't think I will read it right now. It's almost a book.

@BeastOfCaerbannog If we agree that this post can stay, I'd suggest we get rid of the previous comment as well. However, I can give you the text of your comment if you want to put it back. Alternatively, I can migrate the post
(I can't undelete the comment)
@BeastOfCaerbannog I certainly don't want to read any of it ever again 😂🤣

I think that migrating would be the best option, so we can keep the policy and not confuse other users.
Should I edit it beforehand to add the OP's distro?
Also, do you want me to flag it for migration or there is no need to?

I've done it - it's just an option in the close vote menu - you know where you can vote to migrate to meta? There's an extra option to type in the name of any site there
I edited it after migrating it (I have got just enough rep on U&L)

OH, cool! Thank you and, again, sorry for this!

not at all <3
thanks for being so kind

12:49 PM
:)
Now I have a question. The OP does not appear to have a U&L account. Will they be notified if they get an answer?

@BeastOfCaerbannog they have to create an account for that, but they do get a notification that the question has been migrated, so hopefully they will find the question and click the button to join the community

Ok, good to know that.

@Natty This must be changed to a comment I guess..

@RandomPerson I think it's OK as an answer too (I have edited it).

1:03 PM
@BeastOfCaerbannog ok..

@Natty ne

I've flagged many posts as needs details or clarity and most of the flags are still pending.
The oldest flag pending is from 5 May..
Is it because of less number of users participating in review queue?

1:19 PM
@RandomPerson I think yes. I currently see that there are 350 questions in the Close votes queue. Also many of my close votes have expired. I think the pandemic has influenced Ask Ubuntu too and not as many people as before (myself included) review stuff. This room is not as active as it used to be too.

hmm..

1:36 PM
@Zanna I have flagged some comments. Please check them.

What kind of question is this: askubuntu.com/q/1335013/1103140 ?

@RandomPerson It looks unclear to me.

@RandomPerson done, thanks!
