[ SmokeDetector | MS ] Blacklisted user (71): Is it possible to run the IIS web server on Linux? by Ricky Sousa on askubuntu.com

the question looks like another duplicate of the one we found yesterday, but OP found another answer
I kind of think the other answer writer should vote to close instead of posting the same answer to questions about this issue again and again, and haranguing the OP to the effect that their answer can't possibly be correct because their problem is the same as in those other questions

5:31 AM
I wonder if a merge should happen

6:16 AM
@Zanna I agree.
@Zanna Merge what?

@BeastOfCaerbannog merge this question into the main one, so that OP's interesting answer gets moved there
but, maybe that answer wouldn't work for others

7:11 AM
@Zanna I think that merging isn't a bad idea.

I like the idea

Should the user that posted the other answer also be reminded about avoiding to post the same answer in multiple questions?

it seems that discussion already happened many times in the past
do we need a tag ?
the usage guidance says
> When something flickers it flashes repeatedly. Flickering in the Ask Ubuntu forums is generally referring to screen issues, or to describe an LED, such as,"The hard disk access light flickered."
I see no purpose for this tag
even its usage guidance refers to multiple meanings

@Zanna Yeah, I know. :/

7:26 AM
(which are all acceptable!)
@BeastOfCaerbannog if I merge, I'll delete one of the answers and leave a comment on it

@Zanna I think we do. Screen flickering is a pretty common problem. Perhaps we should rename it to screen-flicker and write a better guidance.
@Zanna So that's 2 in 1!

@BeastOfCaerbannog ok, let's post on meta about it?

would you like to post? I can also do it if you prefer

Oh, OK. I didn't offer myself to do it because it's you who found it. I'll post it in a bit. Should I also point to your opinion here? "I see no purpose for this tag"

7:39 AM
nah I already changed my mind to agree with you. It's like
but I really don't mind posting about it

Hahaha!

just trying to decide whether to merge

I can do (or you) a tag wiki edit and remove the LED flickering, which seems irrelevant to me.

@BeastOfCaerbannog yeah I think that should be removed, but I think we should first post on meta, to propose renaming it to get rid of the ambiguity
how do I end up with 6 tabs of the same post :/

7:47 AM
@Zanna OK, so who does it? Me or you?

the real question is, what pun can we use for the title?
I'm not thinking of anything
if only Eliah Kagan were here
or muru
or jokerdino

Pun like what?

sorry I'm just being a jerk... meta posts about tags often have puns
but it's not an absolute requirement :)

Hahahahaha

Autoflagging disabled until restart

7:56 AM
back in a bit... feel free to, like, write that meta post

OK
I'll try to think of a pun in the meantime
@Zanna How about "Should this tag be removed in a [flickering] of light?"
[flicker] *

8:38 AM
:)
we are going to propose renaming, right?
so maybe should this tag be transformed in a [flicker] of light ? (or 'changed'?)

8:59 AM
@Zanna OK, cool!

:)

9:15 AM
@Zanna Done.

@Natty tp
@Natty fp

@BeastOfCaerbannog haha I really like the title, nicely done!
thanks so much for posting that

@Zanna Hahaha! Thanks for letting me post it!

:)

hahaha I was waiting for muru to appear and suggest getting rid of the tag entirely
I should have made a bet XD

Hahaha

@Zanna When did this tag-pun tradition became a thing? Most of the tag questions I find don't have puns.

hmm I'm not sure - I thought it was a longstanding network-wide tradition!

OK. I like it!

me too :D

Q: PC started having screen glitches after update

dspacejsI'm not sure what's caused it. I haven't changed any system settings. The only thing I've done that may have broken something is updating my software. It was far worse before, I'm not sure how to describe exactly, but my entire screen's UI was glitching out. So I rebooted and that stopped, but no...

@Zanna OP closed it themselves

5:13 PM
could this question be another case of the same?

8:09 PM
@Zanna Great!

@Zanna Given the timeframe that these issues happen, I think it is. I voted to close it against the same target as the previous questions. Let's see what the OP thinks. If it is indeed a duplicate of this, the other target should be deleted, as it would be irrelevant.
